Please help. I bought my SU Pastels (chalks) about a yr ago and very very rarely use them.... I try to use the q tip to apply and then use the blender pen, but it doesnt work so well. i have also tried to dip the blender pen directly into the chalk and it doesnt seem to work too well.... What am I doing wrong. Please help! :(
Get some sponge daubers (the ones from SU are great). This helps you pick up a good amount to be used for poppin pastels (rubbing chalk over an image stamped in Versamark). Otherwise, fingertips work great. I've never used the blender pens with the chalks b/c I don't want to damage / dry them out.

I use sponge daubers. Over a period of time I have accumulated 34 and label them what color I use on them. I store the daubers in the new plastic channeled boxes (the ones alphabet sets come in).
Hi:
You may want to try eye shadow applicators. They come in a packet of 12 (double sided) for $2.00.
I get the ones with a semi-pointed end and a round end - this allows me to chalk stamp images with more detail.
The eye shadow applicators last longer than the SU applicators and you can get more chalk on them.
Do you have a Versamark pad? I LOVE doing poppin' pastels with the VM pad and using the sponge daubers - works best with bold stamps. I did a very simple card at a ladies' luncheon at our church, and everyone loved it.

At our Group on Saturday night, we used the chalks and used it different ways: with cotton ball, q-tip, blender pens & the aqua painter. Our demo told us with the aqua painter, just to use it on a little corner of the chalk otherwise it could dry it out. All those techniques worked great for us.

I do NOT like the applicators that come with the pastels. I usually use regular old Qtips to apply them if I'm coloring with them. I'll use a cotton ball/sponge dauber if I'm doing poppin' pastels!

I use cotton balls...but tampons...MMMM, I'll have to whip those out! I can just imagine my DH walking in on that one! He would probably turn and walk out.
