Pending is what happens the first month after a quarter if you didn't make goal. You have one month to make up the difference of what you missed plus $100 toward the current quarter. Dropped means you didn't make it out of pending.
I can't imagine it's as bad as all that-given that MANY things on that list you can order alternates for. And can you really have too much Mono? :lol: And it's only roughly $200 for the loot.
Hmmm....I may have just convinced myself to drop and sign back up....:lol:

Yeah, and you can pick all new stamps. You don't have to get the ones in the kit. Every demo can use an extra stampin scrub and mist. Pretty much everything in it would be useable even a second time around. IMO

It's considered on a case by case basis, though. And I only know this because I called and asked them recently!

Case by case is the exception to the rule. The rule is if you drop, you have to rebuy the kit.
And I couldn't imagine having to buy the kit again, why would I want double of everything I have? I have all the stamp pads, I don't need any more. I have the scissors, the cleaning pad, enough sets to scare my movers, I just couldn't imagine having to do it again or what I would do with all the dupes.

If you were to purchase it all on your own (but c'mon, there must be a couple of people who'd order once in awhile), it would cost you 300 less 20% (demo discount), plus s/h. In my state, the demo disc. basically covers my s/h cost.

So I have been considering for awhile now whether or not to be a SU Demo. My problem is that most of the people I know are not into Stamps or Scrapbooking. I have tried to drum up motivation & excitement with more people then I care to say....Anyways, I have heard of people signing up & buying the $300.00 every 3 months, & seriously have thought about doing this. Is this what they call a Hobby Demo person?
Also, somebody told me that Demo's get more then 20% off....is this true?
What other perks do Demo's receive, and how often are meetings & for how long?
If anybody can help me out with this info I would greatly appreciate it! (I even have the money set aside to buy the started kit....although I have tons of new sets & supplies that I have already purchased recently.)
Honestly, I don't consider it bad to have to purchase a new kit. I'm left with no one active between me & my 5th level upline. I'm resigning at the end of the month & resigning under her in March. I had fun customizing my kit & will find something to do with the dupes. I'm one of those demos who has an always changing, ever growing wish list & was able to knock a few things off of it. IMNSHO, it's a bargain!

Betsy is right, but the quarters are fiscal quarters, so like now, I've sold $254 dollars January and February (weather did not help my WS schedule). That means I have now until the end of March to sell $46 more dollars to stay active until the end of June. The $46 won't be hard, I've already got that much waiting to be entered for March first.
The one thing about being dropped and resigning is that if you don't want to be under your current upline, you have to wait 6 months and what I found was there wasn't a whole lot of leeway on that one. I tried using the "we're 3000 miles apart" to which I got "I'm sorry, you'll still have to wait 6 months if you want a new upline." HOWEVER, finding SCS has made a long distance upline not a problem at all.

If you are serious about resigning, call demonstrator services at 1-800-STAMPUP and explain to them what happened. They will most likely allow you to resign up without the purchase of a new kit. They will probably require that you also put in a small supply order like some mini catalogs or invitations to show that you are serious but I have had a demonstratorin my group reinstated without purchasing a new kit. Stampin' Up is an awesome and very understanding company!

i dont think having to buy a new kit is bad, i mean...you can always use those duplicate items as incentives for those who buy... im sure new customers would LOVE a black ink pad along with their first order with 50$ purchased or something like that...be creative...thats what its all about...

Stampin' Up! has actually changed this policy. You can now send a letter of resignation to SU! and then re-sign under another demo as soon as you get notification from SU! that you have officially been dropped. This is nice because many people didn't want to wait to sign up again because they had workshops scheduled. They didn't want to lose the sales, but wanted to change their uplines.
I wouldn't recommend doing this just to change your upline if you yourself have a large downline. If you drop, you will lose all of your current downline. BUT if you don't have a group, I suggest you drop, buy the kit again (GREAT VALUE!), and sign up under someone that you will feel more comfortable with.

This shouldn't be much of a surprise for demos as it is clearly stated in the contract. If your current upline didn't explain this when you signed up, then perhaps you should shop for a new upline....

You can't sell current merchandise. As all the stuff in your kit would be current-that would be a violation of your agreement. Of course, if-like me-you substituted a stamp set that then went on the retired list-you could sell that once it was retired.
Buying a 2nd kit isn't a bad thing IMO-I would look at it as "BONUS!" more than "BUMMER!". So you have doubles of some things-big deal! This way you have a "nice" one that you can use and one that you can take to workshops or for the kids to destroy. I always look at the bright side. And Jenny is right-$200? or $400? You be the judge. :lol:

I believe this only applies if your immediate upline is no longer active. You still have to wait the 6 months if you just want to change uplines.

Are you sure your not talking about selling the stuff at a discount on an auction site? If you can't sell current merchandise none of you SU demo's would be in business LOL. Its also my understanding you can offer discounts (if you so chose) on any current merchandise. My demo discounts all of the sets going into retirement every year
If you keep it wrapped couldn't you sell it to your customers. I don't mean advertise it but when your customer places an order for a black ink pad can't you just fill it with the one you have that unwraped? Same with the stamp sets, I don't mean list it on ebay but if you have it do a workshop with it and then someone is sure to buy it and you can give them the one you have that is unmounted.
No-because that is considered inventory. The whole point is to sell OUT OF THE CATALOG. If you have it in your possession and you sell it, you are violating your Demonstrator Agreement.
For your business-if you want to offer things out of the catalog at 50%-that's your business. Not good business, but yours nonetheless. But again-if it is in your hand/house/car-and it is current-you are NOT to sell it. I think that is called cash-n-carry.
EDIT: karin-I couldn't tell if you are being fasicious-or if you are just being silly, but yeah-current catalog=current merchandise...again, you are not to sell current merchandise unless you submit an order for that merchandise with SU!...

Stampin' Up! told me that i would have to buy another starter kit if i wanted to start selling their product again...I was dropped for not meeting their sale requirement.
I probably buy enough now every 3 months to meet it but happy with where im at.

I agree about this not being allowed. If you sell anything current without first putting in a new order for it, you are in violation of SU policy. This is why we demos get so up in arms with the ebay people selling sets not yet available to the general public. Cash and carry are definitely not allowed.
