Does anyone know if the cuttlebug Magnetic plate will work in the Spellbinders Platinum 6 cutting and embossing machine.
The company does not make a magnetic plate that fits the 6 inch machine. When asked if the cuttlebug plate would fit they "wouldn't recommend using any other manufacturers plates. " I am trying to replace my cuttlebug. Which I loved until I couldn't get plates anymore!! :confused:
I was sure the Spellbinder Platinum 6 was the answer until I found there is no magnetic plate.

I don't know the answer to your question, but here's another idea: I stuck one of those magnetic vent covers on my Big Shot platform and used it as a magnetic platform. You could play around with sandwiches with whatever plates you have to see if it works for you. Also, if you want to still use your Cuttlebug, try using an AccuQuilt Go! self-healing mat instead of the regular plate. I've been using one for several years now and loving it. Again - you do have to find out which sandwich works, but maybe that's a solution for you?
Instead of a magnetic plate, have you considered the Sizzix Sticky Sheets? I know Tim uses it in his Vagabond, and lots of other crafters are swearing by it too. Only really thin, so shouldn't cause any problems. People are also using it in their MISTI/ Stamping Platforms to replace the magnets.

Can you give a little more information on the AccuQuilt mat. What size do you use, where to purchase, how do you use it etc? I remember a discussion in the past on these mats but can't remember the details. Thanks in advance

I got mine (6" x 12") at Hobby Lobby with a coupon a few years ago, but haven't seen them there recently. You can get them on Amazon, possibly other places. I use mine in place of the regular plate that would be on the cutting side. It's slightly thinner than the acrylic plates so I have to shim it, but I often had to shim with regular plates to get a decent cut, too, so it's no big deal to me. One thing that I like is that I get great cuts every time with the proper shim. One thing that is potentially problematic is that tiny bits of paper can get embedded in the mat, since it's self-healing. To solve that issue, I just sort of bend the mat (it's flexible) to open the cuts and wipe it with a microfiber cloth (Zwipes) - problem solved!
