Arrow MAY06VSNM: 6:30 ET Don't Forget the Balloons! - Chat Thread

MAY06VSNM: 6:30 ET Don't Forget the Balloons!
Hostess: StampinDeedee

What's a fiesta without balloons? Only at this fiesta, we won't be blowing them up, we'll be filling them up, then stamping with them! Here's the challenge:

Fill a deflated latex balloon with about 1/2 cup of small textured objects, such as grains of rice, macaroni, jelly beans, or a mix thereof. Tie off the balloon tightly close to the lump of textured material. Press the balloon into an ink pad, then stamp on cardstock. The texture from whatever you filled the balloon with will create a really interesting background for a card or scrapbook page! So pull out those balloons, and show me where your creativity takes you!

I will be hanging around the "MAY06VSNM: Don't Forget the Balloons!" chat thread to answer any questions you might have. Please remember that you do NOT need to attach a link in the chat thread in order for your entry to be judged, but you DO need to enter MAY06VSNM in the keywords of your entry when you upload. Happy stamping!

Leslee, I bet you could do this with some saran wrap or even a plastic baggie!

I don't have any balloons, one of those things that you think you have from leftover kids parties, but I can't find any. I was going to try a food storage bag. Do you think that would work?

Anita,

I think it would work with a plastic baggie or some saran wrap. The trick is to tie it or close it tight around your mound of textured material. Hope this helps!

LOL! I can't claim it's an original idea. A stamping friend taught it to us at a workshop last spring!

Oh, you're welcome! And I hope you try it again with different textured materials -- it turns out different every time!

I don't think I did it right DeeDee but here you go! I sure had a fun time watching DH try to put the rice in the balloon though. I tried and couldn't get it all in and so he came up with the brilliant plan to blow into the funnel to try to get it all to go down. Well each time he would stop blowing and release, the rice would go flying up and onto his face and all over the floor. ROFL!!! It was hilarious! Rice Card

Sharon, I think it came out great! It's subtle, and goes well with your card. I would have given a lot to see your DH!! I hope you took a picture!

Leslie, as long as there are no chemicals, it would probably work!! Or you could try a sandwich bag or saran wrap. Good luck!

I didn't have a balloon so I used a rubber glove! I keep those thin ones in my stamp room for messy projects like Shaving Cream! Have to upload it then I'll be back!

Okay Deedee, wanna see what I can do with a fogged mirgraine head. I hope I understood the directions and did this right. I made a background scene and stamped right on the BG. I'd heard about this technique but this a first to try it, thanks for the challenge!
Your cards are cute!

Here's my card
