What got you into it?
I've been stamping for about a year and a half now (almost), and I got hooked when my then-boss hosted a party for us -- we got to make 10 cards each (2 each of 5 designs)... I started out by making cards with her children for people's birthdays and thought it was a lot of fun!! She let me use her stuff to make my Christmas cards, I only had to supply my own paper, which was really generous of her!!
ETA: Just noticed that there HAS been a post called this, so sorry to anyone this may bother!

Three months. 10 years ago, I went to a military coffee where the hostess, who was an SU demo, had us do some stamping. We made a notepad cover. It was fun and I liked how everything matched, but being frugal, I never persued it as a hobby. Now that my husband's next job will have so many occasions where stamping/card making will come in handy, I decided that it was actually financially beneficial for me to take up stamping. So I bought everything I thought that I might need and some things that I wanted all in one shot and have been stamping up a storm in preparation of his new postion. Hopefully, the new catty will not lead me to purchasing more so that this can remain a financially beneficial hobby!
I've been stamping since the early 1990's, so over 10 years ago. When I started, stamp stores were virtually non-existent where I lived, I'd never heard of SU and of course, the Internet was not the shopping mall that it is today. I still managed to amass hundreds of stamps (enough to fill three six drawer iris carts, each drawer being filled with two layers of stamps.) The choices now are amazing and the popularity of scrapping has really seemed to help with the availabilty of stamping supplies too since there is a lot of crossover.
I have been stamping for about 3 years now (a little over). I was actually a scrapbooker first, and my aunt and cousin hosted a SU! party. That was my downfall, I have been hooked ever since!!!! I actually booked a party immediately and it turned out to be a $700 dollar party!!!! If that's not addicting, I don't know what is!!!

I have been stamping for about 4 years. I was a little interested after I went to a few open house type things, and then I got really hooked during the SAB. I couldnt get enough and went off the deep end.

I started stamping about 2 years ago. My friend invited me to her party, and I mainly went out of obligation, never thinking that this would be something I wanted to do. I so enjoyed the workshop and the cute cards we made. I was totally overwhelmed by the catalog at first glance and what I would need to get started, but I did finally place my initial order. I've been passionately hooked ever since. This is the first of many hobbies that I've tried where my interest has not waned. I love coming home from a rough day at work and relaxing at my table and allowing the creativity to flow. My muscles relax and my mind just frees up from the stressors of the day. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the tubs and tubs of cards I have on hand! :-)
I don't really remember when I bought my first stamp set, but it was probably two years ago, maybe less. Then it sat for a while before I really started stamping. After I found SCS I was totally hooked - inspiration overload!!
I've been stamping since January. I ran into an old friend at her rummage sale last summer, & she's really into stamping & scrapping. I looked through the catalog at her rummage, & looked at some of her cards, & thought "those are cute, wish I were creative enough". She convinced me that with the help of the catalog, I, too, could make cards. She said she'd invite me to her next SU party. As it happened, that wasn't until January. She just became a SU demo so now she's having lots of Stamp Camps & Open Houses & stuff.
side note: Someone on one of the Ebay (my other "hobby") chat boards guided me towards this web site, when I said I was worried about coming up with different ideas. I joined in January, around the same time I started stamping. My life hasn't been the same since!!!!! LOL
I started scrapping 6 years ago and slowly got into stamping (mainly alphabet stamps). I didn't start *really* stamping until I signed on to be a SU! demo in Sept. 04.

I have been stamping since the mid 90's . I saw a handmade card when I was having my nails done. I mentioned it to my husband and he said he saw a coupon in the paper for a free class at the local stamp store. On our visit there, we ran into my BIL's brother and his wife. He told my husband to be prepared, it was an expensive hobby! My DH remembers that comment from time to time and says, boy was he right! But I love it and am thoroughly hooked now!

Scrapbooking--16 years with CM. Stamping--5 years with SU!, and probably a few years of piddling with it before that...nothing worth bragging about.
I went to a CM home show back when it was still Shoebox to Showcase. It was one of the first shows my demo did--we started at the same time, she decided to demo, I didn't.
My boss at the library where I worked invited me to an SU! party...and it was a "rapid downhill slide" from then on...I'm hooked! I love it!
1 year and 4 months ago. My daughter invited me to a Stampin Up party. I was less than thrilled, I didn't know anything about it. I bought 2 stamp sets and an ink pad and got the free set during sell-a-bration. I didn't want to have to color anything in, just stamp it and be done. Now I have about 10 times more stuff than my daughter and markers, colored pencils and at least 2 dozen ink pads! I also try every single technique that I see on SCS. She has a 2 year old and a newborn. Now she gives me her list to make cards for her!

