We had a bare little office Christmas tree in the Doctor's office I work in.  So last year I saved all the office Christmas cards and took them home.  I went through the stack and used an oval and round paper punch to punch churches, snowflakes, deer, small. sparkly snow scenes, angels, nativity scenes...you get the idea.  I mounted them on Cherry Cobbler scalloped punched paper to outline the scene, added red bakers twine and this year we placed them on the tree.  Some of our patients recognized their last year's Christmas cards used as ornaments.  The tree was pretty and we saved them for next year.  Just one idea...

I've seen people punch images out like Jeanne mentioned and use them as gift tags, and I've also seen people fussy cut or punch out the images and use them on their own cards. Some of them were quite cute.

I get a lot of my stamping supplies at thrift stores, sometimes i find boxes of cards very reasonably priced. I punch out images from the fronts but mostly cut out the little poems or sentiments inside the card. Then pop them on a paper layer or just glue them to the inside of cards i make.

The ideas given sound more geared to "store-bought" cards and, if I read the OP's question correctly, she was asking for ideas for extra handmade cards. Many people donate to senior facilities, hospitals, etc. You can also pull them apart and save usable parts, etc., to make new ones.

Last year, I took all my card front swaps I had received and made them into full cards. Those, along with all my extra cards I'd made, were given to my mom to give to the senior's center and the residents of her apartment building (subsidized for over 62 or disabled low-income individuals.)

I give mine (and all store-bought cards I receive) to my cousin. Her church cuts them and adds them to new cardstock and sells them. At least they don't go to waste. She likes to have the verses from the inside to use, too.

I will sometimes re-use the handmade cards I have received by cutting the front panel and affixing to a blank base.

I went with how Sue read it. I will add on the other interpetations too.

Card Surplus- I do a lot of fronts. Whatever I don't use I donate to one of the FHA disable/elderly high rises. They have a bingo night every week for the past thirty years. They fight over my cards and get into some pretty big bingo competitiveness. So, I have to help enable that.

Side note- With everything going on if you decide to donate to a nursing or any of the residential facilities please check with the administrator first since there are now strict safety protocols being implemented. I am bit in overprotective mode right now because my neighborhood is mainly elderly or handicap. I scrubbed the card machine at Dollar Tree with so much wipes today I almost broke it and got teased so badly over it. I don't work there, lol. #OCD Worrywart!

Recycled store bought cards- I love them so much. I cut out the images to use as die cuts. I donate extra's to my high rise girls. I alter the cards to make new cards. I use the fronts as journaling cards. I frame card fronts and hang them on my wall. You could do that with your made cards to that you have a surplus of. I have a billion ideas but those are my top ones.

Ronald McDonald's House loved to receive them and domestic violence prevention centers like to have them to send out so they can remember families back home...that was at least before Covid-19

Humm... It's the link right under the pink You Matter Project words.   Or the link can be found in the Mission: Organization threads here in SCS.  ;)
