After reading here that Fiskars will replace a crooked cutting cutter, I emailed them. They said they would send a replacement part in 7-10 business days. Well, it has been more that 10 business days, and still no package from them. Anyone who has received a replacement from Fiskars, please tell me how long it took. I'm going to send a follow-up email tonight, but I'm curious if the wait is normal. Thanks.

And I thought *I* was doing something wrong! Didn't realize it was actually the cutter. I would like to get a replacement too. I'm going to check in to this! THANKS!
Hi:
I mailed Fiskar's my entire cutter with a letter stating it didn't cut straight.
It took about 2 weeks (maybe 3) but I recieved a brand-new in the package cutter from them!
My co-workers thougth I was nuts (I mailed it from work) but I got the last laugh when I told them I got a new cutter! HA HA HA to them!!!
Now I am wondering should I send in my hand punch - I used too much force and broke it.
I don't know if they will replace something due to user error... I can always try.
I got a replacement part in about 5 days and when that didn't fix the crookedness (is that a word?), the sent a replacement cutter also in about 5 days.
I emailed about a paper trimmer that didn't allow proper removal of a protective sheet of plastic on the cutting surface. Within two weeks, I had a brand new paper trimmer... Fiskars has a customer for life in me.

Man, I wish I had seen this before I bought a NEW one!! I got the one that can cut 2 sheets of cs w/the silver background. I thought I was nuts. Thanks for the validation!
I emailed Fiskars on Sunday and a replacement was at my door friday when I got home from work. This was only about 2 weeks ago! I was told 5-7 days. The replacement works great!

Well, it didn't come again today so I emailed them again. I hope it arrives soon because the crooked cutting is really annoying! Thanks for all the info everyone!
stampin maniac, go to fiskars.com, choose your country and look for customer service or contact us or something like that and send an email. Good luck.
I emailed Fiskars last night asking them to double check that my replacement part had been sent. I got an answer back first thing this morning that it did ship two weeks ago, so they will order again. They are very fast with communication, I'll give them that. I hope it gets here soon so I can have a straight cut!

I did the same thing and it did take a little while to receive the new ruler. I received it this week. However, the ruler didn't fit my cutter. I e-mailed them back (replied to the one saying that they were sending the part). She replied within 24 hours saying they were going to put a new trimmer in the mail. So, be patient.
When you say your Fiskars 12" paper trimmer cut crooked, do you mean that you wound up with a subtle wowed or curved cut that looks straight until you mat the trimmed paper on a larger sheet?
(I'm just asking because that is what mine does, and I assumed I was doing something wrong to cause that to happen.)
While I'm being all asky here, does anyone else get a very noticeable swoop on the smaller Fiskars trimmer at the beginning of your cuts? Mine just started to do this recently, and it's pretty annoying to trim this swervy cut off the corner of a cropped item with scissors. I usually have to make a few more cuts to correct my original "correction".
Thank you for letting us know about Fiskars' policy and committment to customer service!

I had the "smaller" 12-inch cutter that gave me swoop cuts - and they replaced it for me.... Unfortunately, the replacement also "swoops", so now I have 2...
I also emailed Fiskars about my 12" cutter. I mentioned I had a 9" trimmer as well. Without asking me to return what I had, they mailed 2 new trimmers. It took about 2 weeks to get them. :? Where this problem seems to be a design flaw, I'm left with the same problem I had. I love the way Fiskar's caters to their customers, but I told them that I now have 4 trimmers that have the same issue, and didn't hear from them again. :?
I emailed them about my 12" trimmer and they suggested a ruler replacement. I rec'd the ruler in about three days. Well, the trimmer was doing the same thing ... so I emailed them again on Monday of last week and rec'd my whole new trimmer on Friday (I have the gray/orange one and they replaced it with the purple/silver one!!)
Hmph - I think I've been downgraded. I had a black & silver trimmer, similar in shape to the new one that SU! carries. I just got my replacement (via UPS) and it seems as though I've ended up with one of the old grey and orange ones. This stinks. Should I be happy I have a new one? :?
Speaking of Fiskars, I just bought their new $24.95 papercutter at our local exchange for only $14.40 total, instead of the background color being the gray color, it was purple, I was thrilled with this great bargain! I couldn't believe it was the same one either, what an awesome day that was!
Update: My replacement ruler finally arrived today, and it doesn't fit! Whaaaa!!! I'm really frustrated with this whole thing, and I hope they just replace the whole stupid thing!

