I've made an observation that there are quite a few people named Michele(Michelle) on this site! I've just never been around so many people with the same name as me before!
Kind of cool! And I notice that some of you are spelling your name with one 'L' too! I hardly ever see that!
Anyway...I know this isn't stamping related, but I thought it would be fun to see how many of us are named Michele!
Hi I am a Michele also!!!
I see that you spell your name "correctly" also! JUST TEASING!!!!
(this is a long running joke with a childhood friend since she spells her's with 2 L's)
My name is Michele, also spelled with one "L". I was named after the beatles song and when I asked my mom why she spelled it that way she said she was so tired she forgot the second "L".
I love having it spelled this way. There were 3 Michelle's in my class in elementary school and my last name started with B and the other two last names started with C. We were all in a row and we all knew our order in roll call. Having one "L" made it a little more unique. I hardy see it, so it is surprising to have even three of us here with that spelling and who all love stamping, maybe I am onto something here.....
My mom told me the hospital didn't know how to spell it so this is how I ended up with it spelt!! !!! I do notice that this version does get called "MIchael " alot more though
Hi!
This is unique!
I am a double L girl, myself.
I may be the oldest Michelle here as people were actually afraid to say my name out loud wher I was a little girl. It was wierd!
Even my own family called me Mickey!
The Mouse was big in my day!
Every year on the first day of school, the teacher would call out "Michael" for the roll call. It was so embarassing! The kids in my Catholic school soon knew the drill and looked foreward to it happening.
I NEVER heard my name spoken by another child until I was in 8th grade!
Can you believe it? It was an Earth stopping moment!
Thankfully, the Beatles helped make my name a familiar one!
Then I got teased by everyone singing to me!
Funny memories!
Thanks!
Michelle
Hi I also am a Michele (also spelled correctly ). I haven't been called Michael that often as that is my brother's name. Glad you thought of this! I too had noticed that there were a lot of people named Michel(l)e.
Does anyone else get called 'Chele as a nickname? That's mine.
My parents called my Chelle and they still do. When I was a little kid, I was Shelley (actually I was named after Shelley Fabares... actress on the old Donna Reed Show and in my generation... the TV show "Coach")
Hey Michelle s .... does anyone want to do a "Michelle Swap"? I can host! You can only join the swap if your name is Michelle/Michele!!!!
A Michele Swap!!!! Sounds like an Awesome idea!!!! As for nicknames my dad always called me "Mitch" and in HS I was called "Mish" and "Shell" later in life when I was married and started babysitting and the little ones couldn't say Michele....
Thats pretty funny!! There definately are quite a few of us here on SCS. However, I have no other "friends" with this name.
My 1st name is Rita and my middle is Michelle (I have always gone by Michelle though - my parents never called me Rita). Talk about Beatles songs!! I've got 2 of them covered. LOL (Lovely Rita and My Michelle)
I am also a Michelle, but with 2 "L"s! I didn't really notice until you mentioned it that there are alot of Michelle's on this site! Spelled with one or two "L"s. I have been called Missy all my life from my family, but my friends have called me Shell, Shelly or Mel! It is nice to see so many who share my Name!! We should start a Michelle SCS club!!
Oh, and I was also called Michael throughout school by accident! And then my Mom named my brother Michael! Talk about confusing!!

Funny - I was a Mitch to only one person, a friend of my father's. I have been Shell most of my life to family and close friends. We have 3 Michelle's in my homeschool group - and all of us are leaders of one kind or another. So, one gets to go by Michelle, one by Shelly, and I'm Shell. Works pretty well. Oh - the one going by Michelle is my best friend. LOL! Yeah, that's pretty weird sometimes! LOL!
My senior year of high school - we had 3 of us in my english class... and the weirder thing... 2 of us had "Lee" as a middle name and the last one didn't have a middle name and her last name was "Lee." I think we spent ten minutes of that first day of class deciding who was gonna be Michelle, Lee or Shel... too funny... I'll never forget that.
Speaking of nicknames, my brother reminded me that he use to call me Shelley and it would make me mad. I also was called mich and michelin. My sister in law (husbands sister) married a Michael and my husbands best friend also married a Michelle. How cool is that! My sister in law started calling me mimi (way before the Drew Carey show, so don't get any wrong impressions about my makeup), in fact her husband thought that was my actual name for 2 years! My husband and sister and brother in-law all call me meem now. Short for mimi. I don't think it can be shortened anymore than that.
I'm a one "L" Michele. My Mom just wanted the spelling to be different, my Dad says he wanted two L's but he figured my Mom could have it her way. I like one "L". I'm Catholic and went to a Catholic school, so on All Saints Day my crown always had St. Michael, since that was the Saint name I was Baptized under. As a kid I did not like having a boys name on my crown. Until high school I had never even met another Michele. I have a good friend from High school named Michelle, we were in the same circle of friends but it was never a problem because we called her Doby. Her last name was Dobra. They called me Cook, my last name.
My parents are COMPLETELY against nicknames. Mom says if she wanted me to be called Shelly she would have named me Shelly. I have a sister Suzanne and no one calls her anything but Suzanne!
All of my friends little kids call me, Chele. It seems little ones have a problem getting the whole thing out. My sister is pregnant with her first so I'm thinking I will be Auntie Chele......unless my Mom is relentless telling the poor child you must say her whole name! Ha!
I was born in August of 1966, my parents were big Beatles fans, but they say the song had nothing to do with it. As a matter of a fact I don't even think it was released as a single until sometime after I was born.
It must have been the '60s that did it ... I was born in October of 1966.
I teach Sunday school to 2 and 3 year olds ... Shell is a whole lot easier for them to say than Ms. Michelle!! LOL! I'm really ok with Shell now. I use it much more than I used to, for sure.
Hi there! I am Michelle with 2 "l"s! I too have been called Chelle by the little kids! 1968 here! It must have been the decade!! I have never really gone by any nicknames, but I answer to just about anything!!
This is so cool! My middle name is Lee also...I was named after the actress Michele Lee!
Every year the first day of school roll call I got called Michael too! That's kind of strange as I have a cousin named Michael with the same last name as me!
My parents didn't want nicknames for us kids either....always called by Michele. Although my one grandpa always called me Shell! I will not even answer if someone calls me Shelly...My name is Michele! Someone at work calls me Mitchell and people think it's funny and unique to sing Michele by the Beatles to me. Yeah...I've never heard that one before!

I'm not a Michelle/Michele/Michael but I just wanted to add that I went to grammar school in the 70/80's & I remember a lot of Michelle's (w/2 LL's) & Jennifer's so I'm thinking Michelle was a popular 70's name for girls?? Just like Madison & Emily are the top names today.
OMG I can't believe we're having an ALL MICHELLE swap!! Too Funny. But count me in. I have never participated in a swap though. I'm really nervous. Aghhh. I just did my 1st upload last night but it wasn't that hard so I'm going to upload some more later today. Anyway, I'm sending a PM to Michelle (lol) for the swap.
Does it count that my middle name is Michelle. Its funny because my best friends middle name is also Michelle. As far as nicknames, my dad was king of nick names, and for Michelle he called me "marshmellow"
Another Michelle checking in this morning!! I am really surprised how many of us there are!! I would love to participate in the swap, so please include me.
As for nicknames, my brother called me Shelly Bean as a kid. Still does occasionally. My friends called me Mitch.
Oh, and I was also born in 1974 - so I don't know where my parents picked up the name, either.
I'm a Michelle too. My best friend through school was also Michelle with both of our last names ending in "w". I was called Shell all through school. My husband and family still call me Shell.
