Default HELP!! - Heidi Swapp Edge Distresser

Ok I admit....... my curiosity got the best of me!!! (and maybe my quest to have EVERYTHING)

While I was shopping at my favorite scrapbooking supply store...a gentleman was looking for his wife a birthday present and was asking for a "HEIDI SWAPP EDGE DISTRESSER" and I thought hey if it is something good enough to ask for as a birthday present I gotta have one... so I bought one for a buck........ now I have no clue as to what to do with it!!!

ANYONE KNOW WHAT I DO WITH MY NEW TOY???? how stupid am I?

I use mine to distress the edges of CS. Just hold it vertically and drag across the edges. Repeat until desired effect.

I saw it in a magazine recently and was thinking for a buck that would be money well spent. Wish I can find it though in the stores.

I have that one and A Stampin'Up! one. The SU one just came out in the new catalog.
You just run it down the edge of your cardstock-instant distresses edges. You did get a super cheap deal.
The one from SU had several edges so you can get a desired amount of distressing on the edges. Depending on which one you use, you can get slight distressed to very distressed look.
Have fun with your new tool!

I have the Making Memories one and love it. I am "straight torn edge" incompetant, so I can have straight and distressed edges all at the same time!

I have the making Memories one also. The SU one is part of the new cutter kit keychain-set.

I saw the SU one in the catalogue but it is a little too pricey in my opinion. I found the Heidi swapp one in my Local Scrapbooking store for $1.69 and at that price...I had to try it. Just run in down the sides of the cardstock. Vary the pressure or the amount of swipes to vary the distressing.

The Heidi Swapp one works great -- I bought it at a scrapbook expo last year for $1 and LOVE it! It does the exact same thing as any of the other distressers out there and I love the size of it.

ScrapbookPals has it for .89--just got mine but haven't tried it yet. I've been using my bone folder but sometimes end up bending the piece of paper into a crease so I hope this works easier.

I have the making memories one, and I think I use it almost everytime I stamp, on most things. It just gives your project a little texture, and it looks fabulous if you ink the edges after you've ditsressed it. Totally worth the $3 I spent.

I have the Making Memories one for about $2 or so, and it works great. I'm with Julia, the SU! cutting/distressing tool is pretty cool, but not $16.00 cool...........I still find myself using my *gasp* fingernail a lot, too!

I love my Heidi Swapp distresser. It works great. I used to used the blade of my scissors, but that was dangerous and it dulled the blades.

You talked me into it....you arm twisters, you!
I just bought the distressing tool from ScrapbookPal.com for .89! Then I just had to bump my order up to $25 for the free shipping (I did, didn't I?) so I added some Mono Multi, Queen and Co brads and a few other little fun things.

It's a sickness I tell you, a sickness :-)

I agree with what you ladies are saying about the SU being expensive, but I ordered one anyway. Did you realize that it also has a perforating tool to use with the new coupon set. It is so amazing, you just run it along the paper, it creates a tearable coupon book. The cutting and scoring tools are nice, no replacement for the big ones, but good for travel. I really like it, plus the 19.95 I spent on it went towards my monthly sales, I have always felt like every little bit helps. Prior to this, I was using a pampered chef .50 nylon scraping tool that comes with their stoneware for distressing and creating a very nice crisp fold.

You are cracking me up! That's me! ;) This place is dangerous...but I did hold off on the Rollabind machine last year (I am so proud of myself!!) ... that runs around $150 so if you broke down for 89 cents you are doing good!

LOL, You sound like me! I go to SAM's club to save money on laundry soap and the soap ends up costing me $180.00!

I stopped going to Sam's because I spend way too much when I go there, then when I get home all I have is Cheerios, laundry soap and whatever the snack was they were handing out as samples! Oh, and usually an industrial size container of some sort of junk food!!
