You can use a brayer to brayer them on glossy cardstock -If you stamp something on the glossy cardstock with black Staz On and then fill in with a white crayon on the parts you don't want to be colored (AKA crayon resist) then brayer over it with a Spectrum pad it leaves a pretty effect.
Make sense??

This is my favorite thing to do with them!!

Stamps that have lots of detail are good to use with spectrum pads. This example from the gallery is one of the best I've seen: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Just experiment with them and see what you like!

You can use sponges and pick up a couple of colors at the same time. They swipe it across the image Make sure if you need more of the colors that you try and place the sponge the same way you did the first time so you don't muddy the inks. It's not as hard as it sounds.

A narrow wide stamp like the party dresses, flowers or cakes from the Simply Sweet set looks cute when inked with a Spectrum pad. Very easy way to get an interesting look.

Definitely get the brayer soon, though as you will really want one. There are so many awesome uses for it and you will love your Spectrum pads with it!

Butterfly and balloon stamps are pretty with the spectrum pads. So are some flowers. Phrase stamps are good to use also!

I did a search in the gallery for "spectrum". There were 81 pages of results! Look through these and see what you like!

Do you have daubers? If you have daubers you could use them to smoosh the ink onto glossy paper - similar to a brayer, but covering smaller areas at a time. Also, Spectrums work great with solid stamps such as the background stamps in Little Layers or Simple Shapes. After creating your multicolor background, stamp an image in black over that. Very cool.

Use imagination and you'll come up with some fabulous spectrum ideas for using without a brayer!

Hmmm... I wonder if that 50% off sale is still going on!

HELP!! The perfect thread for my burning issue! I got my guts up this morning and just tried this technique - used the Little Layers ladybug in Versamark on white glossy. Then I used my brayer, with my spectrum pad (both for the first time!), and got kind of a madra color effect (I brayered in all different directions), which I really like. However, the color that came off doesn't look like a solid color - you can kind of see the brayer marks (the rubber from the brayer, not the different passes, if that makes sense). Am I using this correctly? HELP!!! :?

Not sure what you mean short4j by "rubber from the brayer"... you mean like you can see where the brayer was?

Perhaps you need to go over it more times to blend. Did you do that?

I think you may be right, Michelle. I just tried another one, but this time I did a versamark image, EP'd it in clear, then used my brayer over that - and I love it!! I think my first errors were that I was using the brayer in the wrong direction on my pad (duh!), and I wasn't going over it enough times, so you could see the rubber material imprint, which, now that I look at it again, kind of makes it look more like a Madra Plaid material. Without embossing, the stamped image is more subtle. I'll try to scan and post them both so you can see what I mean.

Thanks so much for your help! I'm just tickled that I overcame my fear of doing this! Whoo hoo! - J.

Here are my first two tries (I hope they come through). The first (ladybugs) was just using Versamark, and the second (flowers) was using Versamark and embossing, before using the brayer and spectrum pad. I like the second one better, but the first is growing on me!

P.S.: This is now my first (successful) upload as well! Whoo hoo! What a great day I'm having!!

the ladybug one looks like when I tried to do it on regular (non-glossy) paper. interesting that you got the same effect with the glossy.

love the paint prints card! looks great!

Bravo! the second one is definitely better, but you'll get the hang of it. I love these alot. Brayering is so easy and packs a punch!

One more tip for you. These WILL fade in time. They won't look so vivid next week. If you want to make the color stay vivid longer, spray it with Fixitif. You can buy it at Michael's. Works great!

Congrats on your first uploads too!

Mary, I have only used the one it came with - the red rubber one, and have had lots of fun with just that one! I know there are other applications for the other attachments, but don't know right off what they are. Can anyone else help?
