Somebody posted this the other day but I thought it deserved another post. I went down to Office Depot looking for this special and it's a "scrapbooking kit" special. It has a xyron 505 (which is really a 510, just labeled different for Office Depot), 2 trial cartridges of permanent adhesive and 2-sided laminating, a 6x6 scrapbook with 10 page protectors, a pack of decorative paper and 2 sets of stickers. Pretty good deal for 29.99!!! Oh, almost forgot, there was also a pack of brads and a pack of tags!
On my way home I used my 40% sticker at Michaels to get a refill cartridge that has laminate/magnet and it fits just fine! Woo hoo!
Oh yes, everyone needs a xyron or two. I have 4 different sizes, and use them all.. Dont know what I would do without them. What a great buy! I think a couple years ago, my 510 alone, was like around $50!!
Betsy, Are you sure the 510 cartridges fit the 505?! I thought I read elsewhere on here that they weren't interchangeable!? I appreciate you re-posting this tip and am heading down to try to snap one of these up! I bet my Office Depot doesn't even have them, though! It is a rather small one and has a small scrapbooking section, almost non-existent! THANK YOU AGAIN!
I've been looking for this item at Office Depot since the original post (we have three within range of my shopping area) and I haven't found even a whisper of the Xyron in any of them. One store, however, was clearing out laminate refills for a Brother item.

Would you please post the "SKU" number for the scrapbooking kit at Office Depot? The SKU (different from the UPC) will let us search for it locally.
Thank you!

I have the machine in my car (I'm at work  ) so when I get home I will check my box and post anything else that is on the box that I find. Not sure if I have helped you or not, I'm not sure that is the sku number but that is the code on my receipt.

The 505 is just the non-comp model Xyron sells to store for promos and such. The 510 and the 505 are the same, the 500 is not.
If you look in my gallery, you will see 2 blue Xyrons above my stamps. Both are 505s I got at Walmart when they cleared them out. I use the 510 cartirdges purchased at Joanns/Michaels.

I just called my Office Depot and they said they didn't have any Xyron machines, but when I gave them the number, they said they did have them... bummer, they're still $29.95!
OH JOY, I found one at Office Depot for $7.94!!!! It was marked down to $15.88, then they took off half of that! They also had smaller fiskars trimmers for $4.96, if anyone needs one of those? I got one for my daughter, who is always borrowing mine! This helps a lot as I just lost $28.99 on an ebay purchase that didn't arrive (package wasn't taped well and it was empty! ) Because I didn't buy insurance, the seller is refusing to compensate me in any form, so this helps me a lot! At least I have a xyron now! Good luck to all the rest of you, I wish they had a bunch so I could buy them and send them to you!

You may have not bought insurance, but the seller has an obligation to properly package the tiem. If the box was reused, the integrety could be compromised so it should have been taped with more than one piece of tape.
She may not refund you, but the least she should do is fill out a Report of Missing/Rifled mail. Then the "nixie" sections that your item should have passed through will look for the loose article. You would think it is the least she would do if the packaging was faulty. I would check eBay help for that requirement.
Just curious, what do you use your Xyrons for? Do you use them personaly or do you use them with SU products at stamp camps etc?
Thanks for any tips!
I bought mine last spring mainly for scrapbooking, but have also used it for card making. I have 3 sizes - the 510, a 2.5" kids one and the smallest one. I can't remember the model # of the smallest one, but it's the one that's an orange X and the kids one came with a kit I bought @ Joann.com.
The smaller ones are great for small shapes & die cuts. Getting adhesive on these things can be tough no matter how small the tape runner. I don't use glue sticks or glue pens, because I ALWAYS get it everywhere and end up with dirty glue around the edges of whatever I'm applying it to! My 5 year old does better than I do with glue!
I use the 2.5" kids model for all types of things. It's not just for kids - it just came with repositionble adhesive instead of permanent. I use this a lot for kids crafts. Ever try gluing any type of foam shape? (me with the glue issues again) I have a 5 year old and a soon to be 3 year old. I run foam shapes for craft projects through the Xyron and the kids can just peel & stick! The kids love it and they can rearrange their creations.
I love all 3 of mine. For those of you in AZ - Xyron is right in Scottsdale and their customer service is wonderful. My kids kit was missing an item, so they sent me a whole new kit free. Now I have 2 kids ones!
I'd like to look online before I travel to my local Office Depot but I can't even find an Xyron on the website ??????????
Sunshine
When I posted this right before Christmas, I tried to pull it up on line to share. It was not available through the website. It may have been a one time buy for the stores.
I am not surprisrd they are going on clearance in some places. I almost didn't see them. In my closest store, they have them endcapped with the copy paper instead of anywhere near the SB stuff.
You all are the best!!! I love this site for so many reasons and now I can add (505) more reasons. Yippee, I called a couple of Office Depots and found one, I too am at work. When MaryD said she found one in the St. Louis area, I figured I was doomed, but I am not, I found one. 14.58 not as good as 10 but I am okay with that.
Keep stamping and keep helping each other out. I love this site!!!

