Thanks to Mary Joyce Climie (SCS member--climieclan), we are able to provide nice accomodations for a Dayton, Ohio Shoebox Swap for SCSers!
UPDATE 2/13/05: We're closed girls! The final count is 30. Please make your shoebox swap for 30 people. Please let me know what snack you are bringing if you haven't done so already. Remember, prepayment needs to be received before March 10th. I have noted who has already paid. I look forward to meeting you all.
UPDATE 1/27/05:We will be closing out sign up on Feb. 19th so we know how many we need to prepare for. We will have no more than 30 participants as that's the capacity of the deli.
Hostesses: Jan Ault and Lynne Bingham Date: March 12th, 2005 Time: 12 noon - 6 pm Location: Greek Isle Deli (Page Manor Shopping Center) 5524 Airway Rd Dayton OH. Go here for driving directions: http://www.mapquest.com Cost: $10 prepaid (See below for mailing address. Mail to me by March 10th)
Please bring a snack along with your Shoebox Swap for the total amount of people attending (TBA). The snack sign-up list is below.
Shoebox Swap Rules:
You design a card or scrapbook page. Then, you provide the materials for x number of people to create that card. Inside the box: include directions, cut and scored cardstock, cut cs embellishments, any other embellishments (ribbons, eyelets, etc.), anything a person needs to complete the card - aquapainter, heat gun, eyelet setter, etc. So, if 30 people are coming, you would put enough materials for 30 cards. You can separate them into Ziploc bags. You don't have to use a shoebox. Any container will work. Make sure you bring your own monoadhesive.
Refills will be available for $2.00 a piece.
There will be awards for Best Name Tag, Best 6x6 scrapbook page, and Best Anything but card!
To sign up, please respond to the thread and check "Notify me when a reply is posted". Updates will be posted on the thread. Please email me your full name, email address, and phone number so that I may keep track of everyone! Sign up by March 5th!
I am up for making cookies, mint chocolate chip, if everyone likes those. I will mail out a check along with my personal info on Tuesday. I am also going to forward this thread to my upline because she expressed interest.
I can't wait to meet everyone! The location is great because I live not 10 minutes away
There have to be more of you around the Dayton area that want to come and play. You aren't too far away. Carpool! Hitchhike! Greyhound! Harley! Just come.
C'mon!!! It will be fun!

Ok... I'm here, but I don't understand what a shoebox swap is and I'm very intimidated... a multitude of card supplies to prepare!!! yeow! I would love to do it, but I'm not even understanding what happens when we all get there. If there are 30 girls, each bringing suppplies for cardmaking, are we each making 30 different cards?!! (I do understand that 30 is an arbitrary number). Plus, I just won't know my schedule until mid-Feb to know if I can make it...
wow, this sounds like I'm really whining!
I truly am interested, just uncomfortable with my lack of understanding. Maybe somebody can give me a little nudge, please!! Thanks!!
Julia

Hi Julia!
You understand it! There won't be thirty, so I think you'll do just fine. And we'll help ya.
Did you read Lynne's explanation at the top? Let's say there are five of us. You would make a sample card and then have, in your box, cardstock and embellishments for the 4 other people to make your card.
It really is fun.
Jan

Ok, this sounds really fun. We just get together, stamp, eat and fellowship? What more can a girl ask for! I am really interested but not sure how far away Dayton is?
Julia, where in Indiana are you? My DH thinks that it is about three hours away. If I can get some of my stampers to come with me, I'm game.

Lynne...
Thank you for the PM and explanation... now that I's understand it, who would want to miss out?!!! This sounds like a lot of fun, so count me in please...
Jan...
I did read Lynne's explanation up top, but got stuck on the "30 card prep work" part... guess I don't have to design a card with an overload of embellishments, tho, huh?!! *smile* thanks for your help...
Emily...
I live in Connersville, just southwest of Richmond... only an hour and a half from Dayton (my favorite place to shop!) You should definitely plan a trip with other stampers up to Dayton... nice day trip for you!
Hope to meet you all there!! Looking forward to it -- now gotta go design that card!!
Smiles, Julia

Ok, Indianapolis is 100 miles away and I can get there in about an hour and forty five minutes. So it shouldn't take me more than 2 1/2 hours? I sent an email to some of my stamping friends to see if anyone is interested. But heck, I may have to come anyways with or without them.

Ok girls. Sign me up. You guys can't have all this fun without me. I would just sit at home thinking about how I could be there with you eating and stamping.
Ok, I'll PM you with a food or something. Usually I bring stuff like meatballs, macaroni & cheese or my yummy cheese dip that sounds great with those tostitos. But, we'll see. It's gonna be in the car for a copuld of hours. May need to stick to cookies or something. Maybe brownies.

1) Is the deli okay with us bringing in outside food? I just hesitate to bring food to a place that sells food. Or are we paying to rent a room?
2) Are there outlets available to use the heat gun?
3) Do we need to supply "recipe" slips to take with the completed card for later recreation?
Hi Shae!
1. Yes, we are renting the deli. That's what the $10 per person is for.
2. There will be outlets available to use the heat gun.
3. Recipes are not required, but appreciated.
Just let me know what you'll be bringing and I'll put you down.
