Challenge Title: Sparkle and Shine Hostess: Scrapacat (Ky) Keyword:MIX334
Hello and welcome to the Mix-Ability challenge here on Splitcoast! Our goal is to make mixed media, easy, approachable and Fun! We want to convince you that no matter what your style is - you can DO it! Your projects can be any type – cards, scrapbook layouts, art journal projects, 3D pages.
How many of you sent out as many Christmas/Winter cards as you intended? I know I'm not the only one. So, let's make up for that and send out mid-year cards instead! Here in the US the Independence season is upon us. We celebrate with picnics, swimming, fireworks, baseball, water balloons, blow bubbles and all other fun outdoor activities.
My challenge - make up a bunch of happy summer cards for your stash (and send them)! Ok, for the challenge, just make one if you like.
Use your sparkle and shine from your stash on dark paper. Glimmer pastes are all the rage right now! Just can't get excited about dark paper? Make it a picnic under a sunny sky, then! And add something sparkly! I'm flexible that way!

Great challenge Kyra. I love the idea of sending out celebratory cards in the summer. Sparkle makes it even better. I have an idea of what I want to do, just not sure how I will pull it off. So off to create. Thanks for hostessing this challenge.
I used Distress Oxides with my Life Changing brushes over a stencil, then covered it with glimmer paste. It's so glittery! The camera of course doesn't play well, but it has a great effect.
I spattered thinned acrylic paint over everything, then embossed the sentiment. It was quick and fun!

I hope it's ok that I made my 1st Christmas card rather than a summer card. I did make sure it had a lot of sparkle and shine with the glimmer paste and embossing powder. Here it is: Let It Snow!
Thanks for a great challenge, Ky!

Did you have fun? That's all that matters! It's so pretty! It's very hot here, so that card is very soothing. Win:win!

Well if the primary rule is to have fun, I did have a lot of fun with this challenge. Kyra, I did add sparkle and shine with colored pencils and then glue. I skipped the dark paper and used mono printed paper instead. I did fireflies or lightning bugs depending on what you call them. I did a trio of them: MiX334 Let it shine 1st card by MariLynn - at Splitcoaststampers
Though my card photo does not show it well, the flower bouquet is covered in iridescent glitter as is the happy birthday die-cut sentiment, plus the satin ribbon and iridescent goosebumps add more sparkle and shine. My mixed media elements are sponged ink on the flowers and cardstock used to die-cut the sentiment and inside photo corners, plus stamped purple splatters and glitter added to flowers and die-cuts.
