Hi Wendy,
I am a demo from southern Ontario who started with SU after being to a couple of workshops and being hooked on the products. I had never stamped before in my life, but soon became familiar with many of the techniques, etc.
To answer your questions:
Basic comission is 20% of sales totals, but higher amounts can be achieved with higher sales. There are also product bonuses and a trip that can be earned... the standard direct-sell perks. (No pink car like Mary Kay though  ) Also, there are the home-based business tax exemptions, but they vary from province to province, so she would have to check that out.
Sales minumums are quite low compared to most direct-sell companies. It is $450 for every quarter. And each demo has the option of being a hobby demo, which means they may choose to work primarily out of their home and not to workshops in other peoples' homes. As long as their min. sales are achieved, they will remain active.
Once you sign the paperwork and purchase your demonstrator kit, you are a demo! January is a terrific time to become a demo because there is a special promo going on with extra free stamp sets. As well, it is easy to get bookings, thanks to the sellabration special.
Hope this gives you the info you need. Feel free to e-mail or PM me if you need any other info.
Let us know what she decides.
