Happy Mix-Ability day! It's warming up and the days are getting longer, but they've been difficult ones, and all I really want to do is curl up in a corner under a cozy quilt. That inspires our challenge this week - do some paper quilting!
Some ideas to get you going:
--Cut up some mixed media papers with quilting or geometric dies and piece them back together in a pattern. You can also cut squares then cut them on a diagonal - do an image search for half-square quilt patterns for lots of inspiration for putting them back together for your card front!
--Cut up some mixed media papers by hand and piece or stitch them back together in a pattern. Here's a tutorial for making a set of cards this way!
--Use a retiform technique for a patchwork effect (not cut or stitched but masked).
**Bonus - once you have your panel adhered together, emboss it with a folder or a stencil for a quilted look.
Remember, for your project to truly qualify as mixed media, you need to use at least 2 different types of art media. You can click HERE for a list of supplies you could choose from. Please remember to put in the correct keyword (MIX384) when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos. Then come back to this thread and paste a link to the card in your gallery so we can all ooh and ahhh! Go forth and create!
I like the sound of this. Love using the offcuts from my gel prints for herringbone backgrounds. I'm still catching up from yesterday, but I hope to be along tomorrow with a creation for this.
Here's mine. I actually found one Christmas background left from when I featured the Stack and Cut Quilt as a TLC, but my imagination didn't take me anywhere with it. So I used up assorted scraps and backgrounds instead.
