So, have you all seen that "new and improved" version of blogger that is coming at the end of this month? ( I have tried it a few times) and every single time it does not give me a create a new post button.
and when I go down the rabbit hole of searching for why it tells me I have to be signed into blogger to get that button.
( you have to be signed in to see the dashboard) So?
has this happened to anyone else and how did you fix it?
thanks in advance,
I really hated it and switched back to classic. I am hoping I interpreted their statement right - that the 'new' blogger will be the default but that we can opt back to the other.
I just tried it again for the heck of it, no new post button but, it does say you can go back to legacy blogging, and that has a deadline of the end of July. after the end of July no one can go back again.
the question will be if you do choose to go back if they default you anyways to the new and improved after the deadline.

I've been using it for a while and love it. The post button was hard to find - it's an orange circle with a + sign in it lower right.
I've been using it for a week and it keeps going back to the old and new, just flip flopping to both without me doing anything. I just keep clicking buttons till I figure it out. lol
Ditto to what Lydia said. It's not easy to find, totally counterintuitive. I spent AGES looking for the add a new post.
See attachment, it's obvious when you know but not till then.
I do like it, and normally I prefer to stick with what I know. The only thing I'm not sure it lets you have is when you can just open one picture and then tab from one to the next one. Lightbox? But the setting for that was always buried somewhere and I can't even tell you whether I had it going in the previous version.
Some options appear easier to use. Since I never anticipate posting from my mobile I wasn't even sure whether to try it, but am happy that I did.
Hello, Ladies! I too went back and forth between the old and the new, until I read the notice that by the end of (sometime soon, can't remember) the old version will be gone and everyone will be using the new version. So, I switched. It did take a while to figure out a few things. The + sign on the bottom right to ADD (duh) a new post. Resizing my image when uploaded also took me a while to figure out. Now, I'm struggling with linking up my store front page to a command (Shop Now) in the post. I clicked the link symbol and added the URL to it, but when it went live today, I tried it and it takes me to a generic SU store front. My button as a page works fine though. Do you think they are still working out the kinks? or am I missing something? Suggestions? I think there was a code someone could add, but i can't remember it.
Ok, I was hoping that we could still stick with the old version but I clicked through and found this.... sigh.... "Starting in late June, many Blogger creators will see the new interface become their default, though they can revert to the old interface by clicking “Revert to legacy Blogger” in the left-hand navigation. By late July, creators will no longer be able to revert to the legacy Blogger interface."
Yes, Dina that was the notice that I received too. So, basically, they are not giving us a choice. I, personally, do not mind change, but show how to use the changes.

The one thing I can't figure out is how to get back to edit from Preview - have you hacked this? It seems like my only option from Preview is publish, and it no longer opens in a new tab
Click the preview button again, and it will take you back to continue to edit. Once you're done, you can click save and just click the back arrow if you are not ready to publish.

That's what I discovered, too.
But, LOL - are you not getting used to NOT editing with all the issues here .
BTW: I fixed my link problem I had. I just went back to my post and re-entered the link. I hit save and published. Tried it and it worked. I have no idea what happened the first time because I use the copy and paste so I don't make mistakes. They also give you the option to try the link before okaying it. It worked before, and then not, and then yes. I'll have to try it again today and make sure it is still correct...Am I making sense? I am in my head...
On my old version- and it's still there on the new one- when I visit my blog, right along the top I have a bar with ( from the right going to left) Sign Out, Design, New Post, then my email addy. I've always clicked that New Post to write one, never seen another way of doing it?

