If you are a SU demo they give you a special rate. You have to call them to get the info though I think...or email them or something... but I love my Carl cutter!!!! IT IS WONDERFUL!
A large Fiskars cutter is on sale at Micheal's crafts right now for 14.99!! Thats cheap! The same one is in the stampin up catalog for 24.99. I believe it's a good choice!
I have had 3 different Fiskars paper cutters, even the big one with all the different blades. Had problems with all of them not cutting straight. Finally went and invested in a Carl Professional Rotary Trimmer and I love it. It is just a matter of personal opinion.
I too, had several Fiskar trimmers and was so tired of slightly uneven or curved cuts, frayed edges so I post the same questions you did and because of that I invested in Carl cutters as well. I have a 12" Heavy dute DC-210 rotary cutter and the DC-95 6" rotary cutter. I love them both. I keep the little one on the table with me at all times. I love having my paper cut straight and even with perfect cut lines.
I also purchased my cutter through everafterarts.com. I am a demonstrator and received the discount. If you are not a demo and you want to check out these cutter first, go to Staples Office supply, they carry them in their stores, which I just found out. You can check them out and see what you would like or not like about them. They are so much better than the Fiskars, in my opinion. Although, I have never owned a Fiskars rotary cutter.

How many sheets of paper can you cut well with either of the Carl cutters? I would like to invest in one of the bigger ones but was curious on how many sheets I could cut at one time.
Thanks everyone for your input on the paper cutters. I have another question - Do you have problems cutting cards that already has different layers (like a bordered center picture that's already on the card top). It seems that because the bar can't press down completely I get crooked cuts. Hope this explanation is understandable :oops: I cut then layer as I go - does everyone else layer things on the card top last??? Thanks again for your help; as you can tell, I'm a novice. :?
I begin with my base card and build layer by layer. That way you have less waste and you also will not build then stamp and loose an entire card if you misstamp!

Two faves here, depending upon need:
Heavy Duty: CARL - any of the heavy-duty Carl's - I *love* my 15" but wish I'd gone to 17" so that I could cut 12 x 12 on the diagonal.... I can cut about 8-10 sheets of c/s at one time, depending upon Mfgr... fewer with SU and Bazzill, more with Wausau, etc.
Everyday: EK Success Cutterpede rotary cutter - *MUCH* straighter cuts than anything ever provided by Fiskars!!!

Off and on there have been threads on this site about the best paper cutters. It seems to me that the Fiskars have gotten mixed reviews, no matter what style, but the Carl owners have been overwhelmingly positive about those cutters.
I have the old Fiskars that SU used to sell, and I've never been thrilled with it. I plan to check out the Carl cutters at Staples. Now I see that Creative Memories has come out with a 12" cutter. I saw a positive comment on another thread about that cutter.
If anyone else has any first-hand knowledge about the CM cutter, I'd love to hear about it. Also any new comments, pro or con, about the other ones out there. Cutting is such a big part of stamping and scrapping that I definitely want something better than what I have, and I want to spend the $$ wisely. I trust the collective wisdom of this site for guidance!

I posted on another thread. The new Creative Memories cutter is AWESOME. It cuts straight, and I think it is easier to see where you are cutting. The blade is on the edge of the rails, not inbetween them
I have an 18" Carl and also the 6". Any suggestions for keeping the magnetic arm on the big one from shifting? Also, on the little one, how do you cut anything over a couple of inches? I wanted to have the little one for scoring, but can't figure out how to put a 1/2 sheet of cardstock in so that it is scored down the middle.
Hi, I am brand new here! I am also fairly new to rubber stamping and scrapbooking. I used to do a lot of sewing and have a Fiskars fabric rotary cutter. I would like to have the CM cutter someday, but for now I am using what I have. It isn't the best, but it works for now.

I have a Fiskars cutter and it's awful! It doesn't cut straight at all (I thought it was me at first!) and the blades dull fairly quick. I think I will also have to look into the Carl one...we don't have a Staples here but I think Office Depot also carries them.
I own the small 12" carls cutter. It is portable. Does anyone else have this one? Mine may be dull, but I can't get the thing to cut straight to save my life. The arm doesn't seem to have an "ending" stoping spot, therefore the paper doesn't line up exactly?? Clear as mud? My friend has the cutterpede and LOVES it. I can't decide if I should replace my blade, or just buy a new trimmer.
