Wednesday night, my father passed away in his sleep from a heart attack. It was a shock as he was in good health. I live in Texas and he lived in Minnesota. Since I was not around to take care of him, my brother-in-law was. I want to create a thank you card for my brother-in-law to thank him for all he did to help my father. I don't want just a generic thank you card, but I can't think where to begin to make it special. If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I might use a die cut or stamp with the word “grateful,” not that “thank you” would not be fine. Or there doesn’t have to be a sentiment on the front - it could be a leaf, a feather - very simple.
Looking at your gallery, since there weren’t many cards, whether you do blended or watercolor backgrounds or similar wasn’t apparent. But I’d probably do one of those very simply. Searching in the gallery using the keywords “grateful” or “thank you” might help too.
I like the idea of using the word grateful instead of thank you. I have a tiny words stamp that says "Forever Grateful". I think I will use this. Now I just have to find an image that works for him. I may end up going with flowers because I don't have a feather or leaf stamp. Most of my stamps are cartoony animals and people. I do have flowers though, so I think I may blend a background, put the flowers over it and end with the tiny words stamp. Thank you so much for the idea. I was at a loss. Just one word change has sparked ideas.

I like the idea too of grateful. Stronger than thank you. I think what is going to matter here most, is what you write on the inside...sounds like you have good things to say in mind.
You might consider doing a cover in DP pieces if you have masculine colors/patterns in a geometric look or strips...
Or if you have leaf stamps in your flower sets...you can stamp just that over the whole thing as a pattern or a border on one side.
Do you feel like you can do a simple sunset? Just really a line across the face with a ruler and a half circle, and then blending ending with a dark blue/purple to the outside or top.....
I would like to add my sincere condolences to the others. As far as input for your card, I really like the idea of grateful over thank you, as well. I recently watched a Gina K video for wax paper embossed backgrounds that might be a wonderful way to jumpstart your card. If you have an embossing folder that you especially love and/or that would lend itself well to the card you have in mind it might be of interest to you. I can't get the link or embed code to work properly, so go to YouTube and search "Gina K wax paper embossed background". I hope that you have love and light and support during this difficult time...

My condolences as well. "Blessed" could also be a good word to use, as you sound very blessed to have him as a BIL.

So very sorry for your loss - my mother just passed away and like you I was 1400 miles away while my brother assumed the thankless job of watching over her and being called at all hours of the day and night to handle whatever needed to be done. I made this very simple and unfussy masculine card and wrote a note from the heart inside to thank him for his selfless giving to our mother when I couldn't be there.

This is the card I came up with. Blue is his favorite color, so that's why I went with a blue color scheme. I hope he likes it. Thanks for all the support and suggestions. It means a lot.
So sorry to hear of your loss! :( I think your card design is beautiful--simple, which is good for a masculine card. I like how you used your BIL's favorite color. I can tell you put a lot of thought into this. I hope you all can find peace in the coming days & weeks. Take care!
My condolences to you and your family as well. I think your card is lovely and the tree is a great choice. I love using tress for sympathy cards. Something so strong and steady about them. Wishing you and yours comfort and peace during this time.
Sincerest condolences to you. My husby was checked for chest pain and sent home with no reasons why. 4 weeks to the day he passed from a heart attack. I think I would have been more traumatized if I had awoke to his body if it happened in his sleep.
Your card is very pretty and I'm sure it will be appreciated.
There are no words. Please take care of yourself too. I’m sure creating has been helpful in healing.
What a wonderful way to show your BIL how much you appreciate the care he took of your Dad. It will mean more to him than you know.
