January Scrappin' and Chatter - sbc20jan
Scrappin' Challenge 2020 Can you believe this is our 12th year of Scrappin' Goal Challenge?! We sure completed an AWESOME number of pages together in 2009 through 2019 and I'm looking forward to MORE Scrap pages together in 2020! Let's keep scrappin'.
It was SO fun to chat about and see everyone's pages, goals and ideas for completing LOTS of scrapbook pages in 2020! Many had a common theme - get more pages done, use what's in our stash, meet new scrapping friends, plan time/crops...
What fun we'll have sharing ideas, cheering success, keeping the motivation and making new friends. Our scrap goal isn't all about getting pages done, it's also about enjoying the process! Please feel free to join at any time!
Here's the CHALLENGE. Each person can share their page goals, pages and ideas. for those of use who like Annual Goals, we will have a better shot at meeting our yearly goal if we break it down by month.
*In this thread, we track our monthly goals. We find it helps us keep getting pages done which is good for all of us.
You choose your own scrapbook page goal and monthly spend goal. You may select 2, 3, 5, 50 pages....you choose. The idea is to be flexible so if you know you're going to be really busy, you can reduce the number one month or if you're going to a couple crops or scrap weekends, up the number. This also works for the budget. Each month, you can change your goals depending on your calendar!
The whole goal of the challenge is to get lots of pages done all the while enjoying sharing with Virtual Friends.
Are you UP for the CHALLENGE? Come and Play in the 2020 Scrapbook Challenge! Here's to Meeting our Scrapping Goals & Meeting New Friends!
We'd love to "oohh" and "aahh" over your pages so please post with key word "sbc20jan"

YTD for 2019
I think I ended somewhere around 318 pages for last year. I didn't do a single page in Dec.
This month I'm going to make a goal of 15 pages. I'm headed to London for the first half of the month for my 20th anniversary. So I won't have as much time to scrap, but I will be taking pictures.

2019 I got 53 pages and three mini books done.
In 2020, I'd like to get 100 pages done, and at least one mini book. Last time I broke 100 pages was 2014. For January I'm shooting for 10 pages.
I'm excited to try that list again! Thanks!!

2019 I completed 131 layouts, which far surpassed my goal of 70! This year I'm going to set my goal at 100 since I know I have some time consuming things coming up and don't want to overextend myself. My goal for January is ten pages and finishing up the Scrapbook List Inspiration Challenge. And my one little word for 2020 is consistency. I need to implement that in many places in my life. Anyone else got a word for the year?

I hope this is the right place to join in I've never really shared much about my scrapping or scrap goals but I want 2020 to be different. I scrap for my nephews.
For January, my goal is to finish the journalling and page titles for the older nephew's 5th book
and
3 layouts in the younger one's first book
I hope to find the courage to attend an inperson crop

My word for the year is "DIFFERENCE". There are several opportunities in my life I'd like make updates, re-org or participate in work or community events, this seemed to encompass all of that. January's "DIFFERENCE" is going to be some organizing projects. I did my closet, coat closets and the kitchen - just small changes. This weekend it's going to be the Scrap Office.

hey hey
I'm just finishing up my Dec Album ... if I don't do it now, I won't do it. I'm on Day 26 so there's a good chance I'll get it done today/tomorrow. This year I got behind at the beginning and it didn't seem as fun as last year when I was working on it "real time". It's the only mini album I do. I just prefer 12x12 traditional / pocket pages.
I finished 285 pages for 2019 ... I started out strong Jan - May and that helped because the 2nd part of the year, I got side-tracked with work and travel. I'm hoping I can start the same for 2020 ... this weekend I plan to hang out only in my Scrap Space ... and GET BUSY

I used to be more active in the scrapbooking sections of SCS, but when my kids hit high school, I really fell behind. :( I managed a few mini-books, but didn't do much on my family albums except during a few crops.
So my goal for 2020 is simple...get back at it!
January: Organize including review where I was and make a plan.
February: Complete my mostly finished albums (Date tags, title/end pages, any incomplete pages?)
March: Let's see where I am at this point. I'll be between basketball and track seasons and will have a little extra time this month. Will either be continuing from Feb or moving onto April goals.
April: I have a crop this month, so will be prepping.
May-Dec: Continue to complete any partially finished albums.
Looking forward to hitting the books again.

