WT761 ~ Taking the Rough with the Smooth ~ {10/10/2019}
It's Sabrina here as your hostess this week - and I have a texture-based challenge for us.
I want you to include both ROUGH and smooth textures on your cards.
Suggestions for smooth - acetate elements, sheer ribbon, UTEE glaze (cracked glass, enamelled leaves etc), heat embossing.
Rough elements could include burlap, some fibres, sandpaper or sand, Prills or microbeads, Flower Soft, chunky glitter, stencils with texture or embossing paste... Create thinking of what would be interesting to feel. Remember to share your rough and smooth elements in your write-up or here on the challenge thread. There are some embossing folders, such as SU's square lattice, which I think give a rough texture.
Once you'e created for this challenge, upload your card with the keyword WT761, and then come back and share a link here - that makes it easy for people to find your card, especially in the case of typos.
If you're not sure how to add a link, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one for your card in the gallery, and one for this thread
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
I hope you'll have fun thinking up contrasting textures and be inspired to create something. My smooth is the flower, and the glossy photo paper, with the stencilled paste and microbeads for rough.
Sabrina my papers are smooth, but then I added Stickles in lots of different colors to make candy bumpy.

Today is Thanksgiving in Canada. We actually got together with family yesterday for our celebration dinner. I made this card for my daughter.
It incorporates elements that fit this challenge:
Rough.... I hand embossed the pumpkin vines from a Fisgar's plate, on Kraft cardstock.
Smooth: I mounted a sheet of smooth acrylic decorated with old SU rub0ons. Embossed, chalked and thankful by Vannie - at Splitcoaststampers
Sabrina- thanks for this fun challenge! Here is my card using satin ribbon, heat embossing (for the smooth) along with hemp twine, dry/sanded embossing. crocheted lace and rhinestones (for the rough)
Hello, HAPPY FALL and the fun of holiday crafting!
I am happy to add my ROUGH Sugared embossed card to your challenge. the smooth of the Nuvo Drops and the Pearls in the flower centers seemed like the right combo of textures to add to your challenge.
This is the best season of the year for us all, fun and chaos, and the chance to reach out to friends and family. ENJOY!!
thanks for looking
Teresa
It's gallery entry and challenge catch-up still needed for me! For Smooth, I used sheer ribbon, smooth patterned paper, and gold foil. For Rough, I used dry embossing texture, and heat embossing over stamping and smooth paper.