Ohhh, this is good to know! I have one of the small ones & it came apart! I swear I didn't throw it! LOL
Thanks for the info!

ACK! We have NO Office Depot's in the Phoenix area! I would think they'd be on almost every corner. I guess Office Max has them beat here.
Oh well, and I was so excited to get one! WAH! LOL

I wish I could find it for 10.00 I can't believe someone found one for under 8.00. On xeron's site they list for 49.99. We don't have any office depots around here. And I don't think I would be able to get anywhere to look. I'm sure at that price, they aren't lasting long. I guess my husband would be glad of that.
(And I thought I was getting a great deal when I found a 250 on clearance for 6.00)
Keep watching the store or call them everyday! The store I got mine at yesterday was the same way, the day before I was in there (I go there a LOT for work) it too was $29.99
keep trying, us SCS folks will drive the price to $10.00 somehow!!!! lol
Thanks for posting tips on what to do with the Xyrons! Besides, adhesive, can you laminate and use magnet sheets with them? Can you do more than one at a time, for example, laminate the top and put adhesive on the back?
I'm talking myself into needing one! thanks for all the grat info!
I just got back from my Office Depot, here in Austin, TX. After spending 30 minutes looking around with a salesman, we found them right by the front door!!! Geez. Anyway, still at $29.99 and my store had 8 of them (well, 7 now). I just told them that 'a friend' had bought one at an Office Depot out-of-state for $10. He said each OD has separate sales but he could call his manager and see. So, he did. They sold it to me for $21.99. Not bad, I think.
Thanks everyone for the tip. And ASK FOR A DISCOUNT

Wow. This product was hard to find in the stores. And it is still 29.99 around here. After an embarressing amount of time  on the phone and driving around I actually found 8 in each of two stores--and I think this is the original quantity received by them, based on the display.
I opened up one of the boxes to get a closer look. IMHO, the scrapbook, paper and stickers were not of much value, but I'm interested in the Xyron--and the packaging indicated it could be used with cartridges to apply temporary or permanent adhesive, or laminate (no indication of applying magnets). The kit includes a trial length cartridge of the latter two.

It will take the laminate/magnet cartridge...first thing I did after buying the 505 was stop at Michael's and pick up the lam/mag cartridge. Works like a champ!
I did stop at my office depot today and asked what was up with the $10 clearance price that our store DOESN"T have. He said that locally stores can do what they want, BUT that would likely stop because Xyron is BUYING BACK all of them. Sounds like if you want the deal, even 29.99 is a great price, you'd better act soon...
I just bought some bigger stuff from Viking and was really surprised when the deliverer said he was delivering locally from Office Depot. He said, "Viking, Office Depot, same thing." So check out Viking too on the Xyron maybe.
Wow! I called two Office Depots by me and both said they had 9-10 in stock and they were 29.99. However, one lady said that the computer always lists the full price so you had to check the shelves to see for sure and that they were too busy. So I hauled my 2 kids and went down there. No one had any idea where it was! I finally found it after looking for at least 20 minutes. It was not by the scrapbooking or laminating items that they suggested. It was hidden on an endcap by the calculators! Anyway, they were still 29.99 of course. But I took it up front to ask for some discount since TexasLongHorn got them to do that for her. I told them that I had a friend who found one for $10 in Florida and another friend who found one for $7.84 in Wenatchee, WA (I'm near Seattle, WA). The checker said they could price match and gave it to me for $7.84!!! Wooohooo!!! I didn't want to push my luck and try to buy 10 at that price, otherwise I would have and then sent them to all of you!
