Good day, everyone! This is a first for me! I'm hosting a challenge AND I'm posting it, all by myself...not really, I received a lot of help from Sabrina and a bunch of encouragement from others. THANK YOU!
I love techniques, especially backgrounds. Today's challenge is to choose either alcohol ink faux bleach or color wash faux bleach. No, these techniques do not use real bleach, instead you need an iron to create a 'faux' bleach look. I love the word 'faux.' I don't know why, I just do.
Some suggestions:
1) Any iron will work, I used my dust gathering regular iron. Just make sure that your iron won't make contact with any of the color, otherwise you'll be cleaning your iron.
2) If you do the alcohol ink faux bleach, DO NOT USE YUPO OR ANY OTHER PLASTIC TYPE SUBSTRATE. I'm an idiot, I don't use glossy cs any longer but the Yupo melted to the white cardstock. Fortunately I could peal it off and had a print, but not two prints. Yes, that is the bonus: two prints for the price of one.
3) Any ink sprays would work for the color wash one. Or even pads or reinkers, spritzed with water, or watercolor powders. Experiment!

Reason: in staging
I'll be along after work. I remember the first time I tried this...I had no colorwash and only two or three reinkers to make my own. Definitely got more supplies to play with now.
I looked up my first attempts, I actually didn't even have any reinkers back in 2008, and only one spray bottle which I had to wash in between applications of ink in water for my own DIY colorwash. Went for the alcohol ink option this time, new to me. Fun, thanks Jean. If it wasn't such a busy week I'd give the other version another go too now that I have so many options available.
I am not embarrassed to say that the only time I use my iron these days is for craft projects. If it's not a wash and wear garment, I don't buy it!
Here is my card and thanks for a fun challenge, Jean. TLC777 Go With The Flow by sleepyinseattle - at Splitcoaststampers

Fun technique - I combined with the colour challenge and I did manage with a bit of trimming to get 2 cards. I didn't use my regular iron, thankfully I have a travel iron I can grab - never take one when we travel any more! CC774_TLC777_Butterfly
