JUL19VSNH ~ Fossil Stone Technique ~ Saturday, July 6, 3 pm ET
Challenge Title: Fossil Stone Technique
Hostess: Melody (aka lacyquilter)
Keyword: JUL19VSNH<style type="text/css"></style>
Date: Saturday, July 6 -- 3:00 P.M. EST
Hi Everyone. I'm so happy to be your hostess for the next challenge. My challenge today is to make a fossil stone background. It's really a very easy technique, and on the plus side, you get two pieces to work with.
If you do not have a report cover, you can substitute any of these: 2 transparency sheets
cut open a ziplock type bag
cut open a plastic grocery bag (this is my favorite).
I also like to spritz the ink very lightly with water.
You are not limited to glossy card stock.
The samples below are glossy card stock, regular white card stock, and photo paper. Although the same inks were used for all three, each reacts differently to the ink and results in a completely unique look.

1. ALL VSN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 11 P. M. EST ON Monday, July 15.
2. You have 1 hour to complete the challenge, unless otherwise noted.....you do not have to count prep time!
3. We have a special gallery for the Rock Star VSN.
a) From the "Main Gallery" dropdown list on the first page of the uploader, choose Events and Special Collections.
b) From the Sub-gallery dropdown list, choose Virtual Stamping and Scrapbooking Nights ~ it's the last in the list.
c) From the new sub-gallery dropdown list choose Rock Star- it's usually the very top of the list.
4. Please remember to put in the correct keyword when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
5. Please do not combine VSN challenges...but you may combine any other challenges with a VSN challenge!
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure your layout is seen. THANKS SO MUCH FOR PLAYING ALONG!!!
A special thanks to Sonja, Anita, Marg, and Kelly for making samples.
Here is mine Melody! I have a whole bunch of panels of this now. I used to colors on this one, but they were to close to the same. I have some other though that show two colors.
Thank you for the new technique!
Melody, this was such a fun challenge. Here's my card.

So, just so you know I tried this the other day because of the peek... and one half of it was used for my upcoming dare to get dirty challenge sample... so, now I am kicking around ideas for the other piece.
I really wanted to try this technique out some time. Since I managed to make a quick card and it's still within the upload timeframe, here it is. Thanks for a super-fun technique, Melody.
I used a page protector I cut 2 sides off of. I was really amazed--& impressed--at how well this turned out! And now I have another Christmas card for this year. Thanks for the challenge and instructions!
