Default Overseas Military Demo Question

To all those Demos out there. . .Does Stampin Up have any rules governing being a demo overseas with an APO/FPO address? Any restrictions on shipping, workshops, minimum orders, etc. Any info would be great. We just relocated overseas and I am thinking of something to pass the time and meet people. I am in the thinking stages and would hate to make the investment and then learn of restrictions. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
When I was in Germany, you could not use the APO address for business purposes. Which meant, no receiving packages that were meant for sale, no sending packages that you received money for. You had to get a German postal account. I think that all of that was done for tax purposes. With that said, there were tons of people over there who did direct sale and received/sold items using APO - you just have to be saavy and subtle about it.

In order to sell overseas SU! requires that you get a commander's signature. However, if you are not permitted to sell you go one military status which allows you to order for yourself and friends, you will still recieve mailings and such but you are not required to meet your quartely minimums while you are there.
A lot of this depends on the Status of Forces agreement (sofa) of the country you are stationed in. I would check into that before I made my decision but I know there a quite a few successful demos in Germany.

I am currently an SU demo overseas, In Germany...here's the skinny for this area anyway.

Even if you are permitted to sell here (per commander's approval), you will be on military status which means you will not have any minimums, because we are only allowed to sell to American customers. Because of that limitation they do not make us meet minimums. I am a hobby demo, but know MANY demos here who sell and do very well. We do not craft stores around us so we are the only place to purchase these types of items (as well as CTMH & other crafting type businesses that is).

Hope this helps...

I'm in Japan with the Marine Corps. I signed up over here so it's all I know.

I had a special form from SU that I had to get command signature on. This was for Military Status, not Military Override. Basically, it has two blanks for the command to sign saying I am allowed to sell to those on base (it should say to SOFA status personel IMO), and that I am allowed to recruit on base (per SU's requirements). It was fairly easy for me on this base, but I know others have had a more difficult time depending on the country and commander. We have no quarterly minimums here.

Good luck!
