Tim announced Ranger will be releasing NEW Distress colors on a monthly basis. I don't see any mention of exactly how many there will be. For those of you who love the new embossing glazes, the new colors will be released as glazes!
Interesting how Tim refers to a “color” (singular), as does SSS which he links to, rather than “colors,” plural. So we have to wait every month for one, boo. (I’m greedy; want my Oxides.) Since there were always six, maybe the same? Inquiring minds...
If you weren't interested (or don't remember) there was a color-of-the-month program 5 years ago. No oxides then, markers & stain dabber were in the set.
This is one of those grump laughing things not grumpy critical things. When you all announced new DI colors I was like "Really Tim!???" I am still trying to collect the old ones. What does this make like 285 colors now, ROFL! I know it's like 60 now right?
When I told my DH he was like "That is cool!" I am like "That is not cool, I will never catch up!" ROFL.
After my feet stomping about Tim and his problem with overwhelming product lines that we all need EVERY SINGLE ONE OF I am excited about the colors.
It will be fun to get a color of the month. Who will have the best prices and most fair shipping. Make a list everyone. We need lists of companies that are doing monthly releases since we have to support our DI addictions.
Seriously Tim I really do need to catch up. Wait another five years ok? ROFL!

Haha! I decided late last year that collecting crafting materials is NOT going to happen on my watch. If I don't plan to use it in a few months, I am not spending money on it. It's a bit of a relief, honestly.

Indigo- I am trying to do that to. It's the coloring book girls fault now I need all the DI colors. I have always felt a little bit like "Oh, DI's kind of care, don't really, maybe need them, maybe not." Then I saw the coloring book girls doing all these beautiful things in their coloring books and I was yanking out the few colors I had so I could do those things to, lol. Now, I want all the DI colors.
I thought about collecting the Oxides but I don't think they are my art style. I have a whole set of alcohol inks. Had them for years. They are all these Earth colors. I need pinks, jewel tones & Frida Kahlo colors.
If these new Distress colors are jewel colors I will be hugging them. I know somebody will say "Why did Tim release a Ruby Red DI?" I am going to be hugging mine saying "THANK YOU!" If it's forest most green I might pass, lol. Nothing against forest moss green.

Yeah, good luck with that! I think all of us started out planning NOT to go down the rabbit hole. Looking back up from the depths I wonder what the heck happened...

If you don't get them the month they come out, can you still get them later? If I get the pad and reinker only the shipping isn't worth it, but if I could get several of them at a time, it might be...

They'll be part of the Distress line, so available as individual products.

LOL. Well it helps I am not going to be making "random" things. I need a lot of supplies in a few select color palettes. I'm picky beyond belief. I research before I buy. Trust me when I say my recently posted closet solution will likely be MORE than I will ever need.
(Also, I just don't WANT to deal with a big collection. To much of an administration nightmare for someone who is so bent on total organization.)

I went to the link that Vic provided and the drop-down menu to select which item you wanted didn't include a mini, so I'm guessing that they won't be offered initially (but it is just a guess). Maybe they'll do sets of three or four after they've released a few months' worth...?

I found out no Mini's until after the whole color line is released and then they will make a decision.
Mini fun grump. I wish Tim would make a decision. I have over twenty DI's in full size pads. I was able to get eight mini's for a really great price in colors I didn't have. I paid $2.00 for a whole pack of mini's at Hobby Lobby a couple of months ago. You know I had to snag those up.
I need all my regular DI inks to be in one storage system. Tim needs to make up his mind about full size and mini's, ROFL! He's causing me issues, ROFL!
I did post over at Mission Organization about storage for my DI pads. If anybody has great ideas I would be so appreciative.
Tim stop it, ROFL! Seriously Tim thank you for options. I for one appreciate it.

I saw that thread, Dee...still looking for ideas?

This is one funny thread! LOL ;) I saw that Ranger was coming out with more Oxides too, & I may just pass, since I have all the Oxides out already. I never got the Distress Inks, except for a few, & am fine. But, I HAD TO HAVE ALL the Oxides! LOL I'm one of those who like to have the whole kit & kaboodle. BUT, I have to draw my line somewhere! I won't die if I don't have one more ink pad! LOL If I see a color or two that strike my fancy, maybe I'll get those. ;)

Is there a way you can make that determination contagious? Please!:lolo:
Not a single colour people are hoping for? I’d like a soft yellow, banana peel maybe? A medium pink that is more neutral or purplish than worn lipstick, a pale turquoise like tumbled glass but more green in it. A sage that isn’t as grey as iced spruce.

