S2S20 challenge
It's the year 2020. I can't believe the last decade has gone by so quickly.
Here is the brand new thread for our forum. We are undergoing a change this year, and this is still about stamping to save, but not so much about challenges. Consequently, we will not have weekly challenges, but one challenge to cover a whole month. This is a way of trying to use the supplies we already have to create in new and exciting ways. More than anything else, this has been a way of connecting with and supporting each other. as far as keeping track of what we do, this is totally self directed. You get to set the amounts you wish to credit yourself with. As an example, here are the amounts I set for myself last year, but it is only an example. You choose your own amounts.
It is up to each individual to decide on the earning points and amounts. And it is up to each person to keep track. For example here are my earning points:
Finished card $2.00
Doing a challenge card $1.00 for each challenge up to 3
Tags, ATC's, $1-$3 depending on how complicated
Scrapbook page: $2-$4, depending on time spent
Prep work for Sunday School crafts $1 per child
Card workshop $2-$5. per person
Card kits $2. each
Setting a challenge on this (or any other) forum.
This is just an example. Many of us add payment for other things that are challenging for us as individuals, for example exercise, books read, meals cooked from scratch ......you name it.
So ladies, let's have a fabulous year of creating, chatting and caring for each other.

S2S20 JAN
For the first monthly challenge. Our January challenge is to choose a stamp or stamp set that you have never used and create 5 different cards with one or two of the images, during the month of January. It should be easy to double up on other challenges with this. You will notice that I have changed the key word, leaving a space between the year and the month. The month will always be in upper case letters and have the first 3 letters of the month. I realize this becomes very similar to the USEIT challenge this month, so you have an opportunity to get double points.

Great, Ina...thanks for keeping us going! This sounds like lots of fun. I really like the January challenge making us get creative with just one stamp or set!

I’m here, thanks Ina for keeping this thread going, I will be joining the challenges when I can as we will be away every other month looking after GS in England.
I have quite a few new stamps and dies, freebies from the mags my son bought me for my birthday, they are mainly Christmas ones but hopefully that will mean double bubble!
Jayne, just received your gorgeous chrimble card, it’s beautiful and I love all the glitter!
Cheered me up as I walked across to the post office as Steve is mainly recovered but still feeling weak so no walk today but at least he had some breakfast this morning.

Just thought seeing Ina’s list, maybe I could make some card kits to take with me to assemble while I’m away.

Morning! Had a quick visit from grumpy. He was out delivering, he's a postie, and his truck broke so he finished early. He came by to pick up the stew I made in my 6 quart slow cooker. That will keep them going.
I have modified how I make my stew. No flour so it is a broth. I cut the pieces smaller. Sweet pea will most likely steal quite a bit of the broth and have it as a soup. Grumpy wants it in small pieces so he can eat it with a spoon at work. Since he is outside delivering there isn't a table or a microwave, everything has to be easy to eat on the go.

Sounds lovely Lynn, I love a stew done in the slow cooker.
I’ve been ill with sickness, had a thumping headache, spent yesterday in bed I felt so ill, thank goodness I feel better today so I took the Christmas decorations down. I was so hungry tonight as I hadn’t eaten for so long, just had some pasta with a bit of sauce just in case my stomach played up but no problems.
Anyone made any New Year resolutions? I didn’t bother apart from telling myself I will carry on using my craft stash to clear some spaces,!!!
Hope everyone else is well, Kathy how are you?
Jayne I hope you haven’t got any fires near you!
Hope Sis Vicki is ok now and Ina. Are you fit and well again after your illness
Still keeping thinking of Sharon and Hoping she is recovering, if anyone hears anything please give us an update.

My resolution.. Actually a project is to declutter. I need to be ready for when the 3 of us find a house. Grumpy moves in first and gets things ready. He wants to soundproof where I will be staying. I am told I snore louder than a train!

We are doing some of that before we go to england, we need to dig out winter clothes!
Are they looking for a house now? It’s very exciting for you lynn although you may have to have a massive de clutter, depending how how much space you will have when you move.
I know how much stuff we’ve collected since we’ve been here especially since we bought next to nothing with us!

