Default PLEASE HELP !!! 2 x 2 tiles as ornaments

has anyone (or their DH) drilled small holes in the 2 x 2 tiles to create ornaments (e.g., pulling ribbon/cord through a small hole to hang them)? If so, what type of drill bit was used and how long did it take? Hubby and I just tried a few with a new drill bit from Home Depot 9 (a recommended bit for the job -- we showed the guy the tiles) and it took us 5 minutes to drill into the tile and eventially break it. Every time!! So depressing!

Other than glueing (crystal effects, other glues, etc.) the ribbon/cord to the tile which is not my preference, how else could one attach the ribbon/cord to the tile?

I usually use a 3/32" or a 7/64" steel drill bit. The box says 10 piece High Speed Steel drill set from Black and Decker.

Usually takes less than a minute to do each hole.
