I'm considering getting this set but I'm wondering if I'll really use it that much. Maybe I should spend the money on an alphabet set instead? Does anyone use this set a lot? I need someone to help me decide!!

My UL has it. I don't think she uses it that much. Come to think of it, I've never seen anything she's done with it. She said it was a real pain to mount. All of the trimming involved was tedious.
I have used mine quite a bit and am glad I have it. The tiny words are great for tags, center of flowers, etc. I used them several times when I embossed a heart and also a slide mount to make it look like metal. I embossed them about 4 or 5 times and the last time, while it was still warm I stamped (with no ink) into the image with the Flexible Phrases. I've even used this technique at workshops and the ladies loved it.
They do however, take a while to mount! I'd agree with that!
I've been wondering about that set too. I've decided not to get it mostly because I think it's too expensive. Most customers aren't going to just fall in love with it that much to spend that kind of money on it. I also thought about the mounting part of it - ugh! That would take me forever! I don't know - that's just me... I've decided against it but it looks like there are a lot of people here who really love it. Good luck with your decision!
I got it about a month ago (free with my demo startup kit) and don't use it much. It seems that whenever I decide to use it there is always one word I need for a phrase that it doesn't have. I guess I need to look up that list of possibilities. Right now I just feel they left out some major words.
I absolutely love this set. It is well worth the money. As a demonstrator I try to use it for everyworkshop I do to try and increase sales for the hostess and myself. I usually offer to anyone who buys it the list that is posted here on all of the different word combinations that you can make with it. True, the cutting and mounting is a pain, but like child birth, you soon forget! I am currently posting a swap that uses this set. Here is the link to it. I'll be posting all of the creations in a gallery once the swap is over, so stay tuned!

I use it a TON!! It is a great set for tags, collage type stamping, etc. If you earn any free sets through SAB, this would be a wonderful set to get. I will admit that it was a pain in the behind to mount, but there is so much you can do with it. I try to use it at at least 2 WS a month.
I love this set soooo much! I use it all the time. For scrapbooking as well as cards. I love using craft ink to stamp words on the grosgrain ribbon, and for stamping on small tags and punched circles and squares. I just keep it in close proximity whenever I stamp and invariably I use it every time!
I bought it too, but I think that the journaling fonts may be a better investment because then you can make the words you want in whatever font you want
I just ordered it and can't wait to get it!!! Is there a link on how to mount it? I'm a little stressed about mounting it and I don't want to do it incorrestly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't have it but everytime I go to my demos to scrapbook I use it. She told me that is wasn't that bad to mount as it's just straight lines and no "fancy cutting". If I had the money I'd buy it for sure.
Have it... love it... use it almost every time I stamp. It is an investment, but it's one I know I'll keep forever as it's not going to go out of style, etc. One mounting tip... if you use the Stamp-a-ma-jig, DO NOT mount the words on the left side of the wood block... unfortunately, I know from experience!

Janet, this reply is a bit lengthy but I hope it's helpful!!
Here is a pic of what my set looks like mounted. First things first: you have to get one of the divided alphabet cases to store them in- it keeps them standing straight up and in nice, neat rows!!
I can't remember if the set comes in the divided cases, but if it doesn't, ask your demo if she can get one for you. Demo's can buy them as supply items in packs of 6. (hint: these divided cases are also great for storing your ink cartridges, ink refill bottles, sponge daubers, and more!! so you could probably use more than 1!)
As for deciding what words to mount on the top and the sides: there was a thread a few months ago about whether to put them together alphabetically, or put common words together like: happy & birthday. Inevitably though, with this approach, you end up with stray words at the end that don't really go together.
You can see I used both methods. First I took the longest words, because they must be mounted on the top, as the sides of the wood are shorter. Then I alphabetized all the long words. I took all the left over words and tried to match them with 'coordinating' words that would create "everyday flexible phrases!!" such as: day dream; all together; my favorite; best friend; thanks for; you get the idea. In the end, some words just get thrown together, such as: special & little
Then I typed up this "cheat sheet", which I store right in the case next to the stamps. The cheat sheet is divided into 4 blocks, to match the layout of the stamps that are arranged in 4 rows. The first block of words matches the first column of stamps. the 2nd block matches the second column, etc... This way, I can look at the sheet and when I want to find the word "Good" I know it is mounted to the side of the HALLOWEEN block, which is the 5th stamp down in the 2nd row. This saves me so much time so I don't have to keep flipping stamps on their sides to search for a word.
Organization is the key to making this set fun and easy to use!! Enjoy!!
I have this set and I love it. I mounted while I was watching television one night. I take it with me to all of my workshops and I use it and encourage my customers to use any words they want... I have sold at least one set at each workshop. This set has endless possibilities!! I hope they come out with a part 2 also.
I debated a long time before spending the money but it was worth it. I use it for tags, etc., but have also used the heck out of it when working on my kids scrapbooks. I do have to agree, it is a pain to mount - but I hate mounting any of them myself!
I use this set all the time and love putting it out at workshops so that people can personalize the greetings on their cards. I've sold several sets -- usually not at workshops but as follow-up orders later. You can tell that the customer has been thinking about buying it ever since the workshop!
I absolutely love this set and can't do without it. Love it for my scrapbooks and love it for cards too. Just a simple little word is sometimes the perfect addition to a card such as with this one:
To anyone who doesn't want to set theirs, you can send it to me and I will mount it for you and send it back! LOL I do not mind the mounting and setting... it is not a big deal to me now that I have my Rubber Scissors... if you have not made that 20 dollar investment, I HIGHLY suggest it! Wish I had gotten them last year when I started really getting into stamping!!!
It's like any word set, you have to get into the habit of using it. I'm looking forward to using it in my sons' scrapbooks. I found it easier to mount than a double alphabet set. My mistake in mounting was cutting around the words too much, instead of straight across.
I organized my words first like in an earlier post, but I also mounted both lablels on the top of the stamp,so that when they are in the box, I can see all of them without using a chart. This was suggested in an earlier thread.
I also really angled my scissors out to leave alot of padding under the rubber. (Kwim? Like the opposite of undercutting?) This has helped the stability, which the thinner cushion has done as well.
The set does come in the divided case.
The jury is still out for me on this set. I guess I have been stamping for so long without it that it's not automatic for me to think of it. When I do, I like the result. I am looking forward to getting the alphabits with the matching punches, and now I really want the alphadots.
LOVE IT!!! I took a while to mount, but I did it while watching a movie so then it wasn't so bad.
It is soooo great to have when you're done a card and you look at it and think, " it just needs a little extra something in this little spot here" and VOILA! My EDF set always comes through for me. Also LOVE using to make little borders in my scrapbooks.
It was WELL worth the money (i'm not a demo so I paid full price).

What an AWESOME tip! I had not thought of this and have cut and mounted about 2/3 of this set ... fortunately I was able to peel off the stickers and rubber off either end and switch them.
