Default Going to a CTMH Party--Help Me Decide

I've been going through the catalog for a good week, and am having a REALLY hard time coming up with stamps I want. All of the stamps I'm drawn to look sooooooo much like SU ones I already have.

One that is catching my eye is the Calendar set. It reminds me of the Making Memories one I have, which I HATE, so thought this might be one set to get. Any one have it, and what do you think?

Anyhoooo, I'll probably end up getting some scrapbook kits. Does anyone have these and what do you think? They look like a nice, quick way to get some pages done, and since I'm 1 1/2 years behind, I need all the help I can get! :?

So, any thoughts on these?

Thanks.

The kits are very nice, I think you will be pleased with them....Since they have gone to acrylix I have not tried them out but was at a party last week and did order the baby feet and hands and the cute zoo animals one. I have heard that they are easy to care for and if they get lenty or stop sticking to just clean w/ alchol, though you should not do this too often. I have not yet received my order so have not tried them out yet, but I am hearing good things, especially the storage side of the acrylix.

I think they have some wonderful stamp designs, but everyone brags about the kits and they are much cheaper then SU kits...though SU is nice too. I think the word sets from CTMH are really nice but I do not have yet.

Tough decisions....GOOD LUCK. :?

LOVE the kits! They are great for quick, simple pages. Also check out the stamp of the month- it's not in the catalog. You can check their website or ask the demo for the expressions (like the SU! mini).

Thanks, I'm set on 3 or 4 of the kits so far. As for using the stamps, I'm not sold on these yet. I bought the intro set they offered when the new Acrylix first came out and they were sticking to the paper, where the paper was actually ripping when I was removing the stamp.

I'm looking forward to going since I can actually see and hear what I need to do to use these. Also, since I'm a SU demo, it's going to be nice to sit on the other side of the table.

I had problems with the stamps ripping the paper too. My demo said to wash them with soap and warm water- didn't really help. She also suggested making sure the house was not too humid. Another person suggested stamping the stamp in versa mark first to season it. None of these things really helped me. It is not all of the stamps- seems like just the larger ones. Let me know if you find out how to make them stop!

Joy: I'll let you know. I, too, was told to wash them with soap and water, didn't work. We'll see what a pro has to say.

For sticking stamps, before you use them, take a white artist eraser and rub across the stamp to season it. And, as with any new stamp, you do need to stamp them off a few times before you do your actual project.

As for the kits, I think you'll love them! The My Reflections Kits have the duo sided background papers. You can turn back a corner for embellishment or take a craft knife, cut and X in a box, turn the pieces back and attached with an eyelet or brad. Makes a cute frame.

I have the spring kit for scrapbooking and I LOVE IT. Very nice quality and the pages were easy. I felt a little guilty b/c I didn't really stamp anything while using the kit, but I am SO pleased with the results.

I just ordered the new one, Elegant Bouquet. I'm going to use it for some heritage pages.

Good luck and have fun!
Ashley

PS I edited this to note...although SU kits are more $$, they include more paper and stickers.

I haven't used any of the Level 1 kits (pre layed out scrapbook pages) but I have bought some of the Level 2 kits and My Stikcease packs, and I love those! The patterened papers are really nice and the stickers good quality. I also really like thier My Accents embellishment packages. There are some new colors that are terrific! I've got quite a few stamps sets too, and I've never had any problems with ripping paper, that sounds awful! Have a great time and let us know what you get and how you like it!

Also, be sure and get the pamphlet on how to make 6x6 scrapbook pages from 4 pieces of 12x12...It is on the page with the idea books and it is 3.95--I think and worth every penny. I use SU products to make them.

The kits are wonderful! If you have a lot of scrapping to do, this is a quick way to get it done. And the pages turn out great.

I love the idea books, and they fit in a regular binder if you don't want to pay for theirs. There are also some really cute card kits in this month's Reflections; nice spring and birthday ones. I bought some of the christmas card kits, and I loved then because they were SO easy! I know you do SU and so you want to show off your stuff, but these are cheaper than Hallmark by a TON and they'd go great in the "Mom, it's Jack's birthday today, I need a card in the next 3 minutes" box, if you know what I mean.

I agree with the idea books!! I picked up 2 of them at a party I just recently went to. I love them! Kate, thanks for the binder tip. I just got the books about 2 weeks ago and started looking at them last night for ideas. I was wondering what to do with them. I've got binders!!! Have fun at the party!

Devildog, I just got done playing with some CTMH sayings sets that my girlfriend owns; maybe you need some phrases or an alpha set in a font you don't have.

Default well...

I just ordered a small alphabet (upper and lower), 2 phrase sets (Love quotes from the mini and Comforting thoughts), the sleepover set, and a few others. I met someone from CTMH and we are "trading" orders. It's okay to like something else too.

You cannot go wrong with the 9 X 9 Album and Kits....very cute, theme oriented and just lovely when they are complete. As far as I know CTMH is the only one who makes the 9 X 9.

I usually order cardstock, I love the white core! Some of CTMH colors do coordinate with SU inks. The cardstock looks great when you tear it or sand it

Just wondering if someone would be able to advise what CTMH colors coordinate with SU inks. It would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you Patti for the list. I'm just wondering if this could be taken a step further and what patterned paper from CTMH would coordinate with SU carstock?

Hi ladies: I just received my CTMH order (it took a while :( ) but am very happy with what I got!

I ordered 3 of the 9x9 kid scrapbook kits and the Calendar set. The stamp set looks like the Making Memories one with all of the months and years but I think this one will work MUCH better than the Making Memories one!

Thanks for all the help.

Scatty - we have patterned papers that come in all of the listed colors, plus paper packs that coordinate with the scrapbooking kits. Based on the list above, in my opinion here is a sampling of paper packs from the main catalog that would probably match:

Make a Wish - colors are Spring Iris, Sunflower, Citrus Leaf, Heavenly Blue

Beach House - colors are Breeze (new), Indian Corn Blue, Desert Sand

Winter Fest - colors are Pansy Purple, Indian Corn Blue, Outdoor Denim, Amethyst (new)

Heaven Sent - colors are Heavenly Blue, Seafoam, Buttercup, Blush (new)

On Your Toes - colors are Amethyst, Baby Pink, Buttercup, Pansy Purple

Goal Girl - colors are Orange, Grey Wool, Heavenly Blue, Keylime

Giddy Up - colors are Cranberry, Desert Sand, Indian Corn Blue, Black