Welcome to our new or renewed additions. Steph and NerdyBeth.
2019 Ended with 160 pages.
Since my crop room is unavailable due to our unplanned construction mess I will start late, so low goal for the month.
Jan goal=5
2020 goal= 150 pages

Happy Friday and welcome to the new ladies.
Has anyone heard how Sharon’s op went yesterday. Thinking of her.
My goal for January is to get my craft room decluttered and items culled with the space ready for action by end of the month. Hopefully before. It’s going to be a big job. I shall then be mainly scrapping, with 2 cards/month created at my monthly craft group and I will pick up one card challenge minimum per week from this site.
My goal is not to get distracted by cards but do more scrapping. I intend to keep focused.
My OLW this year is less and more....yep I know 2 words lol.
Less stress, drama, online time, stuff, and more creating memories, more time with my hubby and family and friends who want my time, more creating. That’s my plan lol

If all goes well, I'll be done with that by tonight and can Scrap the rest of the weekend. YAY! Let's hope that plan works
Sharon's surgery was yesterday at 12 noon but I haven't seen an update from her daughter yet. Hopefully all went well
Wishing all of you Scrappy Moments!

Stuff for Friday
Hey Amy, how's the construction/new plumbing coming along?
Sharon, what's the "new" house update?
Jayne, I struggled to pick "one" word! I like 2 ... it defines what you want.
Cheryl, Consistency ... there so many areas I need help with this! My calendar and "to do" list are full, I'm hoping that helps. Wishing you success!
Tanya, good for you on the mini albums. I wish I could like them, LOL!
Welcome Steph and Beth
Also, I'm thinking about starting a "travel" challenge of some sort since we all have lots of photos from cool places ...

Hmm, I'm still plugging through my London vacation photos from 2017, and I expect to be doing so for several years. We took a lot of photos. Have you been to London before? If not and you're going to be there for a while, I can suggest a few off-the-beaten-track places to visit!

Hello Ladies, I’d like to join the challenge, I’m not very good at keeping to targets, something always comes up to disrupt me, I didn’t finish many pages last year, making cards always takes priority, I have so much to scrap, I started an album when our youngest GS was born to scrap his first year, he’s near four and I’ve still got about three pages to finish, that’s my first project!
I even bought a die to make journal pages although it is smaller than I thought but I’m going to use it and perhaps use three or four pages for each subject. We are traveling backwards and forwards from Spain to England for the first half of this year looking after our GS so I will have to do my pages when I am home.Funny talking about going to London, our son works in central London and commutes every day, two hours on the train each way! I don’t really like London, every time we go our son says we should have a day there but we prefer to stay where he lives as it’s right near the beach, I prefer York, if you ever get the chance to go there it’s beautiful and interesting.

So much to catch up on, I will start small...
What a treat to see so many new faces with opportunity to see more new work!!!
Start low and slow with obtainable goals for your lifestyle.
One thing about photos, they will hang around waiting to be scrapped for years and years.
I just finished one with 14 year old pictures!!
My OLW for the year is PEACE - peace within every situation day to day....like the house, being the care giver for my spouse, peace with the little things that irritate me.
I have my first page done with Peace...I just realized I need to put that OLW on my wall to remind me what my word is! LOL
No encouraging news with the house, more delays or I should say the same delays just longer time to completion. Trouble getting cabinets done which in turn holds up the plumber and electrician from completing their tasks and the electrician was slow to begin with!!!!

Well ... I've prolonged the weekend some, staying up late but Monday is coming and it's a busy one with everyone back to work, me included.
I finished my Dec Album (whew!). I'm half way through my "Stamp Organization" Project, it's going well. I hope to finish next weekend. The BEST Part! I got back to scrapping this weekend. I finished 13 pages and have my 2019 Album Plan all set. I've completed January - April 2019, I'm working on my Savannah, GA Trip which was May.
** Update on Sharon M -- her surgery was Thursday. It appears all went well. She's sore but resting well. I let her know we were thinking of her and all sending ((Hugs)) and Get Well Wishes
Scrap On!

Pleased see the update on Sharon, she must be in so much pain.
I’m hoping to start my first page of this year today, just have to roller some plastic coating on our roof tiles to stop any leaks, we have a flat roof on our villa and suffered a leak last year so we took three weeks to regrout the tiles, not something I would do again believe me.

Jan, re-grouting roof tiles sounds like an arduous job!!
Hope the final stage prevents any leaks for years to come!
Glad to see Sharon did well with surgery, now recovery to take place.
Hugs Sharon.

Sharon I can assure you it’s not a job I would willingly undertake again, getting too old for crawling around on the roof, LOL
Good news about Sharon, hope she makes a full recovery, we all miss her.
I did start my Disneyland and Universal studio pages and then ouldnt find my photos!
I’ve been backing up my iPad and iPhone to my PC and now I can’t find them.

