Glossy paper is suggested but you can use watercolor paper as Beate states in the video or I used Mixed Media paper. I tried a smooth watercolor paper which did not work so well. I guess it did not have enough tooth. Cold w/c paper with more texture would probably have been better.
Also, I used coarse Kosher salt but you can use Sea Salt or table salt.
A coarse salt, of course, creates larger splotches.
I look forward to seeing your creations. Have fun!

Is this something that works better in the winter?
I tried it after work, used glossy cardstock and reinkers and water, and I am thinking the cardstock was mostly dry before I could get the salt on after I moved the color around with the brush. ( so, I have a few salt patterns but, you can not see it unless you tilt the paper)
Keep in mind humidity at my house is currently like hmmm 14%ish? (maybe)
Here is my card, but you won't see any salt marks. You don't know where to look. Only then would you be able to see the faint light spot that it created in one or two places.
Stacy, I think if your paper was mostly dry before you got the salt on, that was part of your problem. Mist your paper, then apply your ink. The tutorial also said to mist after putting the salt on your card. Give it another try if you didn't like your first one. I did!!!

I did I got that paper very wet but, because I had the ink explosion from the second reinker bottle I had to you know frantically grab paper towels trying to blot things off me, and the baby wipes box which I then proceeded to brace up against my stomach ( after I picked it up with inky fingers) so, I dropped some salt on, misted it with water and then headed to the laundry to get that shirt cleaning ( saved my shirt so I am happy as it was a really comfortable one)
and now that you have had your friday AM chuckle I will let you know how it goes later, gotta get ready for work
Yep, Stacy, explosions are always a bad thing. So sorry that happened.

Stacy - glad you saved your shirt. I certainly didn't save my hands. Been going round all day with a yellow finger on left hand and a blue nail on right! That is despite endless hand washing! My card

Finally jumping into these fabulous wc challenges. I did two cards, one with glossy paper and one with watercolor paper just to see the difference. I think it went a little better on glossy paper. See what you think.
Thanks to the team for this challenge - it is such a great challenge, and I am learning a lot each week! I really look forward to it!
