So - tomorrow is the big day, and I am clueless as to any happenings other than the sales I've been seeing (no, thank you, please...) I do not subscribe to newsletters and such so I know it's my own fault, but it led me to posting this as a place for anyone who cares to, to let us know what fun things might be going on around the larger community of cardmakers. Thoughts, poems, anecdotes...?
Hmm... It seems like it was kind of a big deal a few years ago. Did the novelty wear off or something? Kind of odd that it would just fizzle out like this...
Lawn Fawn has a 15% off sale for World Cardmaking Day.
Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine will have challenges and postings on their blog with winners for posting comments; you do not have to enter the challenges to win, but my placing a comment for the vendors who are giving items for the magazine to give to people.
Stamp Nation makes a big deal of World Cardmaking Day. Catherine Pooler has information on her blog, I think. I was a member a few years ago and it was a lot of fun participating in the challenges. I needed to leave for personal reasons. Now, I find enough challenges here to keep me occupied.
I am trying not to read too many sales posts. I have unsubscribed to many newsletters in recent years. I think I was getting overwhelmed with too many places always wanting my dollar.

Jennifer McGuire has the whole sales list on her blog. She has a note about Simon Says Stamp doing something special for the day.

I must confess to giving in to the sales at Scrapbook.com this morning. Everything is on sale, I got a discontinued die that they only had 2 of left, I got a roll of adhesive I intend to use when layering diecuts (at more than 60% off, mind you) and a few other items that I couldn't get at my favorite store anymore. But I was conservative. I'm saving up to buy a new bicycle. Go figure. But I miss riding and my current bike is not the best for my old body anymore.
But I still don't see events. I wish there were some challenges. Hmmm. Maybe we, here on SCS, need a day of challenges kind of like VSN. Something to think about.
i have to apologize. The post I saw through Google about Jennifer McGuire's sale list was from 2017, not tomorrow.
My friends from old Stamp TV say Gina K is having a sale tomorrow and they think it is 20%. She often posts on Facebook before advertising to newsletter subscribers.

Unity is having a real good sale right now. And if you subscribe to their private page called Unity show and tell they will be posting lots of inspiration and other stuff the whole weekend.

The first time I heard of World Card Making Day was here on SCS when there were several challenges, probably 8 or so years ago. I think after that, October got busy with HYCCT.
But it would be fun to organize something like that again., maybe next year.
I was sick a lot recently, so I haven't stamped much. I hope to do a lot tomorrow. I just got a SU order today. I need to find some good music and just dig in!

It's kind of disappointing that there isn't some sort of celebration going on here. I'm going to my Mom's to make some Christmas cards with her. I've seen some sales, but not a lot of activities.
Thanks to everyone who has posted here - much appreciated! Unfortunately, this thread pretty much reinforces my initial impression that there were sales a-plenty, but not much "celebration". Sad...
I was very dissapointed as well. I received a ton of sales emails. But in my opinion the day should have been about making cards, not buying more stuff. So it was a non-event for me. I just crafted on my own. And I purposely didn't purchase during the sales events.
The local VFW Ladies Auxilary hosted a troop Card Making and note writing day this past Saturday which happened to be WCMD. Several of us make cards year-round and then twice a year we have a thank you note writing day. The ladies then write thank you notes inside the cards. The cards are sent to Operation Quiet Comfort which then includes the cards in the care packages they send to injuried and ill military members who are stationed overseas. We had over 300 cards made ahead so the eight ladies who attended wrote in all the cards and a large flat rate box was stuffed full.