I've been stamping for about 4 1/2 years, scrapbooking for about 3 1/2 to 4 years. One of my neighbors had a Stampin' Up! party and I was immediately hooked. I bought the supplies to make Christmas cards and shortly after that I got into scrapbooking. I've always like rubber stamps but never knew much about them (like all the things you can do with them). Now I am totally addicted!

Since 1999.. my friend had a housewarming party and another friend and I decided to buy a stamp and some 'cardstock' to make a card instead of buy a housewarming card... I thought it was *SO* cool when we stamped blue stars on white cardstock and stamped some stars off the edges... the rest is history!

I remember being invited to a Stampin' Up party at a friend's house about ten years ago, and I've been hooked on stamping ever since. Funny, I didn't have much $$ to spend back then (or couldn't justify spending it on "rubber stamps") ... HA HA!! ... and now I find myself wanting (and buying) LOTS of those older stamp sets from the 90's -- and a few of them for more than they sold for back then! Guess they hold their value (or so I tell my dh!!)

I went to a friend's SU party, didn't know anything about it, enjoyed it. Started making cards with my friend, went to more parties, bought a few sets, some individual stamps, supplies, etc... I guess the rest is history! But I think this is the longest I've stuck with one hobby (probably 5 yrs)!
I have been scrapping for about seven years. Most of the girls that I scrap with also stamp and tried to get me into it for about two years until I finally went to a workshop. I am so hooked now. I have been stamping for almost five years and a demo for a little over six months. LOVE IT!!!!!
I started scrapbooking in the summer of 1997, but I've really neglected my albums over the last couple of years. :( I find cardmaking to be quicker and easier than making layouts. I've been stamping since the fall of 2002.
A friend invited me to a SU! party back around '00, and I've been hooked ever since! Now my husband and I live in China, and my entire stamp collection has made the move with us. In China I don't have the option of running out to the store to buy greeting cards (the way we think of greeting cards), so I'm glad I have everything I need to make my own.

Moved to a new area 6.5 years ago. Another gal moved about 6 months after me to the same area. We met. She stamped. I then stamped. I became a SU demo 1 year later. The end

I can't remember when I first started stamping, it has been a while back, I remember when SU had smaller books about what 11 or 12 years ago.
I remember I bought a little stamp ( a flower) probably about 13 or 14 years ago at Micheals and some embossing powder (clear with sparkles) at a staionary shop next to the melting wax seals, then it was like a stick that you burned like a candle and and I had so much fun with that little stamp, that I was hooked from then, then somehow I found the new SU company and had a party and then I moved to Missouri and SU found me somehow and I have been having parties ever since, about 11 years ago.
I love everything about stamping, the card stock the inks the embleshments. who would have thought it has turned into what it has today.
Over 11 years. My neighbor invited me to a party and I loved it. Button Bear was my first set and I still love him. Then my DH became principal of a school and guess who was the PTA president.... my first demo! She came out to my house and did a party for me and now... well, you know.
BTW, she doesn't even stamp any more. She went to work full time and decided to give it up. Funny, she used to go to convention, wear the little SU apron, recite the SU motto, etc but now I'm the addict and she doesn't stamp.
I got hooked into stamping with Joan "SheStampsHeCamps" about 8 years ago when we our kids were in first grade. We went to a CTMH party and got hooked and then went to a SU party, it has been wild ever since. I did branch off 5 years ago into scrapbooking. I love both. Am addicted to scrapbooking more than stamping but hoping that joining SCS will get me to do more cards.
I started stamping right after we got married, 19 years ago. We went to a craft show and there was a booth with Rubber Stamps and it was love at first sight! I didn't find out about Stampin' Up! until 1998. I use to have to order all my stamping supplies from catalogs. RubberStamp Madness was my favorite magazine. I've been scrapping for 10 years.

I started about a year and a half ago when my daughter, who had been stamping for a couple years, asked if I wanted to make Christmas cards. 18 months and a lot of $$$ later, this hobby has taken over - I'm totally running out of room for storage. I enjoy this hobby very much and wish I had discovered it sooner, but then I'd probably have to move to a much bigger house.
I started just over a year ago! Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks!
I must have stock in SU by now!!
There is never an end to the *need more* of stamping! At alomost 60, I have no vision of *enough*! Is there light at the end of the tunnel? No it's a SU Demo! Just think, I've never even been to a SU party and I'm 87 sets down in one year on SU alone, haven't counted all the others yet!
