Ok, my 15 year old cousin Nathian is at Texas Children's right now after suffering a heart attack. He is awaiting a heart transplant. He had his first transplant at about a year old. The heart was good for 11 years. He had his second transplant 3 years ago and although the heart came from an 18 year old, it has worn out. 5 months ago they started seeing some problems. Recently the problems got worse and he had a heart attack. Thank God that his family was already staying at the local Ronald McDonald house and he was in town for testing. The live 5.5 hours away. His mom has been so patient and so wonderful thru all this. His older brother is taking the year off school to stay here with his mother. This part of our family has been thru so much and have been so good about it. I went to visit him and was so upset. He was so worn out. Normally when you visit him you see this kid that has green hair and is upbeat and cheerful. He was so worn out he couldn't even talk. All he could do was nod his head. His heart is leaking blood and they have to keep draining off the blood and fluid. I don't understand why they can't just find the leak and sew it up. Anyway, I would like to ask for a RAK on his behalf. I don't know the address to the Ronald McDonald house or even if they can get mail there. This just occurred to me to ask at 12:20 am. If you would like to please send cards to my address which I can PM you. His name is Nathian Gomez and his mother is Lourdes Gomez. I would love for his family to be flooded with cards. You can just sign the cards Lisa's Splitcoast friend. When they come in, I can explain.
If you are the praying sort, please add him and his family to your prayer list. That is all that has kept this family going.

Dear Father,
This family and this young man have been through so much and you have been there every step of the way. We praise you and thank you for that, Lord. We come before you to ask, again for a healing touch. We also ask that your presence would be illuminated so this family would know, without a doubt, that you have your arms wrapped around them. Please fill them with a peace that goes beyond all understanding. We thank you Lord, for being our ever present source of strength, peace, and hope.

What the heck...under normal circumstances I would not post my address on such a public place but you ladies are out of this world!! I accidentally deleted all on my PM's. Did that last night too. My brain is on the fritz. His mother's name is Lourdes. His brother's name is Christian but he goes by Chris.
Nathian likes video games, gameboy, computers. He is very computer savy. I don't know that this helps much for card making purposes. He always does his hair really weird colors and the people, especially the little kids at RMcD house adore him.
They have a website for him that you can go to and leave messages. Periodically the nurses or his mother go and print them off and they are posted on the window in his room. I had the cable guy installing road runner in my crop room and they had to drop a new line. He put all my stacks of kids momentos on my crop table and I can not find the information for the life of me. I don't work well in chaos. I will keep you ladies updated. I am going to call his mom this evening. She can't have a cell phone on in the hospital and they don't have a phone in Nathian's room. Doctor's orders I think.
Thank you guys so very much. You are such a blessing. I hope and pray that I can drag a trash bag full of cards in, like Santa! One thing that was pretty cool is we had snow for the first time in Texas on Christmas. And by our standards it was a lot. He got to see it falling out the window and we all took lots of pictures to show him.

A short lesson I learned today. If you accidentally delete all, press back on your browser. You can not recover nor access the deleted items but you can do a print screen so you can see who sent you a message. So if I did not PM you back it is because my brain is on the fritz and I am going to ring my DD's neck if she doesn't give me 5 more minutes to finish this. Ok now that I have rattled on, again, thank "Y'all" very much!

Hi Lisa - I'll be praying for your family, and hope that a healthy heart for Nathian is found soon, and that he can gain his good health again.
Is there a way we can send cards directly to him at the hospital? Do you have his room number and the address of the hospital? It would be great if he was able to get cards coming in to him from all over the country!

You guys are so awesome. I am sure he would love it! I wasn't able to get ahold of his mother today. I am going to call his brother's cell phone tomorrow and maybe steal him away from the hospital. The poor kid probably could use a break. What do you do with a 17 year old on New Years? We usually go to the watch night service at church. We have a small church so it isn't like there are a lot of pretty girls to keep his interest.

I logged onto his care page and figured I should update you guys. Bear in mind this side of our family is more immersed in our culture and thus has less accurate English. The live in Laredo, which being a boarder town allows for more Spanish then English. Thanks for your continued prayers.

Hello again to you all. Well we are finally in our last day of this year. Things are looking stable for Nathian. We had a meeting yesterday the doctors and us. They decided to put him on the list for transplant by next week. He will need a heart and kidney transplant.
We will keep you informing you all on his status. For the time being, we want to wish you a very, very Happy New Years and that this coming year will come loaded with great health, strenght, wisdom but most of all the spirit within us to be blessed for ever.
Please family and friends keep on praying for us. Thanks you all for all the messages. They are so wonderful and as soon as Nathian is feeling better he will personally read them and answer them.

Feliz Ano Nuevo para todas las personas queridas que se han interesado en la salud de Nathian. Nathian esta estable por el momento. Lo pondremos en la lista de transplantes para la semana que viene. Tendran que hacerle transplante de corazon y rinon. Por el momento se mantiene con su dialisis y su aparato que le ayuda al corazon para esperar su transplante.
Les queremos desear desde aqui un Feliz Ano Nuevo a todos Uds. con mucho carino y amor. Y esperamos que apenas Nathian se sienta mejor el pueda leer y responder cada uno de sus lindos mensajes.

