I am soooo excited for this weekend! I am hosting my first SU party! I invited about 30 people so I am sure half will show. My goal is to get everyone interested so we can start a monthly club. I let my demonstrator know my goal so I hope she does a good job! Does anyone have any tips or tricks on getting everyone hooked? I want this to be a great party! If all goes well and people are interested I would love to be a demo! Looking forward to your input cuz you all are so WONDERFUL and full of great ideas!
I host a party every month at my place and I think the key is great snacks on my part and great samples on my demo's part. She covers an entire wall with card samples. If your demo doesnt mind, encourage people to bring their camera. My first party was on the rainiest day ever. I figured I would be lucky to have five people show up. It was more like 25. Good luck and have fun.
Your excitement will definitely be an asset! Do you have anything that you've made yourself at home or That you gave as gifts? The more things you show them , the more apt you'll be to find something that catches their interest. Hope you have a successful demo!
I am betting that if your guests see your excitement they will all fall in line. AND I bet your demo is just as excited which can only help! Have fun and watch the Stampin' Up! magic work wonders.

I host partylite parties about every 4 months and they are always $700+ parties. I have great snacks and drinks! I always give goodies away like candles or votive holders! I am thinking about giving some papers and some scrap and stamp magazines out. Does that sound ok? I really can't wait...hope it turns out to be a wonderful party! All I want is my friends to get excited and start stampin and scrappin! It is lonely being the only one that does, I need some company!
Be sure to put out something YOU made, and point it out. Have your personal scrapbook or some cards you've made out. That helps people see that THEY can do this, not just the demo. Plus, they'll have more fun looking at your SB than the demo's, they know you.
Tonight is the party I am sooooo excited! I have had 16 people RSVP out of 30 and 3 call and say they can't make it! I wonder if any will show without calling? I just can't wait! Next I will be so excited for all my new stuff to get here! Hopefully out of the 16 that 8 will catch this wonderful addiction!
Wish me luck on a successful party! I will let you all know how it goes! Thanks for the advice on bringing some of my homemade stuff out!
Good luck, I hope it is very successful! I agree that your excitement is bound to spark the creativity in some of your friends, and letting them see your work is also great advice! The other thing I do when I host is to make some door prizes. They are all things I have made like cards or covered note pads. My friends always get excited about that! Be sure to let us know how it went.

having lots of card samples helps b/c it will get people interested in cards and projects they have the potential to create themselves. Good food and punch or hot tea or coffee with a dessert like cheesecake, will be as irresistable as the demonstration! lots of luck!
It's so easy to catch this bug! I had a workshop a couple weeks ago and was so bummed because out of 25 invites only 4 were coming. At the last minute 3 more came and I ended up with a $700+ party! Life is good in SU land.
I can tell you are so excited about this. I've been a demo for 2 1/2 years and I still feel as excited about each workshop as you do about yours. If you are excited about it, it will make others excited & will sell more. I hope you have great sales & get lots of free stamps! Let us know how it turns out!

So my workshop was $600 and I am getting 3 sets for FREE plus extra for free...(guess you all know it works) I was so excited and so was the demo she was really happy cuz I was showing my cards that I made and they were all interested in how I embossed. In fact 2 of them bought heat guns! My demo wants me to join SU......still thinking it over but I want to make sure these gals are serious. Tthat night about 5 of us decided to get together this week and play! Then I talked to 3 of them on Sunday and they all went to Michaels and got stuff....so I believe they are getting the bug!!!! So my party was a success! OH and 2 booked workshops!!!!!
WOW, mega congrats! that's how it started with me, and look where i ended up, a new demo, just joined last week, and VERY proud of it! i'm going to have a blast with it!
conrats Lias, sounds like you had an awesome time. it sounds like you would have the enthusiasm you would need to make a go of it if you did decide to sell. So don't forget to tell us all of the free stuff you got!

That's great!! Glad it went so well for you. With the gals coming over to play you're over halfway to a 6/25 club if you decide to become a demo!
Have fun!
You guys mentioned great snacks. I'm hosting my first SU party in a week and am wondering what snacks are the best. Please share your ideas. Thanks!
When I was a customer hosting parties my demo used tp always tell me not to spend too much money on food because it would defeat the purpose of getting free stuff!! LOL!!! Her theory was to make deviled eggs (buy the eggs at Costco or Sam's club) and make brownies from a mix. I've always been a "go all out" type of gal though. So for my first SU party as a hostess I had a potluck Mexican dinner. I made a tamale pie and everyone brought a little something. I had 22 people come! It was a great party! I don't remember the exact sales, but they were high. At that party we ate before the demo. Another party I hosted I served hot fudge brownie sundaes at the end of the Party while peopl were looking through the catalogs. I think any yummy dessert is always a hit!