Whoohoo Jan is back. Good to see you on here again Jan.
I started my craft room declutter/reorg yesterday. What a task but I know it will be worth it. I saw my UK travel album sitting there unfinished and can't wait to get back to it and others. I have even committed to scrapping with a friend I used to scrap with a few years ago this year, plus I've received emails about 2 day crops happening in the coming months
and hope I can get to at least one of them. They are being run by the lady who used to own a scrapbook store here. She closed but occasionally holds retreats/crops. They are quite a way from where I live but I may have a driver to take me.
My goal this year is to:
Start scrapping....anything....and as many as I can each month. I'd like to think I could scrap 90 pages this year. That's 10 per month based on the months I'm home.
I also intend to make 20 cards minimum

Hi Jayne, sounds as if you are going to pretty busy scrapping, I’ve been in my craft room this morning but got nothing done, I’ve already cut some pages but I can’t seem to settle to one thing, takes me a while to get back in the swing when I’ve been away for so long.
We did intend going out for lunch but I don’t feel 100% so we are just going for a walk and a coffee then shopping, we are having a new boiler fitted but wouldn’t you know he said he’d start at 9.30am but didn’t arrive until nearer 11am! Really annoys me but that’s Spanish workmen for you!

I got two more posted and that means that in the first week of the year I got a layout done for each of my kids! I'm pretty excited about that. ;)

Off We Go
Well, another box done of stamp re-org ... I would say I'm about 1/2 way thru. I just keep telling myself it will be GREAT when it's done ... right Jayne?! ;) Good luck to your project as well
I have found time for scrapping, 15 pages done so far and I have this weekend and part of next week at home again before "crazy starts"! I have 12 pages left in to finish up through June 2019 and I'd like to get those done ... that would be exciting! My Goal is to have 2019 Albums (there will be "extra" with my France/Italy Trip) completed by June this year ... wish me luck
I've taken the picts, tomorrow night I should have time to upload from the hotel ....
HOpe it's a good week for everyone

wow I can’t believe how many pages some of you have finished already, im soooooo slow at this, it takes me ages to lay it all down before I’m ready to stick everything down.
Mind you I’m the same with card making!

Jayne yes, the way to re-organize is to take small sections at a time!
Do you have a system in mind to organize?
I would be throwing away 90% of my stash if it was paper than is more than a year old!!!
Now I have gotten rid of my stamps, lots of inks and most of my markers after realizing my first love is scrapping and stamping is a waste of time and resources as I don't mail out cards and have way too many pictures needing to be scrapped to make card to give away.
I have not missed the stamps and if I do miss stamping...well I saved some (which is only a few) of my favorites.
Now if I could get 15 pages done in a week (without going to a crop) then I would make cards and scrap too!!! Still, there are only so many cards I need on hand!

Hi Sharon (Sewflake) I don’t really have a system other than I’ve decided to retain my papers and scraps and embellishments stored by colour. When I did this a few years ago I’ve found it works for me and makes life easier. I will also keep my paper packs together as the work has already been done for me. I will toss small scraps though..I have way too many. All the rubbish I kept for mixed media has gone lol...no cardboard, no negatives, clothes tags, etc lol. I kept everything.
What I’ve been doing the past couple of days apart from moving items out of the room so I can breathe lol, is sort through my stamps, dies, EFs and papers including speciality papers. I only had about 10 items I really didn’t like or felt I would use so they will go for sure. I was going to also toss a lot of stamps but they take up such a small part of the room that I’ve decided to keep them for now. I will keep making some cards but don’t want cards to be my main focus.
I do send cards out and as long as I have enough stash for birthdays, get well and sympathy I will be right. The main people apart from family I send to are ladies on this site lol. If I didn’t send those I wouldn’t need to make cards lol.
I can see in time and particularly if we downsize again, that I probably will let my stamps go apart from alphas and numbers and a few favourites.
I’m now at the stage of deciding how to store punches...I don’t have a lot but they are taking up way too much space so I’m trying to be more efficient and so I can see them. Also ribbons...I have them in different places all tangled. Embellishments are also overflowing and I think this section will be where I will cull the most, especially stickers. I have some stored by theme and some categories have overlapped and the drawers are bulging lol. I welcome tips on how to store these.
I had a sore back yesterday after lifting for so long but it’s good now. It meant that I couldn’t do much yesterday other than decide how to store my envelopes and coloured notelet/CS. That’s all now in a plastic container where I can actually see the colours and sizes. I also followed some tips on YouTube and have my SU CS and speciality CS in magazine files where I can see what I have. Before they were just piled on top of one another so I kept buying thinking I didn’t have any. Eek.
Time to head back in there and keep going. It’s strange as I thought I was pretty organised but now can see that I was in an unorganised way lol. Slowly stuff has crept in there and it became a dumping ground. Now I’m storing and filing things by category so I don’t have to walk from one part of the room to the other for paper or to cut a die. Gosh it’s like a production line lol. I guess it is a system lol.
I’ll post a photo when it’s all done..it may be a while yet but I’m slowly getting there.
Happy weekend everyone. Take care
