Default understanding Stamptember

I basically started stamping a year ago and really never understood what to do with Simon Says Stamp Stamptember. From last year I remember that bloggers had different 'rewards' if you went to their blog. What I don't understand is that if you want to buy several items do you go to different people's blogs and order one item from each of them but then wouldn't you have a lot of different shipping charges? I find that it's a lot of people's blogs to go through. How do other people handle this event? I found it mind-boggling last year and want to understand it this year. Thanks for any insight!

I find usually the blogs offers are for product or GCs if you leave a comment.
If you want to consolidate your shipping you can probably get it all at Simon Says or go to the mfg sites directly who may have free ships or discounts. (SSS does not do free ship-she has a flat rate)

And from personal experience, yes some of the SSS launch may only be here for Sept...some will continue. But you never know which is which so if you really want it, it is best to get it now.

Yes, you would have a lot of different shipping charges if you ordered from different sellers.  I guess you'd have to figure out whether or not the rewards compensated for the shipping charges.  Some of the prices on those kit products are crazy.  (50-55 dollars for a stamp set + matching dies!)  The stamp sets and dies are very expensive; plus there is the shipping.  It might be cheaper in the long run to take advantage of those rewards.

It is true...one of the stamp sets I am interested in is 25 for a large clear set. :(

I may roll the dice and hope it will be around after Sept. and wait for sales. Since it is a SSS product I have to wait for them. Other mfgs you could get it either with them or other gen suppliers like 1-2-3 stitch or EH etc.

I wish SSS and everyone would be very clear about what is ONLY for Sept and while supplies last.

I hope it's the Simon Says Stamptember the the OP was asking about.  I thought it was & that is why I posted the info.  Here is an update from their blog: https://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/

If you follow the blog, you'll get updates as new product is introduced.

It seems like most of the SSS product will be around for a while, but the collaborations with other brands, like Gina K or PinkFresh, are limited supply only. The Studio Katia one sold out after a few days. It is frustrating that the new stamp sets aren’t all introduced at the same time so you can consolidate the shipping charges.

I got 2 emails today for the Gina K. collaboration, and when I clicked on the link to check it out, it was already sold out.  That's OK, though, since it was $50, and I wouldn't have bought it anyway.  Outrageous!

The collaborations are limited edition and only available until they are sold out.  They are introducing them one day at a time at midnight EDT.  The SSS brand items new for this month will probably be restocked if sold out, but I don't think that is guaranteed.  I also wish you could see what the limited ones are so I could tell where and when I want to spend my limited budget.  Also if I need to stay up to midnight, since I can't do that every night.  Good luck getting what you want.

Just a note, the stamp set for today was $25, the stamps & dies together were $50, which is basically what Stampin Up charges.

I was talking about the collaborations Vic. Sorry. ***Sometimes*** they last longer. Esp if they are hot. I mean it would be kind of silly for a mfg NOT to continue with something doing well, esp these days. I would never agree to do that. I might give the exclusive sale to SSS for Sept but after that, it's mine to sell too.

I agree about just give it all to us at one time so we can save on the shipping and decide where to spend our limited dollars.

On the other hand, if people have the time...and can blog hop, you get entered for prizes like GCs which might cover your wishlist-once you decide what's on it with the staggered releases! Oy! LOL

It is just a barrage of emails all month.

This weekend will ramp up bc of Labor Day.

Stamptember originated with Simon Says Stamp (I’m pretty sure). As you know, they are an online shop. They carry supplies from many companies as well as have their own house brand.
It begins with Simon Says Stamp releasing their Stamptember kit on the 1st. This first release is under their own brand. But some of the stamp sets or stencils may have been designed by some of the crafty blog people you follow. These people usually design for SSS all year long.

Then, randomly, throughout the month some featured crafty blog people will have a special set released in collaboration with SSS. This special set may only be available in September or until it sells out. SSS does not announce ahead of time what day these special collaborations will be released. You have to check their site daily, or the blog of your favorite designer ( for example, Tim Holtz) to catch the release day.

When you read a blog and see mention of the first release for the month, or they mention that they have a special collaboration set released “today”...you generally do not order directly from these blogs. These folks are crafters/designers and most do not retail their own designs. The blogger might provide a LINK to click which will probably send you to SSS for purchase. If you click the link from the blog that person probably gets a percentage of that sale, at no extra cost to you.

This is a way the most popular bloggers earn money. You don’t have to click the link to buy. You can simply go to Simon Says Stamp directly to purchase whatever products your blogger was discussing that you wanted. But it is a nice way to support your favorite blogger/crafter/designers.

Hope this helps!!

Every day in September has a new set.  This page (scroll down & work up for each day) lists the collaborator.  FYI - Tim Holtz is the last one.

I don't think a collaboration set is available each day in September; there are only 25 companies listed in the 43 blocks shown. So you can never be sure exactly when a specific company's product will be available. So far, the ones that have been listed twice have had stamps and the stamps bundled with dies.

There's also a special Limited Edition Stamptember Card Kit from Simon.   Last year's was really cute, and went super fast, like within hours.   This is in addition to their regular monthly card kit.  Here's a link to Prairier Paper & Ink doing an unboxing of that kit.

It would be nice if SSS offered free shipping for the month of September. With the introduction of new stamp set collaborations (almost) every day, there is no telling what someone will want, and since those particular stamp sets are only available while supplies last, trying to purchase something you want when it is released incurs a LOT of shipping charges. For example, if you purchase just one stamp set that costs $15.99, shipping is $6.99 (if spending under $75; if spending over $75, shipping is $7.99). I love SSS, but I stay away from the Stamptember thing.

Between the shipping and the high-priced stamps and dies, I'm not even going near SSS this month.  I don't like when companies create a frenzy, playing on consumers' FOMO, either.  I've been very happy with SSS lately, but the way they're handling Stamptember is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.  JMHO

That's my biggest issue with the whole Stamptember thing.  If I REALLY love a stamp set, I'll shell out extra $$ for it.  But by the time you've added 2 or more shipping charges, you've just thrown away enough $$ to buy another set or the matching dies. If orders could be consolidated or had a free shipping threshold, I'd do more buying! I've only ordered during Stamptember twice since it started several years ago, though.

Today’s release is a stamp set and dies for $55 which I think is outrageous. The stamps are floral and remind me very much of the poppies from a Hero Arts stamp from a few years back. Nothing original.

I feel about Stamptember the same as I do about Christmas commercialism - all about marketing and $$. I wish the marketing machine would stay out of things that used to be simple and heartwarming and turning them into "you need this now" nonsense...

So far all I've see is cutesy stamp sets. Cutesy is not my style and I don't need another floral stamp.
