Got back from Office Max- spiral bound/laminated catalog!!

I just got my catalog back from Office Max. To have it bound it was Under $3.00 and $1.00 a page to have it laminated... So total cost was $4.70 with NYS tax!!!!! :lol: :lol:
I had mine done too. I did it last year and loved how well it held together so I did it again this year. I like that the pages are then protected and that you can lay it down flat. It cost the same here.

I had the front cover and the back cover laminate due to the excess "abuse", sorry a I meant use my last catalog received... Let me tell you what a blessing in disguise that I had it done...
Literally right after I got into the parking lot, I pulled out the bag that I had 2 catalogs in and open the bag upside down and low and behold both catties landed into a puddle.... The laminate saved both catalog from getting wet!!!! The bottom catalog had a little spot where the laminate seal must have been nicked due to a little water spot... but wow!!!! I definately recommend it!!!!!
So the man delivered LATE but he delivered!! woo hoooo.
I love the new organization. They have obviously hired a very savvy and talented web design/marketing team! You'll notice that the front cover is reversed. The Opacity on the colors for the artwork are less than the opacity on the text box for 'SU Idea Book and Catalog'. Consequently,the artwork falls behind the text box. You see the Idea Book and Catalog concept more than you do the artwork therefore you realize its a CATALOG!!! Last years was beautiful. I loved the colors.. etc but all you remember about the front is.. just that the colors. The idea that it is a catalog was not prominent.
ok.. enough of that.
FINALLY someone puts the colors up front so you can find them!! I'm forever looking for that page. I can remember page 7 already!! woo hoo!!
And once again.. another stroke of genius. The stamp images in gray but the finished card/scrapbook samples in BRILLIANT colors!! MOST EXCELLENT. No expense was spared on printing...You can bet the 6 color ink layouts were pricey but man o man.... it's going to really sell product this time!!!
The new get started kits are another BRILLANT idea. Excellent...Notice on these the use of bright inviting colors... someone took their color theory classes... oh..just delightful. Totally new and upbeat. Nothing old SU here!!
Oh oh oh and the stamps!! and the new background papers!! mmmmm ok... I'm in trouble.. I'm going to have to sell a child to get the money to buy all the stuff I need!!!
I am dissappointed in the Christmas sets. Where's my nativity set? Give me something traditional?!!! But I hear there is the holiday supplement?? yum... something ELSE to desire and wait for!! I'm really excited about what I'll see with the supplements and the additional items in those books.. can't wait...
Well, I just think this new catalogue is just wonderful. Good job!

We adopted our son in February, so I don't think I could part with him for any amount of stamps, but I hear that kidneys go for a good amount on the black market! :shock: Do they have a black market here in Germany? Beate. . . . .

I've just about got them raised. Two teens.. I don't think anyone will buy them anyway. The eat way too much, don't do anything, and are fiesty. So I think that's out. I need my Kidneys... hmmm well, have to give it some thought.

The first thing I did was got my catty front and back laminated and spiral bound at Office Max~~I have always done this with my cattys---it's with me 365-24-7 and really holds up awesome!! The price for me in Iowa for the total job was $3!!!!!!! Alot of my customers get theirs done too.
I also use the arrow post -its and put one of those next to each stamp set in the book I already have---that way it is easy to determine if I have that set or not. I then use the post-it tabs and tab each page of the stamps that I want to get

Hmmm, eats a lot and is fiesty. My son has two out of three symptoms and he's only one! Oh no! What am I in for? I sure can't say he doesn't do anything, he's into everything. OMG, if I had half that energy! Did I mention he's into everything?

In another thread, someone mentioned that in addition to getting their catty spiral-bound and the covers laminated, they had pockets put in the front and back - would those be on a separate page? Or maybe the pockets are part of the laminated front and back??
Anyway, I'd like to know how that works and what to ask for when I get my catty from my demo (soon-to-be upline!) when she gets back from Convention tomorrow.
Wow, Kinko's charged me 10 bucks for cutting binding and laminating!!! :shock: Oh well, the lady who did it saw the catty and wants to book a party, hee hee!!
wow think I might go to Office Max and have mine done.. Do they do it in 1 day or am I going to have to go back?? I live 30 minutes from mine. I have the last 5 years in catalogs and some of them look pretty bad!! That would be so awesome to have done..Maybe I will check with our local copy places here... even if they were a bit more might be worth it, we do have 2 of them within 10 miles from me.

Hey, Susan,
I went to office depot on the way home yesterday, and picked up several packages of Avery pocket dividers. I got four packages of 5 for 2.98 each - that's $11.92 + tax. They are like these, but without the index tabs: http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?...6330_SK_108130
Then I drove home, got my catalogs, and drove out to Kinkos to get them spiral bound. The charge PER CUT - so 17 spines, plus the cuts on the pocket folders, plus the clear acetate covers, plus the lamination front/back of one of them (my copy) cost me $120.80. (Don't freak - this is for 17 catalogs - 9 for me, 8 for Beate!).
I dropped them off around 1 pm, and picked them up at 6:30. Office Max screwed mine up so badly last year (personal) that I went to Kinkos to get my workshop ones done last year, and was very pleased.
Of course, last night I was checking them out (hint: do NOT try kinkos with kids!) I realized they'd missed the back cover on several, so for my trouble in bringing them back in, they will refund me.
Anyway - the spiral binding is terrific for your personal copy, and wonderful for workshops. I highly reccommend it!
This would work better than a picture - here's how I do my workshop catalogs. I do 8 this way, and it works out really well. An investment, but they do hold up *extremely* well. After a year of using mine, they look pretty new still!
All are spiral bound, and within that spiral, here's the order:
Heavy clear acetate sheet
Catalog Front Cover
Catalog
Avery Pocket Divider (cut to size, check out the link above for a visual)
Catalog Back Cover
Heavy clear acetate sheet
Now, inside the pocket divider I place recruiting brochure, current flyer, stampin' techniques booklet, any specials I might have, current mini-catalog, and the wish list.
Everything is nice & orderly, and all in one place. The stuff doesn't slip around like it did in the 3-ring binders I used. Once. I did these for my second workshop, and they have really saved my back and my sanity.
They spiral bound them and laminated the covers while I waited....no way would I leave my babies.....
They do not charge for the cutting off of the spine either....
Breakdown of the charges were:
$2.49 for the spiral bound
$2.00 for the laminating for the front cover and the back cover
$.32 NYS tax
$4.81 GRAND TOTAL
tOTAL eFFORT: pRICELESS
Total Time: 15 minutes for 2 catalogs and it was busy
I was gonna go with the pocket insert idea but at the time I couldn't remember what Jen had said she had put in so when I go back to do the rest of my catalogs I am going to have them put in the pockets also!!!!
I had my catalog spiral bound for $1.99 at Office Depot! It probably took a total of 15 minutes; I also had two curriculum guides spiral bound for school. I called ahead to see if they could complete the job without leaving the books. I have to drive 20 miles to any store with office supplies or services.
I know that Office Max here in Upstate NY does charge by the quanitity of pages in the catalog.... Our cattys just miss the cheaper rate....but believe me it is worth it!!!!! Even if you aren't a demo because it makes it so nice on your work space when you are trying to case a card out of the cattie and it leaves more space for you to work in and when you are trying to eat and look at the same time...it lays nice and flat!!!!!
