Before I went to my first event where we swapped, I was afraid my cards wouldn't be as good as anyone else's. But I found out the other demos liked my cards! And now, just today, I uploaded three cards and you like them! So I just want to say thanks, and I don't feel insecure anymore. I'll still probably CASE more than I come up with anything original, but at least now I know I can do it.
I sure do love looking at everyone's cards and I'm so inspired!
Thanks!
I can totally relate! I was so afraid to enter swaps when I first began doing them. I was afraid that my work wasn't good enough. Remember one thing - WE ARE OUR OWN WORST CRITICS!!! Once I began swapping, I have from time to time received things back where I would think "what were they thinking?" or "wow, mine's not so bad after all!" I don't mean that to be mean, and I would never say it to anyone, it's something you keep to yourself. When looking through my swaps, each person in my family has favorites - sometimes one of my kids or husband will pick the one that is my least favorite. We all have our own ideas and preferences - colors, styles, embellishments, etc. If you're not confident - what better way to learn to be better, than by swapping with other very talented stampers and receiving ideas!!! Also, the positive feedback that you do get from others really boosts your confidence level!
Thanks Karen, you're right, it's all about confidence. And that just comes with time and in the doing. It's funny, my husband often says he likes the one I thought wasn't so great. Taste is so subjective. I guess that's why there are stamp sets like Jest Between Friends, Charming Children and It's a Party. Ooh, that monkey makes me cringe. But to each his own.
Your cards are beautiful...thanks for sharing. I see you are from So. Cal. I hope you will be coming to the Stamp 'till you drop event in September being organized by Joleen and Joy. Would love to meet you...and maybe swap???
Thanks for the encouragement Jami. I thought about going to the event here but I'm not a night person and can't think straight after 10 pm. That's why I'm on SCS and not stamping. Is it still an all-nighter?
The event in Ontario is Friday night/ Saturday. Option to go for both with a hotel room or just go for the day on Saturday. I'm just going for the day Saturday. Check out the info in the announcements forum. Really sounds like fun!
BTW - I thought I was the only one who didn't like the monkey :?
I can definately relate to you. I just uploaded my 1st card last night. I was soo nervous to get on this morning and see if it had any comments. And was so excited to see that there were 5 of them!! It was a very simple card and definately nothing fancy but I had just finished it and thought I would run and do the upload before I lost my nerve.
So, there are others who feel the same as you and I agree that it just takes confidence building. The creativity of some is inspiring to me but in the same token very intimidating (sp?). I'm not a very creative person either but I can CASE a card and tweak it a little. I'm sure others would agree with this as well.
I just joined my 1st swap so I'm jumping in with both feet I guess!!!
I feel the exact same way! There is such awesome talent on this board that I feel that anything I can come up with cannot compare! I have only posted 3, myself! It was terrifying!
 Sherry
I can so relate!! I just joined my first swap this morning and now I'm freaking out! All your words are giving me courage. Who knows, maybe I'll post a card on SCS someday. I'm taking baby steps!

I assume that you joined the same swap that I did. LOL It is also my 1st time participating in a swap so we're in the same boat.
Maybe someone should do a swap for those of us that are nervous to post our cards in the gallery. Obviously I've never hosted a swap before but I would be willing to give it a try if you guys are game. Let me know ~ if there is an interest maybe we could make a go of it. I'm thinking a deadline of later in August though ~ because I'm swamped right now.
Tammy - I was afraid to join a swap because I like my cards and my family does but they will not tell me the truth. I finally did join my first swap and I am waiting on a question that I had so I can get started. Maybe ya'll can help. What is a cardfront b/c I am thinking it is something that needs to be ready to go on a card. :?
Location: My very hot stamp room, in Phoenix! It's a dry heat.

I am so happy to hear others think the monkey is a little freaky! I call that stamp set - are you ready for this? - Ugly cow, ugly pig, ugly monkey. I don't think I would want that stamp set if it was FREE and I love free stuff. Oh well, to each his own. I know some people love that stamp set. I don't understand that, but that's okay. I am glad I got some swaps using it at convention though, so I can show it without having to invest in it. Ugggglllllllllllyyyyyy. No offense intended to those that like that set.
A card front is !/4 sheet decorated as you would the front of a card. Saves paper. 5-1/2" X 4-1/4".
BTW StampinUpaStorm, your cards are lovely! Great job!
Geez Princess Mi you look so much like Princess Di. I love Princess Di and think she had a tremendous heart. Hello what was she thinking when she married Prince Charles? Well Prince William is gorgeous!! Ok I am interested in your swap just let me know when so I can check my schedule. August is always a busy month for me.
Thanks everyone for your positive comments. I really wasn't fishing for compliments It is so imtimidating to look at everyone's great cards and then look at your own and wonder if you should post them.
Princess Mi, I can't believe you hadn't posted before! I"ll have to go look at your card. I wonder how many haven't posted? I just decided to do it yesterday and now the next ones will be easy. It's just getting over the fear of doing it for the first time I guess. So if anyone else is afraid - don't be! Just do it!

Everyone says that!! Somedays definately more than others (esp when I'm all "fixed" up). LOL
As far as not posting my cards ~ I just never felt that they were "good" enough. I have stacks of cards that I have made (I usually like to make 2 of each - 1 for me and 1 to give). Since I have the 1st one under my belt I'll definately start uploading more.
StampinUpaStorm ~ I'm so glad you started this thread and that there are others like me.