Be careful what you wish for. They sent me a much cheaper trimmer than I originally had. :(
I think that depends on if it cuts straight! Did you complain that they downgraded your trimmer?
I haven't opened it yet, as I noticed that the rulers aren't as precise. I know it sounds rather particular, but me being then engineer that I am acutally uses the 1/16" markings. I've e-mailed the woman that I have been in contact with to tell her that I don't think the replacement is acceptable. I'm seeing if she'll swap it for me.
Ok, I didn't do the quote thing right. How do you get it to say who you are quoting?
Simply make sure the [ quote ] and [ /quote ] are around the text of the other person's comments. Leave out the extra spaces I added to make it actually show up instead of quoting.
I too emailed them and in a matter of days the ruler showed up. However it did not fit so emailed her again and said I'd be getting a whole new trimmer soon. I don't care what it looks like as long as I can get straight cuts. I can understand how frustrating it would be to be downgraded sorry.
I can say that I appreciate Fiskar's customer service.
I noticed something with the trimmer. If I cut pulling the blade toward me, the cut is always perfectly straight. If I push the blade away from me, it gets uneven toward the end because the paper slips a little. I noticed the uneven cuts after reading the posts here and was about to contact Fiskars. When pushing the blade away from me, if I just keep a light touch on the paper so it stays flush with the side, it comes out perfect every time. Granted, you probably shouldn't have to do that but I don't cut that many sheets at a time so it's not a problem for me.
I had the same thing happen. Except mine was my fault. I gave them the wrong style number, therefore prompting the wrong replacement to arrive. I called back and apologized and offered to send it back. They said not to worry and sent a new one ASAP. They also sent an extra small trimmer for "my trouble," which I caused They are very nice. Their cutters need some improvement, but they are a very customer oriented company. That in itself is a novelty these days! Oh, when I offered to send the wrong one back, the customer service lady said not to, and to donate it to my favorite charity!
After reading this post, and having lived with a wavy trimmer for ever, I emailed them, and they are sending me out a new ruler. So, we'll see how that all turns out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed

I bought my trimmer from Ms about 6 months ago. It is not from SU. I don't know if anyone has had any trouble with the Fiskars through SU, but it seems there have been lots of troubles with crooked cuts.
My replacement trimmer finally arrived! It is a lot different than my original one; it doesn't have the grid lines on it. I was disappointed until I realized that the ruler are is the same as my old one. So, I just put the new ruler on the old trimmer, and I'm set to go! So far it is working just fine! I noticed that the new ruler is a lot stiffer than the old one, so I wonder if they stretch out as you put the blades in and out....maybe that is the defect? I am a happy camper now, and Fiskars really did go out of thier way to make me a hoppy customer.
I read this thread and was having the same problem. This is the e-mail I got back from Fiskars:

Hello Katie,
Thank you for using Fiskars products. We are sending you a replacement clear ruler for your trimmer at no charge to you. When you make your cuts, try having the trimmer horizontal with the blade closest to your torso. Make sure the blade is always being pushed away from you and the paper is being held tight on the base ridge. Also, we find the best cuts when standing. I hope this is helpful to you. If you continue to have problems with your trimmer, please let me know.
Best Regards,

Not only did they send me a replacement ruler, but they sent me a new trimmer! This is the one they sent me:
I had the old Fiskars with the blue plastic and noticed that the ruler was off. No matter what I cut, I was off, and especially when I used the scoring blade. I called Fiskars, told them the ruler was off, and had a replacement within a week. My sister and niece also had the same problem, so also got replacement trimmers. If your trimmer was blue, the ruler was off, call and get the new purple one.
Yes - I finally got a new trimmer as well. Mine is just like the one photographed above, but black! I have yet to try it, but the ruler seems sturdier.
Well dang! That is not the replacement one they sent me. But, I'm ok because the new ruler piece fits my old blue one.
When you say the ruler is off, do you mean the track or the ruler arm that pulls out? The problem I reported to Fiskars was about the track that the blade slides in, but I also have a problem with my 5.5" cuts being every so slightly off measurement. When I cut several at one time and then stack them together, every other one is just a smidge wider than the others.
