I'm not the origional poster, but I have done many Secret Sister swaps before, so I guess I can explain a little
There are a couple of different "rules" but they are all basically the same thing. One person is a coordinator. everyone who wishes to particpate sends their forum name, their real name, address, birthday, and maybe even a list of likes, such as favorite candy, favorite color, maybe in this case favorite accessory, etc. THe coordinator would then assign you a Secret Sister. THey usually run for a time period of around 3 months. So the "rule" may be that everyone has to send their SS 3 cards and one gift under 10 during that time. Some SS groups do 3 gifts, some do a couple cards and agift, some do all cards and no gifts. Like I said, the specifics are a little different but all have the same basic idea. Usually with the last card or gift the SS reveals who she is to who she has been sending to.
Sometimes you get someone who wants to participate but doesn't send anything to their sister. In the beginning there are 1 or more people who say they will be angels. THe angels job is to fulfill the obligations of the flakey sister and spoil the girl who got flaked on. Usually there is some kind of thread or board for the sisters to post on when they get their card, gift, or whatever so they can say thanks to their still secret sister. The coordinators job is pretty involved, as they have to keep in contact with the participants to make sure that they are sending what they are supposed to AND to make sure that everyone is getting something from their sister, so that if someone flakes, they can quickly call for an angel to help.
I hope this made sense and didn't confuse ya'll more. If you still have questions I can hopefully clarify for you
I have done many secret sisters swaps on on other boards and they are so much fun also done the 2 litter bottle swap and it was alot of fun specialy when you take it to the post office to mail it and they give you this worried look its funny. If you do one I would be interested.
i'm in my 4th secret sister swap right now, and it's reallly fun! you get stuff in the mail from a secret person, and don't find out until the end of the 3 months (or however long it goes for) who she is.
the last round i was the host though, and my s.s. flaked and didn't send me ANYTHING. =( but that wasn't here on this site.

Ooh, I wanna play too. I'm a little busy right now so I can't coordinate. But it's definately something I'd like to do. I could be an angel on call person, or full blown participant.
I would like to join also.
I am in Canada I don't know if that will make a difference but I would still like to play.
I don't think it makes a difference if you are in Canada. I think the postage is a little more, but that doesn't matter. I don't know about sending things other than cards to Canada, though. You might give us some tips on customs, etc. once we get going.

I have done a couple of these on another board and they are definately fun. I have done the 2 liter soda thing too. I would love to join!! Maybe at the end of the swap is when we could send the soda bottle filled with all of the goodies!!

I am a teacher and we do this at school and leave it in the mailboxes and everyones reactions are great. Of course you do get a few people who spoil it but most peolple are thrilled. Thanks Mea
I would love to participate in this as well. I have always loved Secret Santa (or as my son's class did it this year - Secret Snowflake), so getting to do it as an adult will be a blast!
Christine Is it too late to sign up? I'd love to participate in this!!
Curiosity is killing me...what do you do with the 2 liter bottle???? Please someone, let us know.
