I am one of the 300+ volunteers at HAWS. Our volunteer coordinator, Katie, oversees the entire volunteer crew as well as the responsibility for obtaining/sending their greeting cards. Since the facility staff does not have the resources available to intake/count/sort the cards, I am going to do this for them.
Thank you so much for your consideration – HAWS is a terrific organization and I am so excited to represent them as the donation recipient this month!
For a little added inspiration you can join us in playing along with the OPTIONAL challenge each month. This is only optional and you do not have to play along to send your cards to the featured cause for the month. We always take cards no matter if you play along in the challenge or not. This months challenge is to be inspired by PAWS. Yep - animal paws...include a paw somewhere on your card or even on the envelope. Be sure to use the keyword C4AC so that we can check out your card and comment! To see this gallery C4AC click here.
Another exciting announcement, we now have a badge for you to proudly display on your blog; here is the link.
Sticky:Cards For A Cause Blog Badge
Also, we have a section now for on going Cards For A Cause, these are organizations that take cards all year. If after your monthly generous giving you have others, go here..thank you so much for all you do!
Fellow SCSer's, thank you for spreading your SCS love! Once you have mailed them come back to us here
You can! Like many shelters, we have primarily cats and dogs (and kittens and puppies, of course!). But we also have small critters like rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles and birds. I think cards with any of them would be acceptable. When I talked to our volunteer coordinator about the card types, she was very excited at the idea of handmade cards. Handmade adds a little something extra special.
Thank you to everyone who can participate this month, I'm so excited to be part of such an amazing group!
Count me in. Are these cards that the shelter sends out? I have made a lot of dog/cat Thank You cards. Would these be suitable.
Thanks for asking! Yes, these are cards that the shelter sends to donors, friends/family of the shelter, foster pet-parents, staff and adopters. Dog/Cat thank you cards would definitely be suitable.
I've been MIA for a couple of months with my FIL passing away and getting his house ready to sell, then we moved several hours away and all my stamp stuff was packed up. We are all settled in now and my stamp room is back up and running! I would love to participate in this worthy cause!

Hi Kathi! I haven't been able to craft for a couple of months either - I just moved too. I am happy for you that you can get back to crafting again! I am so excited to be able to touch paper again and start getting the creativity going. I can't wait to see your cards!

Hi Alka, thanks for joining in! There is no requirement for a number of cards to send; everyone sends what they are comfortable with and all cards are appreciated. Having an animal on the card is not a requirement. The themes of Thank you, Sympathy, /Thinking of You, Congratulations, Get Well Soon and Blank Cards are what my coordinator requested.
I'm in!! Late-but in! Of all the cards i did get made up, none were for pets! ARGH!
I shoulda checked the Coming Soon thread!!
Thanks for participating! If you have cards in the requested themes, it's fine if they don't specifically include animals. I know Katie (my coordinator) uses a variety of card types.
Is it limited to just cats and dogs or can we use other animals? or can they be made without cats and dogs
You can absolutely use other animals. We take in any animal that needs assistance at the shelter. The ones we most commonly see besides cats and dogs are birds, guinea pigs, turtles, snakes, lizards and rabbits. I think I remember seeing fish there once too!
Hi Sally, they didn't specifically request birthday cards. I'll send my coordinator an e-mail to ask if she would have a use for them and will let you know as soon as I hear back from her.

Hi Sally,
My coordinator got back to me very quickly! She said they typically don't use many birthday cards, but she would take a handful of them if you are feeling inclined to create some birthday wishes. She's so grateful to everyone for their time and creativity and can't wait to see our creations!

Thank you Diane S. from North Carolina and Sarah H. from Oklahoma for your gorgeous cards! It was like Christmas opening them, and I am blown away at how pretty they are. I make really simple cards, but seeing these makes me want to up my game!
Sent you a padded envelope with cards for the humane society yesterday! It should be fun to open them all and see the creations that were made.
Thank you Dorie, I'll watch for it. Since you are close, it should be here soon. And yes, it's been super seeing what our crafters have come up with!

Thank you Ruby H. from Minnesota, Debbie L. from California and Cheryl Y. from California for your fantastic contributions!
Ruby and I must shop at the same places - we have the same embossing folder and used some of the same paper.
Debbie mentioned that this is her first time participating in C4AC - Thank you and Welcome!
Cheryl, WOW! What an amazing box of cards, love them! Do you remember what the name of the paper brand you used for the dog cards? I am in love with that paper!
I am smiling huge tonight, thank you everyone.
Becca
I’m working on some cards now - will try to get them out by this time next week!
Thank you so much! There's still plenty of time to send, I won't be delivering them to my coordinator until early July. I've been pleasantly surprised at how many folks send their cards so early in the month.....I usually wind up sending mine one of the last few days of the month - I need the time to finish making them! Becca
Thank you Jan S. from Kentucky and Sharon B. from Georgia for your fantastic cards that arrived today. WOW, just wow! These are awesome cards and are going to be perfect for HAWS. Thank you both so much, I am completely blown away today.

I think my browser is formatting incorrectly or something. It's showing the street address as S6W31209 Hidden Hollow (are the 'S6W' actually valid? doesn't seem like it) And Is it St? Rd? Blvd? every time I go to the post office with an address that doesn't specify st, rd, etc - they ask me.
Thanks in advance for the help. I have a small pack of cards ready to be mailed...just want to have the address correct