WHITE! Notice: Ranger doesn't have one in Oxides, YET! ;)<3

Update: I am adding this to say I get as excited as everyone else about new products coming out. I just try not to buy the entire line in one sitting
I wish I could, only because with this ability also comes other perks (mini-skills) that help with preventing clutter, keeping things organized, etc.
Also, I can say this for people who hope, someday, to control these urges:
About to press the order button? - Stop! Do you have an active, or about to start-on project (less in 14 days away, mind you) you need this item for? No? DO NOT ORDER.
Also: there are cheaper things to collect (And I, a collector of various things over the last 40 years of my life) know that you can collect almost anything and feel it's worth the effort.

Reason: Added some text....
It’s been a long day and I cannot remember why Tim said originally why the Distress Oxides could not be in a mini format? My mind is going blank. It was a chemical type reason I think?

Apparently the way they are formulated, won't allow them to do minis. So I would say you're correct about the chemical reason.

It has to be the whole kit and kaboodle right? ROFL! It really has to be. You know Tim and Ranger know us "fans" will do it. I hope Ranger & Tim are finding this thread funny. We all know they don't expect us to buy everything, lol.
It is fun that Tim & Ranger are releasing new items. We are all hyped up about it and our fake funny grumblings.
I have always loved releases. I hardly buy anything. I love looking at all the new pretty things. I am even looking forward to SU's new catalog and probably won't buy anything, lol. Unless, there is a good unicorn set. SU has not had a good unicorn set in awhile, lol.
I am telling you if Tim releases jewel colors in the new Distress lines I will be screaming with happiness. I want some pastels to. Really good pastels that look like pastels. Oooh, I want just one good shade of Tiffany Blue, preferably from the 1930's range, lol. If Tim is reading this he's shaking his head, lol.
Ranger said the new colors would be vintage. How would you describe vintage? In my mind, I think of 4 color ranges: jewel tones, pastels, neutrals, and vintage.

Caution: You are entering an artistic zone. This is not clutter - this is creating. These are not pajamas - it's my work uniform.
In general, not just inks, vintage brings to mind faded, old and soft, or a palette from a specific era, like the 50s as one example. Since Ranger only said “vintage inspired” it could be either. If forced to guess it would be the first, but who knows!

I THOUGHT that the Distress Colors & Oxides WERE "Vintage!"

There are a lot of toned down colors, and maybe because they’re called Distress, and Tim is Mr. vintage/steampunk, and many of his followers use those styles, the bright possibilities get less attention?
Justine Hovey and Jennifer McGuire go bright with Oxides sometimes. Some of my backgrounds are bright or gem colors: turquoises, violets, red/pink/orange/yellow (lemonade is the purest, least toned down yellow).
I couldn’t load a first photo, trying another. photo. But here’s

I own a lot of vintage jewelry so jewel tones can be very vintage to me.
I always think Tim's style is more Earthy and "Garage" style. That is a compliment. I can't pull it off. Trust me when I say my DH is a green eye monster about Tim's art studio, lol. This must be recreated in our home. My DH has Tim's style and his work is very "garage".
Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, Wilted Violet are gorgeous jewel tones from Tim's line. I want to see more Ruby Reds, Sapphire Blues (Heard from my other forum it could be Indigo Blue- Crossing Fingers). I honestly did not want the DI's until Tim/Ranger released Peacock Feathers.
I would love a beautiful pastel yellow in a range like Tumbled Glass and Spun Sugar.
I know I use Tim a lot instead of Ranger. I know he's part of Ranger. I say that about all the Ranger artists- Dyan's new line. Wendy or Susan's new lines.
I will say Heidi Swapp's new line even though it's through American Crafts, etc... I always go with designer name.
That’s how the LSS’s I’ve gone to refers to different lines. Same here at SCS and Me too. Just makes sense.
Well we know the colors will be inspired by sometime in the past. I just wish it was all at once and not one measly though much anticipated color at a time.
OT Speaking of waiting for colors, Versafine Clair is a go to because they’re so crisp and for being embossable long after stamping. I wish they’d come out with pastels colors. It probably isn’t going to happen. But since they do great 2nd and even 3rd generation stamping going light works.

Wow, and I thought I had the market on vintage colors. I've been afraid to actually bring names into the thread. Dee, where are you getting your color references on I wonder, because I have recently decided to record such things...
