Default Neutral cardstock-what colors do you use??

Hi all,
Of the neutral cardstocks which ones do you usemost often?? I'm mostly interested in hearing about the following colors (but all comments are welcome!!):

Sahara Sand (any comp. to Kraft?)
Going Gray
Basic Black

I would like some of each of these colors, but don't really think I need 40 sheets of each!!

Thanks!!

I haven't used Sahara Sand but I use Gray and Black a lot. They are great for masculine cards and I use them for scrapping too.

I wish there was a neutrals multi-pack because I'd like a little Sahara Sand. I was hoping for that in the new catalog. But since it isn't offered, I've been thinking of trying to go in with friends...we buy a pack of a neutral color and then divvy them up. You might consider trying that with friends and/or customers.

I have white, vanilla, kraft, gray & Sahara. Honestly, I rarely touch anything other than the white and vanilla. But I have them, just in case

I've been thinking that it would be nice to try some of the Neutrals as well, but I don't want to purchase a whole pack of each. I was really wishing for an assorted pack too.

HMMM...maybe this would be something for a SWAP

I would be willing to trade some of my going gray card stock for some sahara sand if someone was interested in doing that. to me black is a must have neutral color. I also have confetti white and would be willing to trade some sheets of that too.

I use white and blush blossom for many of my neutrals. I think blush blossom is the most beautiful color SU makes and if it ever retires, I'm stocking up big time. It is heavy, like all the colored cardstock, so makes a sturdier base for a card than white or vanilla and is very pleasing to the eye. Grey also stands up well and looks great with blues and with reds. I love the black and wouldn't trade a single sheet!! I don't use it for the card base, but love to mat with it. Really makes an image outlined in black pop.

I don't mind having to get the grey or black in large packs as it isn't going to go bad or anthing!

I love Sahara Sand, and use it every chance I get. I tend to avoid white and black, because I feel they are too "harsh" if that makes sense to anyone other than me. I've never once used Gray. I always have black and white on hand, just in case I need them. I just rarely use them. However, I do use white more than black.

I use black, white, vanilla, sahara sand and chocolate chip, close to cocoa, creamy caramel and blush blossom. I use Kraft a little. I rarely use gray. 3 stamping friends and I split packs of neutrals last year. It was a great way to get 10 sheets of each. We included the glossy white and speckly ones, but I rarely use the speckly ones.

I'm going to order Naturals Ivory too. It was all over the new catalog on several set that I like, and it sold me.

Confetti White is my absolute fave neutral, with Naturals Ivory a close second. I bought two packs of the Confetti and a pack of the Ivory on the 30th to stock up before the price increase!

Love confetti white. Love vanilla. Whispering White tends to be too stark unless I'm really looking for a super white look. Sahara Sand is great--goes with so many other colours. As others have mentioned, Blush Blossom and the three earth element browns are also extremely useful.

I think SU!'s Going Gray looks like cement, so I never use it. When I want an SU! grey, I use Bordering Blue. It's a perfect colour to white-emboss snowflakes on. It's also great for masculine cards.

Kraft has a rather rustic or industrial feel to it.

Hope that helps.

I use confetti cream a lot, and vanilla and white. I use some Sahara Sand, but not quite as much. It looks really good with Earth Elements, so I'll probably use more as autumn approaches. I use black off and on--it's very dramatic, so not something I use all the time. I haven't tried the Naturals yet, but they are on my list.

I use and love all the neutrals (with the possible exception of kraft), but then again, there isn't a color that SU makes that I haven't found a use for. Even Gable Green (my 48th favorite color...)

My demo and I split packs of sahara sand, gray and black, I gave her a little more black and she gave me a little more gray, we each took almost equal sahara sand and I haven't used mine much but I plan to! I love the black cardstock, look at Nuttnhoney's gallery for help with black, she is awesome with it! I use gray a lot with burgandy and navy colors for men's cards, I didn't think about using bordering blue, so will try that next, thanks for the suggestion!

Really!? Well, that just proves yet again that there isn't any single product for everyone. I LOVE gable green. Use it all the time.

Now, glorious green, there's a green that I have no use for. Unless it's stamping something with a billiard table theme.

Good thing SU! has lots of selection. :-)

Vanilla and White, of course. I also love Confetti White and Shimmery White. Other than those, I use black and kraft a lot; sahara sand and gray very little.

I completely agree on the glorious green - ick -- and I love Gable Green!

I use White and Vanilla the most, then black. I do have Going Gray, which I love for just some plain cards with black.

I was hoping the Saraha sand would be a little more of a khaki color, but it is really more green than the catty shows ( in my opinion) and I have a bit of a hard time finding colors that I like with it.

I've never thought of using Blush Blossom for a neutral - will have to try that - Many thanks!

Sahara Sand has my vote. It looks wonderful with the pastels and goes very well with the Spring decorative papers. Yesterday I reached for it while doing a card with Nature's Sketchbook stamps (Strawberries) with red and dark green. It's softer and more feminine than Kraft, but can be used for Nature images, too.

I've been scrapbooking for 6 years and built up a Cardstock collection before discovering SU. I try to get rid of the non SU before buying SU similar color. I've used Whisper White and Can't wait to order Basic Black and Very Vanilla. (I need them quick) I've rarely touched my grey and am almost finished my color similar to Sahara Sand. I use white and black a lot. Don't like the confettis.

I love Sahara Sand. I seem to use Sahara Sand and Always Artichoke together a lot. And it looks great with Eggplant. Sahara Sand is my new favorite.

Default Neutrals

Black is my absolute favorite background, but Sahara Sand is a great neutral and I use it a lot. Kraft is also a favorite.

Sahara Sand is gorgeous! Try it with Always Artichoke and Bravo Burgandy--fantastic! You asked how it compares with Kraft; it's totally different. Sahara Sand is more grayish but with hints of green, not brown at all.
I also love Confetti White.

I buy black by the ream from a LSS and get it for $5 a ream. It is the same as the SU stuff. I buy my white by the ream at Walmart (Georgia Pacific 110 pound) and can tell no difference between that and SU white. I use creamy caramel a lot but I really do not like the Sahara at all. I use gray now and then with red and black, but not a lot.

I have Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Sahara Sand, Going Gray, Naturals Ivory, Naturals White, Confetti White, Confetti Cream and the only ones I ever use are Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Basic Black.
I thought that Sahara Sand would be beautiful but it looks NOTHING like what it does in the catty, should have known since the ink is suck a strange color, not "sand" colored, in VA anyway

Black and Sahara Sand get the most use, of the ones you named. If you haven't yet, please try them *together* -- WOWEE!! Stunningly elegant combination, IMHO. As for other favorite neutrals, I use the Naturals White a LOT, and am using Evergreen Ash (by Fox River Paper Co.) more & more. Lovely stuff. Good question -- I've gotten some great ideas from reading the answers. Gotta try the Blush Blossom thing -- it's one of my least-used SU colors.

Happy trails....

Please share the name of the manufacturer of the black you get by the ream -- $5 for 250 sheets of 80# stock is a *hugely* good deal! One of the things I love about SU's black is that it's a *true* black (to my eye anyway), and that's hard to come by. Most of the others I've seen have brown or blue overtones -- an exception is Neenah's Black Linen, but I don't always want the linen texture. TIA for your help.

Happy trails....

Sue
