I updated my Windows (2000) this morning and have crashed in Splitcoast several times since using IE. I don't know if it's just me, but if it's not, I thought you might want to know.
I first tried the "advanced" reply option in a thread and that crashed me every time. I also crashed a couple of times in linking from my Yahoo mail to the threads.
I hope this is something that's NOT just me so I can take advantage of the full "awesomeness" (is that a word?) of your website once it's fixed!;)
I am crashing on just about every page I am going to with my windows 2000 as well and I am getting pretty mad about it. It has been happening to me all week and I have never had any problem before. I can't even go to the galleries anymore because I crash every time and if this is going to keep happening I am going to be really mad hopefully someone can help because I can't install something else.
Yes, after my issue earlier, I now find I am periodically crashing all over SCS. No apparent connection or warning. It's makin' me crazy!
I did get a message after defragging and rebooting that I have chosen not to "accept certificates" from [this?] site. I'll take anything you guys want to give me. LOL Any clues on a fix?
I'm not sure if this will help you, but last week I was having a horrible time going to any websites. I was using Internet explorer...........hubby works for comcast, so we called a tech friend and he told us to get rid of internet explorer, and download (free) Mozilla Firefox. OMG it is awesome, way faster, no more crashes, not a single problem. Just thought it might be worth a shot, I also told a friend about this and they downloaded firefox and are loving it too! HTH maybe

I'm having the same issues....takes me forever to get back on here...I'll be on and it's gone....Firefox isn't even working.....help, I need to feed my addiction
hmm, afraid I don't have much to offer at this point. I'd suggest one of two things:
- switch to Firefox as mentioned above (there's a link on our home page to the download)
- wait a few more days until we switch over to the new version of our forum software. I *don't know* whether this update will work better with IE, but it's the only hope I can offer right now.
are all of you on Win2k (Windows 2000)? if not, which version of Windows is causing you trouble?
trudee, curious why a browser change is not an option?

I'm running Windows XP Professional. I can't change browsers, because this computer belongs to my employer. They block all downloads, except for the ones they initiate.
Why on earth are you up so early?!?!?! {{{{Daven}}}}
I am running on windows 200o and have been all along why all of a sudden can I not do anything without crashing? it is really frustrating I don't want to have to download something else to my computer when I have been fine all along until now. There has to be something else going on. Just when I finally got a digital camera and I am ready to upload pictures and I won't even be able to see them. I am really upset. So if anyone knows anything let me know. I couldn't even look at the new fan club. I am so mad.
okay I have switched to firefox and it is fine but I also contacted the person that works on my computer and she says it is a virus and that is why we are having so much problems. Let me know when things are switched over and I am going to go on IE and see if it any better
i've been having the same problem for a few days now, but i ONLY get an "IE has encountered a problem" message when i'm on SCS!!! dh is telling me to stop coming on here - is he #*&%($@ nuts??? i ran a virus scan earlier and it detected nothing - what's going on please?!! never heard of firefox?!!
I was only getting it here as well and I don't know what the heck was going on so I just went to www.firefox.com and downloaded it because I can't live without SCS and it is running smoothly with this. I am inclined to believe that something is going on with the site since so many of us is having this problem. Firefox is free so I am not sure what is up.
I have been receiving "IE has encounted a problem" ONLY on this site. Every other site is working fine with IE. It seems to have started Monday for me BUT I had not logged onto SCS since Wednesday last week and everything was fine then. It is frustrating!

Welcome to posting! At least this problem (which I continue to have as well with IE) got you to talk to us. LOL
Just bumping this up to see if anyone has had insight into what's going on...it's happening to me too! And l'm crashing only on SCS, other sites are fine. Very frustrating!!
it will help us if you can give me more information. what version of Windows you're using, what version of IE, and what you were doing when IE crashed.
I've been doing some investigation, and haven't uncovered any information yet about problems with recent Windows updates, browser updates or software conflicts. but if you can give me more info it might help to narrow down the problem areas.
I'm using Windows 2000, Service Pack 4: IE 6.0, 2800, 1106C, SP1. (Being computer illiterate, all those numbers mean nothing to me).
This morning alone, I crashed while in the Forums>Family Matters>Support Group>Preg. Stampers-Newborns
Also when I was in one thread and wanted to go back to the Forums main page, I clicked on the back button, and crashed.
Then while in the Gallery>TLC77, I crashed when I clicked on a card to enlarge it and see it's details.
All this happened within about 15 minutes or so...I got frustrated and stopped browsing.
Awhile ago, others were mentioning that they get a "Runtime Error has occured, Do you want to Debug" screen that would pop up whenever they (me too!) would change cards that they were looking at in the gallery. My little box also says "line 31, Error object required". What can I do to get rid of these annoying boxes...any ideas?
If you can figure this out, you're a genius!! Thanks so much for all the hard work you do for us!
I'd like to give you this info but I have no clue where to even find it! I'm pretty sure it is Windows 2000 but what service pack? I only crash here on SCS. I've crashed in the forums, the gallery, and trying to upload cards.
Daven I just had 2 different IE application error boxes pop up before my windows crashed this time. I find I have the biggest problems in the gallery. (though it happens in the forums, as well, trying to open threads, or hitting 'back', etc) When I am trying to read my comments on my stuff, I open like 6 windows, because they keep closing out on me when I hit the next page to view, or bring up the card to read comments, or hit 'back' to get back to my main gallery page.....it's *really* a pain in the you know what!! (it happens on anyone's gallery I try to access, not just mine)
The first error:
Quote:
The instruction at "0x77f580db" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program.
The second error:

The instruction at "0x77f585c0" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program.

This is still the best solution I have found to eliminate IE problems. I have had NO issues since I installed and use this brower. And I use Window XP 2002.

Wish I could, but I can't install anything on this computer as it belongs to my employer.
I wasn't thinking when I opened my mail this morning and used IE. The very first SCS link in my e-mail got me: "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
You have my "particulars" in my first post. Unlike trudee, I am using Win XP at the office and am not having any problems there. I have defragged and run my antivirus software here. I do see a bunch of new posts on this topic have popped up over the last few days...
GRRRR! I've been getting error messages all morning! I'll either get the "page cannot be displayed" error message or a blank page with nothing but a "0" on it...I'm running Windows XP and this has been happening much more frequently in the last couple weeks...SCS is the only website I have this problem with.

Just FYI: I downloaded Firefox and I'm still having the same problems with a blank page with just "0" on it...

That's more us than you, Sassy. I've had the same, no matter what browser. Hopefully The Dudes will fix soon!
