I've printed out all of the lists and marked them up with red pen - this is without even having SEEN the new catty yet - and it looks like a BIG order! Now would probably be a good time to take the plunge. I've been thinking about it for a long time. My questions: if I only want to start out as a hobby demo, do I still need to sign up under someone? Also, whenever I place an order, do I need to add an additional percentage to my total for this person?
I'm sure I'll think of many more questions, but this is it for now.
Thanks.

Yes you will still have to sign up under someone. That person will be there for you if you have any questions and help you out with orders and other things. And no....you won't have to pay her a %.
When you sign up you will get automatically get a 20% discount on your order. Your upline will get a certain percentage of your order from Stampin' Up! at the end of the month. The amount depends on her personal sales. You don't pay her anything.
Don't worry. Having an upline is a good thing. So make sure you ask people you are considering to sign up under what they are doing for their downline. Even if you just sign up to be a hobby demo...you should still ask. This is how we all started. LOL
Ask if she has a monthly downline meeting, a special webpage for her downline, if she will help you if questions arise, if she has incentives if (and don't shake your head...you might addict your friends and get good sales) you have sales over a certain amount, if she can give you one of each inspiration sheet.....things like that.
You should do it. It's a great kit, you can change the sets around....and it's the best company out there.
Once you do sign up as a demo, you get an extra percentage off of your FIRST workshop. So, I saved up what a I wanted to get and purchased all that neat stuff for myself with the extra discount!
Good luck! And just remember that we are all here to help, too!
Good point! Thanks, Joy. I don't think it will be difficult to come up with a larger-than-usual order after finding out about some of the neat new things in the new catty! This would be a great time to save an extra percentage.

Starting Monday, new demonstrators earn 30% off their first order instead of 20%. Stampin' Up! replaced the free shipping with your first hostess order with this 30% instant income.
Wow, I didn't know about that change. I thought Joy was talking about the free shipping on the first order which I had read about previously on this site.
although, if shipping is usually 10%, and SU is adding an additional 10% item discount but is still charging 10% shipping, it will come out to be the same as it has been. Am I thinking correctly?
Thanks.

Yes,
But if you have an open house and everyone places an order....you can earn 30% instant income instead of 20% unless you want to give out free shipping.
WOW! I see. This gives the choice to the demo. One more thing to seriously consider. I have read here about the changes to the kit. And now I know about this one. Any other major changes?
Thanks.

OK, if you can stand it, one more question please. Has there been any mention of the particular stamps sets that are in the demo kit? Have they changed any, maybe putting in some of the new ones perchance (too much to hope for maybe?).
Beate, how could you not share this wonderful news with me -- 30% off the first order!?! Woo hoo!! My agreement is already on its way to Utah -- I'll have to live vicariously through SCS until my catalogs arrive!!

You have until the following months end to do what was not met plus an extra onehundred or one hundred fifty dollars..so if you were onehundred dollars short in June you have until July thirty First to sell the two hundred or two fifty...I can' remember the exact number.
Thanks for the information, I too, have been thinking about becoming a demo. Right now I'm in line for a new job and am waiting to see how that turns out. The new job will be lots more training and during tax season a lot more extra work. Still thinking about it though, since the first two months of tax season is during SAB. Kris
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Michelle... I would LOVE to sign up today, but my DH thinks we just can't swing it right now... With buying his parents farm (papers should be signed by end of the month) and building a house (got those plans right here by me now) and we need a new van too, he might just be right THIS time.. soon someday really soon I hope!!
dang.. 1 more thing... in the starter kit what does a person do if they already have ALL of the ink pads??? Just wondering
