It's Sabrina here as your hostess this Thursday morning, and we are getting out our button boxes - or whatever way buttons tickle your fancy. Aren't button boxes a wonderful thing - a treasure trove. I confess I have two - my crafting one, and my sewing & knitting one which has more special treasures in it. I loved playing with my mother's when I was young, and I remember Laura Ingalls Wilder's vivid description of playing with her mother's.
You can use real buttons, or there are two great tutorials for paper buttons (Carla sampled one, I sampled the other).
Feel free to use stamped images or embossing folders if you prefer, but I'd love to see as many buttons as possible.
And it's out of season, but there's a cute button tree pendant/decoration, which I did try: Button Tree Pendant
After you've created your buttoned-up project, upload it with the keyword WT779, and then come back and share a link here - that makes it easy for people to find your card. If you've used either of the tutorials, remember to upload to those galleries to add to the library of inspiration.
I'm linking my cards in a second post because I'm not going to have the time required to edit this with the current gremlins.
If you're not sure how to add a link, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one for your card in the gallery, and one for this thread
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
My thanks to Carla and Lisa for their great samples. If Cathy is able to send one for me to add, that also will be in post #2.
Fun challenge....and got me to pull out some of that old supply of buttons. Like you, I have "crafting" ones and "sewing" ones. I save all those hang-tags that come with extra buttons when one buys a piece of clothing. Thanks, Sabrina.
Sabrina, thank you for the challenge! I do have buttons and as a matter of fact I just used them this past week on another Valentine. But, this one is for my DH and I didn't think he would appreciate embellishments so it is just a stamped image. Hope this is okay. Here is my card.
Thanks, Sabrina! I have a nice collection that always makes me feel close to my dear mother. She saved them for years, but someone else got to them first for the best ones before they came to me. This one was a birthday gift from a dear friend, who will get it back via this card. WT779 Crochet Button.
Terrific idea, Sabrina. It helped me to finish up a card from last week. I have so many buttons, as I inherited my mom's button bin and I have purchased some from SU! and stores.
Here's a card I made today. I would have liked to have tried embossing flowers and will do this on another project. This card was needed quickly. Thanks Sabrina for the challenge.
