Default TLC74 - Really Groovy Retro

Today's challenge is "Retro" and was suggested by Roberta/stampinbird. I
think you all with have a lot of fun with this one! Thanks so much, Roberta,
for sending these my way.
Here are some cards to get you drooling....
From rebuh:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
From Beate:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

From Kathy LeDonne:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

And here are two sets of directions:
Beate's Directions:
Retro technique is super easy and way fun. Take three colors from the same
color group (e.g. here blues) one light, one medium and one dark. Take a piece
of glossy white CS and use post it notes to cover up areas at random. It looks
better if you keep the them straight. Take your darkest color and brayer over
the entire CS. Next take some of your post it notes of and brayer over with
your medium color. Then take the rest of the notes of and brayer again with
your lightest color. Done. You have a cool background. Stamp however you
like.

Kathy's Directions:
This technique uses glossy cs and post it notes in 3 sizes. (Note: you can cut
them down to make smaller sizes.) Start by laying 3 of the smallest size post
its on the cs. Some of them can hang off the edges. Next layer two that are a
little larger and then one bigger one. These can overlap one another. You
should have some spaces on the card that are not covered. You pick three
values of the same color family or colors that will blend ok. Brayer the darkest
color first. Remove the large post it note. Brayer with the next lighter color.
Remove the middles sized post it notes. Brayer with the light color and the
then remove the remaining post it notes. This leaves white spaces on the card.
You can either leave them as is or brayer again lightly with the lightest color.
Stamp and embellish as desired.

I look forward to seeing all your creations!
As always, I am in search of suggestions for techniques for future TLCs! Please PM with suggestions and a link to the directions and/or a sample if you can.
Thanks!

If you have questions, please ask. If you have suggestions, please share!
When you upload, please put TLC74 in the keyword section when you upload, and then post a link to your card here in this thread.
If you need help uploading, click on this link for helpful information:

How can you neglect your brayer? Don't you use it to ink your backgrounds? I own 3!

I need a brayer now! I was never enticed to want one before! Beautiful samples and such a fun-looking challenge Beth!

I do have a dough rolling thing that looks exactly like one.....nah, but if I could think of something to cover it with to protect it, I might create a whole new technique.

I'm guessing you could use a sponge. It'll take a bit longer though.

Ok, just got finished, with three different attempts... all three went into the trash...I don't know what I did wrong, but they were terrible...might try again later...

This looks really great. I'm going to try to get to it this afternoon! Right now my kitchen table is covered with lunch stuff and surrounded by ravenous children, and I do like to have some room when I stamp. Later!

This was great fun. Thanks, Beth! With the exception of the boo boo on the left, I think it's kinda cute. One of these days, I'll learn to hold my camera straight, too. LOL

Groovy, baby!

I didn't think I was going to play, because I just don't LIKE glossy paper. After pouting for a bit, I realized... hey, I could try this with ANOTHER paper. So out came the shimmery white!

I had fun with a new technique and was happy with the resulting card, which is different from my typical look! All this card needs is an avocado fridge to be displayed on...

Groovy 70's Kitty Notecard

Thanks for the fun challenge!

Beth I thank you and my neglected brayer thanks you! This was fun!! I mostly use stampin' spots and only hv about 10 reg size ink pads, of course I don't hv a complete color family so I used black as my dark color, think it turned out ok, kinda looks dark purple anyway. Going to hv to do this one again! TFL!

Here is my card. Great technique. I'm going to have to play around with this for a while. I found out it's really hard to do with spots. I need more full sized pads.

Loving everybody's cards! I think this is such an awesome technique! I played around with it a while ago, but had no success. You ladies are inspiring me to try again!

Here is mine:

I needed to make a card for a swap, so this is what I decided to do using this technique. Love this retro look--only time my brayer gets used, though!

Very fun!! Didn't think I was going to get to play today without a brayer until I read Jeanne's suggestion to sponge the ink on the cs. That worked! Thanks, Jeanne.

This is my second one--the first ended up in the trash. Can do the brayer part but when it came to putting a clear image on glossy paper, I smeared it and just couldn't use it. I practice a little but decided just to do the background and add the rest on other paper. I may tweek the flower a little lower on the edge of the tag if I can ease the dimensional loose.

Okay, this wasn't the easiest card I ever made -- especially since I'm home sick once again. I guess I really DID need those antibiotics! Here's my card:
