Cleaning goo off scissors?

I was cutting EZ Mount last night and of course the goo got all over my Kai scissors. In the past I used nail polish remover to get it off, but last night I ended up using oil from an eyebrow waxing kit to dissolve the goo. Is there a "real" or recommended cleaner to use on the scissors?

I use mini alcohol pads (sold in a box of 50 or so in the medical section of most stores) on my scissors. I also run the blades of my scissors over my Versamark pad before I cut my stamps. This cuts down on the goo that builds up on the scissors.

I like Mr. Clean sponges - wet the sponge rub on the scissors and clean they will be!

Goo-Gone works great. It smells alot like lighter fluid so I may check that out also.

I use lighter fluid. I just put some on a paper towel and rub it along the scissors and it comes right off.

I use Sticky Stuff Remover. It only takes a very little bit on a paper towel. I use it the whole time I'm mounting my stamps and don't usually have to put more on there. It works great!

I use this stuff called Dissolve It. I got it at Walmart. Just squirt a bit on my scissors and wipe with a paper towel. It smells like citrus!

Another thing I use this stuff for is getting grease out of clothes. You know when you're cooking something (like fried eggs) and grease splatters on your shirt. You don't realize it and wash your shirt only to FIND the grease when you're folding the laundry. Well, just give the washed and DRIED grease a squirt of this stuff and wash like usual. It will take the grease right out!!!

I second the Mr Clean Erasers!!! After taking off the writing on my paint chips, I discovered that they really cleaned up my sticky scissors.

I love using UnDO to get the goo off my sissors...doesn't leave any oil or residue. Can find that stuff just about anywhere...craft store...wallymart. It also removes stickers, photos off a page, etc.

I just use baby wipes. Takes a bit of rubbing but I have them handy for cleaning stamps anyway.

Goo gone works great! I didn't have it handy one time and I just sprayed Stampin Mist on my scissors and wiped them clean too. See what works best for you.

Me? I use something that I have around the house anyway...good ole Simple Green. Keep it in a small container right on my stamp desk!! Works great and it's CHEAP!!!

I use the adhesive remover from SU! No stinky chemicals and cleans it off perfect! Great for the fact that I have little ones around all the time and I don't have to worry about spillage or them breathing in the fumes!

Here is a great tip I got from my upline. Run the blades of your scissors over a versamark pad. Making sure that both sides of the blades are covered. This works GREAT for keeping the goop from sticking to your scissors.

I spent the last weekend remounting my stamps with EZMount. I used the Un-do on my scissors and it works great. Use a cotton ball instead of the un-do applicator - it works a lot better that way.

I've been using Avon's Skin-So-Soft with a cotton ball.

Lot's of great ideas! I use the jar type nail polish remover, with the sponge in it. Just snip-snip through the sponge and they are cleaned!!

I use UNDO - I just keep a bottle of it on my scrapping/stamping table. I love how it works with removing things you've already glued on your page! I always think of a better layout after half the stuff is glued down! And it's safe to use on your photos!!!

Good ol' Acetone (fingernail polish remover) works great! My DH had some around the house - he is worse than I am with collecting stuff - only with tools. Every once in a while it comes in handy!

I spray a little WD-40 on a paper towel then wipes the scissors. Iit takes the goo right off.

I just unmounted a bunch of stamps last week and remounted with EZmount, then used GooGone. Smells awful but cleaned them up nicely. THink I may try some of these other ideas as well! MaryJo

Removes grease, oil, dirt.
Noncorrosive
contains no ozone-depleting chemicals
I have used on laundry also
AND it took out gum that was in the dryer and went ond stuck itself on my daughters christmas outfit.

I was just cleaning my scissors last night after mounting 12 new sets (I had a great SU! party) - I used GooGone!

PS - I used Fiskars microtip scissors... does everyone else use Kai?

And yet another goo gone user. I've read on a thread before that versamark keeps your scissors from getting yucky when you cut your rubber stamps apart. Keep forgetting to try it though ! :oops:

I use plain ol' rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball... I've done it for years and it has always cut the goo!