If you click on design you are taken to your "back office" where you have control to do many things. I then click on post from the left hand menu. That is the screen where i write my post, keep them as drafts, schedule them to be posted etc.
Shaz, are you looking at the dashboard page of posts? (that is where I go when I make new pages on a pc) and it used to have ( on the old version) a button that really said create new post or just new post on it was to the slight upper left over the list of blog posts on the screen.
Hi Stacy, , I do know about the dashboard and everything, I've just never gone there to write a new post, lol. This is what I always have used, button on top right of main blog page.
I think the orange floating ( hovering ) dot is only showing up on the dashboard page of posts listings. ( I have never tried to make a post like that or from my cell phone either)
mostly because, I do tinker with cell phone shots in my computer as this room is a cave and I lighten a lot of things.
I hate change too but knew it was inevitable that I would be forced to do that so I switched over a few days ago. Once you learn the new icons, it becomes much easier. Angela Westland has some videos on You Tube about the new Blogger...she was a big help with that obscure orange button for a new post! I haven't caught on to her instructions for pinning a photo. I'm trying a work around. I'll know tomorrow if I was successful.
Mine switched all on its own - apparently my opinion didn't matter! But what I really hate is that very often I click to Publish the post, I get that little pop up confirming the date and time the post will publish, and yet on the dashboard is shows as "Draft" rather than "Scheduled." It happens to me all the time. So annoying. Also I don't like that when you are composing your post it doesn't tell you in the upper left what blog you are composing for. I have several blogs that I contribute to so I always double-checked with a quick glance that I was writing for the blog I meant to be writing to before I published my post. I've sent feedback to the Blogger folks so I hope they are paying attention!

I have been using the new Blogger for a few weeks or so now, & don't mind the changes too much. I finally figured out the add post button--I agree, not intuitive! The one thing I can't figure out is, when I write a post & click the publish button in the post sidebar, I get a popup box that says it will publish the post, with OK & cancel buttons. So I click OK. But, when I go back to the list of posts on the dashboard, it shows that post as a draft!!! So I have to click the publish button on the post in THAT list to get it to publish! Is this a Blogger bug, or am I missing something??? :P

Are you hitting the paper airplane top right? That publishes it immediately.

If you start your post at blogger.com, you will always see the blog you're composing for top left.

Nope. I always post at blogger.com and the top left is empty. I've got an arrow pointing left, the blogger icon, and the word "Blogger." The name of the blog I'm composing for is not there.

Same for me. I get Draft all the time.

yep, me to if I hit publish I have to hit the airplane on the dashboard list for it to really publish. will go look and see if the blog name shows up ( I do have two but, I am trying to remember how I seen which was which now) ( its early here first cuppa joe )
Okay for me to see the which blog it is, there is a bar to the left side on the dash board besides the list of blog posts. the ones that let you edit your blog etc. the blog name is above that below all the things that happen in top row to the left of "blogger" is a thing that says main menu if you click on it ( looks like a block of three lines stacked) click that the bar to the left shows up or not, if you click it, it hides if you click it again it comes back that is where it posts the blog name on a PC version of the dashboard.

I actually mean that I can't see which blog I'm posting to when I'm actually composing the post. Once you hit the orange plus sign and are taken to the editor the name of the blog you are composing for no longer appears in the upper left corner of the screen like it used to.

okay you are right, same for me. so I guess the only way would be to triple check while you are still on the dash board before you started a new post and maybe the fact that it has to be clicked twice for publish is a good thing in case its made on the wrong blog?
You're right in that sense. But once in a while I hit Publish and it does Publish. It's not consistent. It's buggy for sure and I hope the Blogger folks figure it all out

I can't believe they would make these multiple changes without better explanation and/or videos! I'd like to switch to a different blogger as I have seen many do. But........
Okay they fixed the preview thing a week or two ago - it opens in a new window again, but now they hid the code / compose button top left instead of top right FYI.
I've been using the new blogger interface since the first of August - it automatically switched me. For the most part, I am figuring things out pretty well, though it is a learning curve.
One thing that is frustrating to me and I can't figure it out - often times it will not let me center photos. I click the place to center it but nothing happens.
Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong and help me correct it?
Jeanette ~ The same thing happens to me if I try to use the centering button on the screen when I insert and enlarge the pic. But, if I go to the bar at the top and click on the alignment button it always works.
I think that they are still tinkering with it, I now have a "new post" button to the top left of all the other things you can do on the dash board and the floating round orange plus symbol button has gone poof. for me, it is shoving the photos to the left margin if I size the photo down because, I used to have to enlarge mine and right now it is is putting them in so big it is out of the center post section and having the photos overlap the side bars if I do not shrink them but, centering the shrunk version is not working for me. I think those formatting buttons are for the text only they do not seem to have any effect on the photos.
