Default Want to buy

Want to buy a background stamp, which one do ya'll think I will get the most use out of? The kiss technique pushed me over the edge. Got to have one now for sure.

I really like the canvas stamp! It was my first background stamp I've purchased and I think I have used this stamp on 3/4 of the cards that I have made.

Hope this helps!

I think the first background stamp set I purchased was French Script -- but that was 5 or so years ago. I still love it but don't use it as much.

Today if I was purchasing just one, I too would vote for the Canvas set! Very, very versitile.

I have several of them but use only a few. Really love the Canvas one the best. Others I use regularly are French Script and Soft Swirls.

By Definition is probably my favorite BG stamp. The one I use the most.

ooo...I need to try the kissing technique with that one.

Don't overlook the possibilities of using the little filler stamps (such as Fresh Fillers) for kissing. They are less expensive and you get 4 in each set to boot.

Happy stamping!

Probably a dumb question, but what is the kiss technique? I'm not familiar with this one.

If I'm not mistaken, you take a stamp and ink it; get another stamp and press it on the inked stamp, then stamp the page.

EX: Ink the canvas background stamp; take a letter stamp and press it on the canvas stamp; then stamp the page. Voila! you get a gingham letter! Is that cool or what?!?

Of course, someone correct me if I'm inaccurate...

I absolutely love my canvas stamp (how cool is it to turn white CS into any color I need?!?) but I tried the kissing technique with it last night and it muted the colors too much...maybe I did it wrong? I used brilliant blue on the canvas stamp and green galore on a fish. It was OK, but not like the other cards I'm seeing using this technique. I'm going to try some of my smaller background stamps tonight!

The Canvas stamp was in the last SU winter mini catalog. It is still available. The # for it is: 104421 price:$16.95. It is an awesome background stamp!

the canvas stamp was in the winter mini, but you will be able to find tons of samples made with it on this site.

I recommend the Canvas. I also tried the fresh fillers with the kissing technique and they also work great. The canvas works for that technique, but if you are looking for a background stamp for kissing purposes only I would recommend something that is not so dense. Soft swirls works well, or hearts and swirls, hot to dot, there are a lot that would work well for this technique.

I have the French Script and have wanted the Canvas. There is a new card in the gallery today that has confirmed my decision. I don't know how to attach a link so do a search for "In Full Bloom Thanks " by AndyJoe it is beautiful and really shows the canvas BG. The stamp was in the winter mini but is still being offered. Contact your demo they'll be able to get you the order number. Gail

I love the background stamps! My faves are Canvas, French Script, and Love Swirls. So many different uses! Now that I've learned the "kissing" technique, can't wait to try it with those!

French Script and By Definition won't work well with the kissing technique because the words will be *backwards* in the final stamping.

I have Soft Swirls, Filigree, Just Jeans and Canvas. I love them all, but if I was going to order just one, I would have to go with Canvas. It gives a look that is very trendy right now.

There are two cards out there with Kissing and Canvas...one by BarbaraD and one by Cambria. They both inked up canvas with one color and pressed an UNinked shape stamp onto the inked canvas stamp....this is another version of "kissing".

Just my thoughts....

I LOVE all the BG stamps...I can't believe that some of you only have one or two

I use them all...all the time...every card...currently my favorite is Geometric probably because of my thing with patterned paper in that funky retro style lately.

Oh, you're just like my 5 yr old, LOL! She just can't understand the concept of "favorite." Whenever someone asks her her favorite anything, she comes up with a list!

I have the SU canvas stamp and the TAC burlap...I LOVE the burlap!

Since then, I have gotten the TAC gingham, crackle, lace and beauty of a woman (words). I love that they are only $11 for the unmounted and then $6 for the acrylic block which you use for any of them.

Not that SU backgounds are not nice, I just loved the sharpness of the burlap and decided I couldn't beat the price for backgrounds.
