I was wondering...when you mount your stamps...do you put the rubber on first and then the sticker or vice versa? Also, are there any tricks for lining up the rubber and the sticker?? :?
I do all the rubber first. Then I take the sticker, cut it down, peal it off, then turn it over and put it on the rubber, sticky side up. Then I carefully put it on the wood by sliding the stamp out from under it. It sounds harder than it types out....and takes less time than it did to type this.
I generally mount all the rubber, then the stickers. I always trim my stickers because I have a thing about the stickers hanging over the edge -- I hate that!
Sometimes if I'm a little confused about the stickers, I will stamp with them in a light color before I put the sticker on, then I can see right where the sticker should go (and which way).
I cut out the stickers, match them to their wood blocks so they're ready when I trim the rubber. I start with the biggest stamp and work my way to the smallest. I put the sticker on before the rubber.
As I just re-read what I wrote above, I suddenly realized this makes me sound really perfectionistic and controlling... :shock:
I first seal my blocks as I hate a messy block. I then trim all rubber. I then stick on and trim stickers...yes I trim them after they are on the block... then I add the rubber to the other side!

I have to do it this way because if I didn't I know I'd put some on the wrong size block and have to rearrange everything!
I trim all the stickers, lay them on top of the matching blocks. Then I cut out a stamp, put it on the block, put the sticker on top and move on to the next stamp.
Yesterday I was mounting a double alphabet set. I trimmed all the stickers and lined them up. Then, I separated all the stamps and put them in a pile. Big mistake. I eventually got it straightened out, but do you know how much b, d, p and q look alike, especially backwards?
I trim my stickers and place them on the block first, then trim and mount the rubber. I too hate having sticker overlap and prefer to trim them. I trim close enough to leave the copyright.

VERY FIRST - peel the name of the stamp set off the sticker sheet and put it on my box.
Then I trim all the stickers (HATE to feel the sticker over the edge!) and lay them on the appropriate block.
Then I trim all the rubber CLOSELY!!!
Then I put my stickers on (sometimes those blocks are deceiving!)

This is exactly what I do!
This is what I do too. I put the name sticker on the end of the box last. It means I'm all done!
Trim down the sticker so it fits on the block (usually I find they're too big). Then trim the rubber and mount it to match the sticker. Unless it's words or phrases, then I like to mount them in the lower left hand corner (as you're stamping it). It's a tip I received from someone that has proven extremely useful!
I find cutting and mounting stamps almost as much fun as stamping itself. And I can't bear to let a set go unmounted. If at all possible, I mount everything the same day/night I get it!! Yeah, I know...I'm weird. :lol:

I cut out all my stickers 1st! I can't stand when the sticker hangs over the wood! Then I trim all my rubber and put them on the appropriate block. Then I mount them one at a time. 1st the rubber, then the sticker. Iuse the sticker as a guide to put the rubber on correctly (at the right angle). I am very methodical... :oops: :oops: :lol:
I cut all the rubber first, match them to their blocks, then do the stickers. For anyone disliking sticker overhang - an emery board rubbed along the edge of the block works like a charm to clean it off.
i think it is interesting how many different ways there are to do this! i just assumed everyone did it the way i do... you know, the right way!??!!! just kidding. :lol: :lol: :lol:
i sticker the box first, then rubber, sticker, rubber, sticker. i trim my stickers as well - hate the overhang. but i don't trim the sticker off the curved side, since it curls around nicely and feels good in my hand when i stamp. i just trim it off the straight edge side where it doesn't fold neatly. don't like the fold over...
wow - we all have our ways don't we. until i read this, and started writing out my way, i didn't realize how particular i was.