Well, today was a great and a long day for Nath. He is sitting twice a day, each time he is getting stronger and stronger. He asked for his computer and for the first time he saw this page. He got to read several messages. Eventually he will answere them. For the time being, he cant write cuase he has an art-line in his right hand, which unfortunally today they had to re-do-it again. But like always he was so brave and with luck they got another one. Tomorrow they might get both of his drangae tubes out. We need to continue praying so it will happen and for him not to feel sick again. God has been on our side and we need to thank him every second as we see him recovering slowly. WEll for now, those are the news. I will keep you informing as time goes by. Again Happy New Years to all of you and thanks a millions for your prayers.
Hola a todos nuevamente. Hoy Nathian tuvo un dia largo y bueno. Ya se ha estado logrando sentar y sobre todo empieza a comer poco a poco. Se puede ver que sus fuerzan ya estan fortaleciendo su cuerpo.
Hoy por primera vez me pidio que le llevara su computadora y vio esta pagina, estuvo leyendo varios mensajes y se que a su tiempo de el los ira contestando. Desafortunadamente aun no puede escribir ya que tiene en su mano derecha una linea arterial la cual hoy la perdio pero despues de unas horas le volvieron a poner otra y todo sigue bien. Manana si Diso quiere, le podran quitar ya dos tubos de drenaje que tiene, los ultimos tubos. Asi es se ira restableciendo y podra sentirse mejor para esperar su transplante. Bueno familia y amistades, les seguire informando como vaya pasando el tiempo. Dios les bendiga y hay que seruir rezando para que siga Dios a nuestro lado ya que hasta la fecha nos lo ha demostrado. Hasta Pronto....

Hello agian to you all. Well Nathian is doing better thank God. Today there got out the last two dranage tubes. They also moved his central line from his neck to his upper right chest just below his shoulder. He did great while the procedure was on. Another good thing is that he dosent have for now anymore 24 hrs. his dialysis.
Now he is only on a daily schedule but for only 3 hours. They made some more test of his kidneys, so depending on the results he will be hopeing by Friday on the list. And well they took his art-line, too. Now both of his hands are free getting ready for school.....
Tomorrow i will take some new pictures and i will post them. As time goes by, he will feel better and will try to reply to you all. For the time being, i want agian to asked you all to keep on praying for the new transplant to take a succesful place within him, but of course always guided by God. Thanks you for all your prayers God sure is hearing them. May God Bless you all and till next time.
Hola a todos nuevamente. Nathian esta poco a poco progresando muy satisfactoriamente. Hoy tuvo un dia medio pesado pero con muchos buenos cambios. Sacaron los dos ultimos tubos de drenaje. Tambien le tuvieron que mover su linea central del cuello hacia de bajo del hombro derecho. Esto es para que dure mas tiempo la dialisis la cual tambien ya se la quitaron de 24 hrs. a solo 3 horas por dia. Igualmente hicieron mas examenes del rinon y segun los resultado que nos den esperamos que para el Viernes ya este en la lista de transplantes. El tiene mucho mejor semblante y empeiza hablar un poco mas. Sigue sentandoce 2 horas por la manana/noche. Tambien le han dejado las dos manos libres, quitaron la linea arteria que tenia en su mano derecha.....preparandolo ya para la escuela..... Manana tomare mas fotos y las pondre en su album de esta pagina. Quiero nuevamente aprovechar para agradecer todas sus oraciones y pedirles que hay que seguir rezando para que llege su transplante y sea un exito, logicamente guido por nuestro Dios.

Another thing that is cool about this is our local RMcD house didn't have a program set up with SU. Since Nathian's mom is staying there I went out to the house and am now communicating with the head lady there. YEAH.

My heart goes out to your nephew and your whole family. Last year this time we were waiting on oncology reports from my dear nephew who had/has a brain tumor. He is doing better this year and improving and we don't think he has cancer at least. I know how upsetting and stressful this can be for the whole family and I wish Nathian much better health in 2005! I am sending you a card for him today! My prayers are with you all.

I am so glad to hear that he is feeling better. I sent out a card yesterday, and will probably send out another. Nathian has been in my prayers each night since I read this post. I will continue to pray for his health and good spirits. As well as those of his family.

Hello to you all agian, Well, Nathian is on the list as Thursday nite. The transplant now can happen at any time from now on and it will be up to GOd and of course a donor and the wisdom of the doctors, nurses, technology, medicines and our creator to make possible our dream to see Nathian one day as a great doctor that he wants to be.
Now we need to pray for a donor to appear and for his successfull transplant soon. God Bless You all and have a great day !!!!!
Hola nuevamente a todos. Quiero avisarles que Nathian ya esta en la lista de transpalntes a partir del Jueves en la noche. El transplante puede ocurrir a partir de ahora a cualqueir minuto.
Les pido sigamos rezando para que con la ayuda de nuestro creador Dios, un donante, la tecnologia de hoy, la sabiduria de los medicos, enfermeros y medicinas, se realize el exito de su transplante y podamos verlo como un gran medico que es lo que el desea ser en el futuro.
