and had to share the news with this great community of stampers. I am on page 59 of the august/sept issue of "Stamper's Sampler." My card is titled "Enliven The Heart". It actually was my least favorite of the cards I submitted. Unfortunately I did not take a picture of any of my submissions (how stupid was that?) and can't scan the page to post here(right Jenn?). Maybe the others will make it into a "Catch Up" issue...one can only hope.
I posted a topic about how many SCS have been published but alas it was just before convention and the new catalogue and we all know that was the all consuming topic for many days (probably still is). So I'll throw it out there again:
I know Julie HRR and LunarLana have been published, so who else has been published? Don't be shy, I want to congratulate you!!!!!
I have been published once, too. It was in the first Take Ten issue. And, like you, it was the least favorite ones of all that I submitted! How weird is that?
I have been published in the Rubber Stamper a few times and the Stampers' Sampler several times. Also in the "Catch Up" issue. It is not near as exciting to me as being published in SU! publications---they give FREE stamps of your choice! I did have a Nature's Sketchbook tag in the last On Stage and chose the Wonderful Wings set as compensation. I was just sad it was the month before the new catalog. Oh well, can't complain when it is FREE can I!
I am so bummed that you have to be a demo to submit work for consideration for publishing. Thanks Laurel for that info!!!! I guess that is a sign that I must be a demo.....Going to an open house tomorrow and am going to take the plunge. Yippee!!!!!!
So you have to be a demo to submit to SU?! Well! Then I guess I made a great choice yesterday!
Question though. Do submissions have to be current catty sets or can you use any SU set (I'm guessing not retired sets, but what about the mini catty sets from the current year? Like Petal Prints?)??
Any advice or info would be appreciated!!

Congrats! It sure is exciting to get published. I was published in the Stampers Sampler Take 10 volume II and didn't find out until I got the magazine in the mail along with the letter. I've submitted to SU, but nothing has come of it. Just recently sent all the cards I did for convention to a magazine........
Christine - I just ran upstairs to get my copy of Stamper's Sampler - you card is beautiful!!!!
Laurel - I purchased your DD Sunflower a couple of years ago for a customer and I still have the card you sent me to say thanks! I love your work!
I have almost two years of Stamper's Sampler and some random editions of other magazines so I'd love to know when others were published so I can check the projects out!
My husband and friends keep telling me that I should send something in but I haven't had the confidence to do that yet. I've decided I'm going to send something in this year to SU! - I figure just putting something in the mail will be challenge enough and in the future I'll aim for publication
Thank-you all for the kind words and the inspiration this community so generously gives. I think this site helped to seal the deal for me to become a demo. I won the grand prize yesterday at my demos open house- shapes and shadows! this is so cool. I had selected that set as part of my starter kit so now I am choosing My favorite teddy Bear instead..I just adore that bear!!!!!
Hmmm I didn't get a letter from Stamper's Sampler.....
Congratulations to all that have been published. I see plenty of cards in Stamper's Sampler and think that is not all that great; that was why I thought I could submit something. Alot of the samples are eclectic and then others are plain (take ten samples in particular)-good ideas for workshops. JUST DO IT!!! Submit those samples; it is such a high, it's hard to describe!!!
On another thread, somebody (can't remember who) said they were not going to buy any more idea books or mags. Not me...I remember when there was fear that the internet would completely degrade book, mags and newspaper sales but there is just something about holding the mag/book/paper in your hands, plus a good book or mag when you are commuting or on an airplane is a must. Plus when I can't sleep, a book is easier to read in bed than dragging in my laptop- too hot on my lap as well!!!!. (LOL) I am a book (non-stamping-more current events and history) and stamping magazine freak as well. I love Barnes & Noble!!!!
Congratulations Christine on your publication and also for deciding to sign up to be the newest member of my downline I am so proud of you and we are going to have so much fun :P
qcbetty- You DO have to be a demo to submit for their publications. In the monthly stampin success magazine that demo's get, they announce contests. Each winner gets free stamps. There are 4 categories a month. You can send samples to them at any time though. They have to be current sets and only SU supplies.
You should DEFINATELY join "the Team!" It is one of the best decisions I have ever made! Such a fabulous company! Good Luck!!!!
Oh my goodness, Pam. I sure didn't remember who bought my DD Sunflower. I had forgotten all about that set! I think I sold it off of Stampin' Discuss but can't even remember that. Of course I have no idea what card I sent to Thank you but am happy I took the time to do that! I am glad you enjoyed it and thank you for your compliment!
Happy Stamping,
At the time I didn't have any SU grapes stamps so I made do with what I had purchased from some local craft stores...I did use SU paper though! Since I'm a now a newbie demo, much of my efforts in the near future will be concentrating on making samplers for workshops and the like. But if I see a contest that appeals to me I will definitely submit again, but this time use SU stamps (I'd love to submit to SU too, but we'lll wait and see...)