The plan is for fall. We will all be in the place together. When I moved in here I bought new furniture as my son took most of the stuff from the townhouse. Once we find a place we will divide up the furniture based upon need. My stuff is new and in good condition but dark. I figure the kids should have it since they will most likely be upstairs and entertaining more. I will repaint some of the older stuff and setup my place with it. I have found I rarely have anyone over.. Why.. Cause as soon as I am having a good day I want out of here!

Update on Sharon. She was to have surgery on both wrists on Thursday the 2nd. Steel plate in each wrist, recovery time about 4 weeks. Wow! I can't imagine how painful that might be.

She posted a short message on the alpha thread. Her hand was swelling and fingers turning color so she called the doctor. This is what she posted:
Just checking in. Have not read any of the post. Had surgery on Tuesday no Thursday. They inserted two plates and screws. I had a rough night last night finally called the doctor today. They got the cast or whatever on too tight and my thumb was turning black and was really painful so the doctor said I could told us how to take the tape off. I go in tomorrow for them to check it out. I think there was a cut or laceration under my thumb anyway from the fall and that was part of it. So still not feeling good appreciate thoughts and prayers thank you. Sharon thankful for this microphone smiling. Friends. Have been bringing in meals and that really helps. Just not with it between not feeling good and the pain management

Thanks for the update on Sharon. I’ve been thinking of her.
Hope you all had a great weekend. Ours was very busy with family get togethers. I cleared out part of my craft room today...whoohoo. It will soon be all done and dusted. Bring it on.
Happy Monday

Sorry you got sick too Jan. This bug must be world wide. Some encouragement. Yesterday, I was at 75% and today I am at 90%, so once you start getting better, it should happen quickly. Back to walking this morning. We walked in a blizzard!
Woo hoo, I got mail from the land of Oz last Friday! Thanks so much Jayne. Such a cute card, with little angels. I like the postage stamp too. It will go to my sister-in-law, who collects stamps.

Thanks Ina, we did actual walk this morning as we both felt we should get out and stretch our legs, my stomach is still feeling a bit dodgy but apart from that I’m feeling much better.

we got our first inch of snow overnight but its almost gone.
It does seem that people are sick all over the world! My son is nearly 100% again and so far DH has been able to avoid it. He's been hunting a lot so he hasn't been at work or inside here at home.

Happy Tuesday ladies. Sorry to hear that you have been so ill Jan and Steve. Hope you start coming good. Good to hear that Ina is now feeling better and Kathy's son.
Gosh so much sickness around. It sounds like it was during our winter.
Glad my card turned up Ina. I think you all should have received them by now...I hope so. I know we are a long way away LOL.
Take care everyone.

OK.. Good news my doc is listening to me! Yeah! So things will get busy. First I started talking to him about Sweet pea being added to my list of carers. I also reminded him that I have been a hot mess since June. We are going to do a baseline neurology report and check my heart with an EKG. Nothing has shown up on any of the other tests. I have been pushing him because I want to know what is wrong. If I know what it is then I can deal with it! Just had an update with my son so we are on the same page.
I am gonna drop off the grid for a bit because I need to time shift and I can go quite wacky.
Big hugs

Well, the sunrise was gorgeous, but it wasn't 20 minutes later, when we were on our walk, that it started to snow and blow, so we were walking in a blizzard. We had to change our route to stay out of the worst of the wind. It's a very strange day .......... we've again had some beautiful sunshine, and now it is snowing again. I need to go into town to buy a few groceries, but I don't want to drive through a storm.

Our day ended sunny and fairly warm and my washing dried, still haven’t got the new boiler working properly, the water isn’t heating hot enough, this was the third day he’s been fiddling with it, realised that he had bought one for us that uses butane gas, we usually use propane, thought that was the problem but it isn’t!

I have chosen my stamp set, but have only finished one card and am working on the second. My stamp set is the Stampin' Up Winter Woods. I've had it for over 1/2 year, but never used it until now.

Ina when I was purging my stamps, dies and stash yesterday I found so so many I hadn’t opened. Some are still in the amazon boxes. What a spendthrift and hoarder I am...so I will have lots to choose from for your challenge in due course.
Did I purge? Yep about 10 items. I just couldn’t do it and especially when I haven’t used the majority of them. I seem to have my favourites which have been inked up a lot. I shall go through them again another day. It was overwhelming plus my back has today decided not to cooperate. I have popped a pill and done some stretches and hoping it’s just a twinge. I’ve been so careful except maybe not the past 2 days..oops.
