Default Vellum and attaching to cards

Is there any other way to attach vellum to a card other than brads and rivots? If you use just the tape it seems to show through. Ideas??

You can run it throw your Xyron, I haven't tried that yet! I haven't had any problems with the Vellum Tape showing through (yet, knocking on wood)!

This was in another thread about attaching vellum:

WAYS TO ATTACH VELLUM:
• Eyelets
• Vellum tape
• Ribbon
• Wrap the edges around to the back side of the card stock and adhere there
• Brads
• Small bits of adhesive layered underneath solid or patterned cardstock, overlaying the vellum
• Corner slot punch
• Spray adhesive by Krylon
• Glue dots
• Xyron
Buttons
3M vellum tape• The tape fits perfectly in TAC™GWP plastic box! It’s well protected and can get banged around with out harm.

I have used the vellum tape. It works some of the time. You need to rub over it with your finger nail or bone folder.

I just read that you can use Crystal Effects to adhere vellum to cardstock. They say to use your fingertip or Q-tip to smooth it out instead of straight from the bottle.
I'm going to try it to see.

Default vellum

You can use the vellum tape to tape your vellum down instead of using eyelets or brads. It is designed not to show under the vellum.

Default attaching vellum

i bought a spray adhesive from Michael's that works wonderful.. sprays like hairspray and dries quick and you cannot see the adhesive through it..

i love it and it is inexpensive.

Here's a dumb question, where can you get the 3M vellum tape? Michael's? Office Max? Order it? Thanks!

That's not a dumb question. I found mine at the local stamping store. If they don't carry it, ask them to order it for you.

Default vellum and attaching to cards

When I don't want to attach vellum with brads or eyelets, I take my 2-way glue pen and run it along the edges of the vellum and then stick it to the card. There is enough glue on the edges to hold it but not enough to show.

Default Vellum and attaching to cards

Xyron works wonders. Ask my mom. I havent seen her since she got her Xyron machine. Every now and again this voice I hear over the phone goes "can you get me another refill or two". Take it from me the daughter that has been replaced by Xyron, it works great on vellum. Just make sure to feed it through carefully as it can crinkle. Hope this helps please let me know if you happen to hear of a Xyron Anonymous group. :P

Xyron is great, but it can't make vellum pockets !!! What is the best adhesive for vellum pockets (like to hold a bookmark to the front of a card)?

Hmmm, how about glue dots? Those hold other things quite well and they are clear.

When I have made vellum pockets in the past I've always sewn them on. Looks a lot better than a line of glue!

I tried both my xyron and vellum tape and both showed through when adhering regular vellum (no design or color to it) to dark brown cardstock. Maybe because the cardstock is too dark? I don't know. I was just dissapointed because I made a special trip to the store to finish my card and the tape didn't work for this project. Oh well, I'm sure I'll just it on other things.

I have seen this done before and it looks great, but I can barely sew a button back on !!! I want to buy that mini sewing machine that they sell at AC Moore / Joanne's / Michaels, but I don't know if it would be worth it or how well it works.

I bought that mini sewing machine--I think it stinks! Wouldn't waste my money on it!

I haven't ever used one of the mini sewing machines, but I've heard they are junk.

The mini sewing machines are nice for the price. Also, it's nice that you only use one spool of thread (no bobbin thread). But......you have to read and carefully follow the directions. This is especially true for those of us who are used to regular sewing machines. You have to be careful not to pull the stitches out, hence the need to read the directions which tell you how to do it.

To make vellum pockets, how about "wrapping" the vellum around a piece of card stock?
