I'm kinda stuck with this one. It has been sitting on my table for two or three weeks now and I can't decide if it is done. It doesn't seem done, but I can't think of anything I want to add to it.... Opions please?
Oops. It was late last night when I put this up and then my husband wanted the computer. I don't like sharing, but this is what it must be for a while longer. Here is the link I think it should work:
It's very nice - I love the papers, but I think you are right - it does need alittle something - and this is just my opinion but, why don't you run a piece of your fiber from top to bottom along the line of where your sidebar meets the photo and other papers to sorta soften that edge?
I think it's fab just how it is! It looks just like something out of Creating Keepsakes - and I'm always in awe of their samples. I honestly wouldn't add anything to it, but if I had to think of something, how about some of that great SU b/w gingham ribbon going vertically to separate the title from the main page? Maybe tied in a knot somewhere towards to the top?
I thought it was done until I read Melanie's suggestion. I went back to the photo and imagined the fibre and I have to agree-add some hemp and it's perfect!!!!!!!! By the way....wonderful page!
**AWESOME PAGE**!!! Must start off by telling you that!!!!
Now, to answer your question....If it were me, this is what I would do:
Since you have used aged/distressed papers, I would age the tags - they look too new and just jump off the page. I would do a little bit of DTP on them, particularly on the edges, just to "roughen" them up a little bit. No need to crumple, just give them a slightly "yellowed" look. SU's Creamy Caramel (or another similar color) should to the trick. If you don't have that, try for a tea-dyed look with some walnut ink sponged on.
I think that hemp is great, but I would intertwine the hemp with some lengths of other fibers as well. For example, don't be afraid to mix a combination of cocoa colored grosgrain, natural hemp, black/white gingham, and ivory organdy ribbon ("shrunk" with heat gun to give it an aged look) and tie them all into bows and place them randomly on the page.
Otherwise, I think that the page is just *awesome* and that you've done a teriffic job with the photos, papers, and color selection! Way to go!! ~ K

I'd like to thank you all for your awsome and kind comments. The things you all suggested were exactly what was swirling in my mind, but I was too afraid to go forward. I will try to get the changes implemented soon and resubmit the layout with the improvements. Again, thanks. I'm so happy that I can get such great help from you all.
Wonderful page...I like the ribbon idea...but if you wanted something different you could run tacky tape down and use beads, glitter (antique brass...copper)...Mizuhiki Paper Cords...or whatever else you can think of.

Thanks again, all, for your help. Here is the revised version. I think it turned out nice. I put ribbon down the center, but I also added the little plates made out of sculpy, coated in Pearl X, then sanded and topped with black craft ink....
While the "before" page is gone, I do have a more clear memory after seeing the finished page and reading over everyone's comments. Either one would was *PRIMO* but continuing on just took your page *SO* over the top! Gotta say - excellent selection of papers and colors...and when I viewed the finished page, I hadn't realized that those were *handmade* sculpey embellishments...it must have taken you *boo coo* time to do that!! But the finished page speaks for itself - It's **'DA BOMB**!! ~ Kaylyn
