It's a holiday weekend! Once again, I have a line-up of challenges for you. This time there are prizes! All the challenges are for square cards. Each challenge will have a new layout/sketch.
I have loved looking at the square cards in the gallery for a long time. Only recently did I start making them. Why? I am too cheap to buy 5x5 envelopes! 3x3 cards are cute, but they're very small to work with and I never use them. I finally decided to try and use a standard medium envie that I use for 5.5 x 4.25 cards. So, my square cards are 4.25 x 4.25. They are easier to work with than 3x3. I tested the safety in the mail. No problem. It may not look the most professional, but I don't keep envelopes. So, if your budget doesn't allow room for special sized envelopes but you love square cards, these challenges are for you!
There will be 6 challenges posted randomly throughout the day on Friday. It starts at 8:00 AM EST. Challenges will be posted in this thread only. I'm not sure if the EDIT feature will be working tomorrow, so be prepared to look for each challenge in this thread. Hopefully, I'll be able to edit this first post to make it easy to find the challenges.
Each challenge will follow this format:
Keyword:
Limit: 4.25 x 4.25 square card; specific layout
Stamps: any
cardstock and ink: any
Embellishments: any
Rules & Prizes:
1. You may enter as many times as you wish.
2. No time limits.
3. You can only win once.
4. You must follow the general idea of the layout.
5. You must enter the code in the keyword box. Each sub-challenge will have its own unique code.
6. You must state the size of the card in the comments section. (Some people will only want to do the traditional 5x5.)
7. You may play if you want to only make 5x5 cards, but only 4.25 x 4.25 cards will be judged.
8. You must submit the cards by noon on Monday.
9. Winners will be announced on July 4th!
Jen, are you going to post everything to this thread, or just edit your OP, or post each challenge separately?
I'm going to try to edit the original post. If not, it will be in this thread. I shouldn't do separate threads because that makes it hard for the Weekly Inkling. ;)
ohh Yipeee! thanks for doing this for my birhtday (July 4).......oh, it's not all for me??? JK, when I was little I thought the fireworks were all for me, so just tried to run with it again!! This will be a fun weekend~I love the idea of the square in a rectangle envie! Thanks for the great challenge Jen!
If I'm going to play, I better get some sleep.................
Hmmmmm 4.25 square.......
Not now, silly! Go get some sleep............
Hmmmm 4.25..............

Woo Hoo! This sounds so fun! I hope I can keep up with all the sub- challenges.
Hopefully I will get up early enough to get to do each one. Thanks for this challenge, Jen!
I like the size you have chosen. :-D Makes it easier to use the reg. envelopes.
You smartie you, Jen! What a neat idea. I was all excited because I made a square card last night and didn't upload it yet - thought I was ahead of the game, but 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 - can't wait to see how that turns out! Here we go!

This sounds like sooo much fun! I hope I can find some time to play at least once! Great challenge Jen! I love square cards and I've never made the 4.25 size.
We're headed out of town for the weekend. I think I'll take watercolors and stamp some images and make some cards when I return. Hopefully I can get them uploaded by Monday. Great challenge Jen!
Just saw the challenge -- great one Jen! Have a pretty busy holiday weekend, but know I will have some time to stamp a few cards -- can't wait to play!
Ahhhh! I'm going to be out of town till Tuesday!!! Oh well...I'll still make them when I get back cause this is a GREAT challenge! Thank you so much Jen!
Great challenge Jen. I hope I get time to play this weekend. Maybe I can squeeze one in before my mom's appointment this morning. If I hurry!

The 2nd sketch has been posted, but it's pending approval. You can get the main idea from the samples. The squares do NOT have to be scalloped. The ribbon is optional, too.
