Default Non-Holiday sets for Holiday Cards

I want to use some non-Holiday sets for Holiday (Christmas/Winter) cards so I don't have to order anymore!

I'm looking for examples of sets that will work this way. Here's an example:

Rachelhope13 used Mixed Bouquet to make this Christmas Card (which is to die for!)
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Does anyone know of another set that you can do non-traditional holiday cards with?

I wonder if Mixed Bouquet could be used for that Poinsetta. I don't have paint prints, but I'm thinking that one flower in there might work and then the leaf....

I usually don't buy Christmas sets, so I use other sets all the time. Here are a few examples:

I'm not the first person to do this, but here is another wreath with Heartfelt Thanks: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Here's another:

My suggestion would be to look at the Christmas Card Challenge cards... I bet there are a lot of non-traditional cards there.

I have this same dilemma every year for a group of people who are not Christian - I try to find a style that will work for all my friends and family that is not centered around a Christmas theme and won't force me to buy more than one set to accomplish the project. Here is one I used Lovely As A Tree:

They were inspired by these fantastic cards:

Good luck!

I used the wedding bell in simple sketches ( retired set and I sold it sorry ) and colored it real red and did the bow on it in handsome hunter ( the markers )

One year I made a swack of Xmas cards using a medium snowflake punch and a roll of pine green vinyl wallpaper I picked up from the Sally Ann. I made wreaths, borders, and anything else I could think of.

Wow, I'll be following this thread because I'm always looking for new ways to use current or old sets for Christmas cards - I get so bored making only one or two designs.

Here's a bunch from my gallery that might help you out.
If you have a round punch, you can turn LOTS of different sets into ornaments, like this one:

Mostly Flowers Ornament:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Here's one using The Fine Print (retired, I think) and Mostly Flowers:
May Peace Be Your Gift
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

If you look through the Lovely As A Tree gallery you'll find dozens (if not hundreds) of great examples. Here's a quick and easy one I did:
5 Minute Christmas card
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

And one using torn paper formed into a tree, with the Mini Mates ornament to decorate it:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

I used the window from Window on the World and put a tree outside (LAAT) for this one - another easily adaptable idea:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Using basically a background filler and the All Year Cheer sentiment:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Here's an example of the infamous Paint Prints poinsettia (and you'll find TONS more great samples in the gallery as well), and this one also happened to win first place in the SCS card contest last year:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Anyhow, have fun with it! Just look through your sets, think green & red (not really even necessary these days) and go for it! And be sure to share yours with us as well.

I don't have pictures of these in my gallery, but I have used simply circles done in red and green. Also, I have used cool cat. I stamped the cat and put the santa hat from cold play on her head. Its really cute.

1st one is a Non Christmas color Card:

This one I use Wee Watercolor's stamp set to make a Wreath:

Snowman Christmas Card. I made for my sister last year.
Background tech I use was a Plastic bag dipped in ink.

Well that's all I have for Christmas type cards.

Here's a quick & easy card I did last year: happy ornaments

You may want to consider the set Fun With Shapes. The circles can be used to make ornaments, and the squares can be used to make gift packages. Here's a birthday card I did packages on, but you could easily change the colors and add a "be merry" type sentiment: Bold Brights Birthday

Play around with what you already own, and you might come up with something unexpectedly. I put two of the triangles from Little Shapes together to make a Star of David for this Hanukkah card: Joyful Hanukkah Wishes

I cased one from SCS last Christmas that I loved. I don't have a copy of it, but I will try to explain it!...
Use the solid flower from Love Without End, stamp it in Close to Cocoa then dress it up to look like a gingerbread man. The opening in the center can be sponged or covered with a button. It went over really well in one of my classes.
My apologies to the stamper I cased the idea from, I don't know your name, but your card was sweet.

Smile Tag Punch cards

The two pictures linked below (if I can figure out how to make this work...) were both made with last year's tag punch box. They were both very simple and fun to do!

Default non-holiday for holiday

I use the outline flower from Love Without End as a gingerbread man. I add a button to his center and liquid app. to add lines to his legs and arms!
